The word on the street is that the Duo Pros/or just Duos will allow the Pxxx phones to access the memory in individual banks.. For example, 2 banks of 128mb each for a total of 256mb and so forth.. However, it would require some kind of selector switch on the physical card to be slided for each memory bank.. Its hard to phatom Signapore would have the early news on what's new with the P900.. I can atest that the P900 will be able to use memory sticks larger then 128mb as I have seen demonstrations of it, but again I think only through the use of a partitioned memory stick...

@adnhk81... I wish. I'm on Tekong and won't be rushing anywhere soon :-D and hey, we SGers do get a lot of tech earlier than some countries.

I've looked in to this in some depth in the past and my conclusion is that with a firmware update, it is possible for the Px00 to use MS Duo Pros.

YMMV etc.

All SE has to do is to upgrade the firmware to be compatible with the PRO format.. According to this data sheet they have left that option to the manfucturers... Its very much possible with the Symbian OS...

I hope this is true. 128 mb is way to less memory in PX00's.

OK I find this very dubious.

The person who started this thread stated that when the "512MB Duo" was placed into the P900, the P900 showed 512MB....

This in itself is incorrect. A 128MB MSDuo registers as 123MB because it needs to be formatted. A 512MB Duo should register at around about 491 when formatted.

Food for thought.

That's common knowledge...At least to those that understand how memory registers work. I don't believe there is a device that displays the reported max memory bank.

The poster could have been exaggerating about the numerical number shown as a way to express his/her point on the memory size.

Shouldn't the question be: Where is this firmware available? Or how has anyone obtained receipt of it? I did get confirmation of a released firmware, but as to how a salesman got a log of it I don't know.. From what I had posted earlier Memory Stick manufacturers have concured that it is plausible that devices could be modified to accept PRO format through firmware revision.. So we know its not a hardware limitation as some may have suggested.. I do know the partioned banks on one memory stick is possible right now, but we can wait and see....
