Oops...

Edit: mustu, have you loaded the XP service packs? You it is a new machine but the XP disk may not include all the updates. Just an outside chance

Ok guys.First I get a box when i try to install the PCS from the cd saying that cannot install, the installation file cannot be found. Then there is another small box and it says cannot create file.
That is all.
The cd loads and I can get till I need to select the language.

I dont know about the packs.I did not get any.

Any information where i could get them.

I have not uninstalled the P800 PCS.

Thanks guys for helping out

Just a quick question - can you view the files on SE PSC CD using the Explore option? There should be a "setup" file, see if you can run this manually and see what happens.

Also, just to make sure the problem is not with the CD player, have you installed s/w using this CD player before?

Edit: XP Service Packs. If you open IE and select Tools/Windows Update you will be connected to the MS web site and this site will scan you machine to see what Service Packs you need.

I have a similar problem with the PC Suite installation - when I try to install the installation goes OK until it gets to the part when it installs Intuwave mRouter which crashes.

I have tried all the usual stuff - disabling the Virus Scanner, unistalling Nokia PC Suite and Palm Desktop, etc etc with no luck.

All of the PC Suite software appears to have installed except the mRouter - without this I cannot connect to the P900 which is not much use...

Sonyericsson have not made any useful suggestions as yet.

I am running Win2000 sp4 on a Toshiba Tecra 8200

Look here at a long thread about Win2K installtion and one option for resolving. Also note that Search is working again so have a look around at the old threads.

- had a look at the old thread and tried using msconfig in diagnostic mode and restarting w2k in safe mode.

No change the PC Suite installation runs fine until it calls the mRouter setup which crashes.

Have you got the docking station plugged in?

Unplug then try to install PCS software. I know this affected some people when we received the first P800 version of PCS about a year ago.

Plus remember to disable firewalls and AV software too, just in case.

- I've tried the installation with and without the docking station, with and without the AV running, always with the same problem.

I managed to install PC Suite on a friends laptop - his is the same Tecra 8200 running the same w2k - so I'm wondering if this is something left over from Nokia PC Suite or Palm Desktop, both of which I've uninstalled.

I had exactly same problem frankish, but everytime i tried to get it all conncted together - it crashed my (PC) system. I even reformatted my hard drive and tried it before installing any of the drivers for my hardware (such as audio and visual drivers) again, my system crashed! After a while I posted a cry for help on my-symbian and was advised to buy a MSD reader that plugs into my USB port!

I won't be able to do all these online updates that appear to be on the way and I can't sync with any of the software on my PC, but I can now download software for the phone onto my memory card and install it onto the phone.

My P900 is on the way and to be perfectly honest, I'm expecting the same problem with the new PC Suite. SE say it's a PC prob, the comp shop are absolutely baffled especially as I tried PC Suite with NOTHING other than windows loaded (hence, no software conflict)!

Nokia PC Suite

My colleague at work has not been able to unistall all the components of his Nokia 6310 PC Suite - therefore I would not be surprised if your version was fully uninstalled.

- I went through the registry and deleted anything to do with Nokia, mRouter, etc.

Still no joy - that makes 3 weeks I'm trying to install the PC Suite software...
