Upping this message, I have found that it happen if you are in the text writing windows. If you answer to an SMS, the phone (after it have sent the msg) return to the first "page" automatilcally. So no sound it is played if you receive a message while you are writing the answer.
Writing and sending the message (not an answer) make the phone return one step back when the message is been sent. At this time, if you have received a message while you were writing the first one, the alert is played.
If you were answering... goodbye message alert.
C'mon guys, anyone notice that?
