I guess that's why SE changed their "conversion" FAQ to indicate that the upgrade "Will not be applicable in all Markets"

So T68mc is not upgradeable??? Just as well I got a T68m

Well, in theory, you could get a firmware change to make the T68mc a T68m. Evidently, this has been done before but you lose Chinese menus and gain English T9. Then you could, in theory, upgrade to the T68i. The firmware for the T68mc is just a different animal.

Not really. I have a T68mc .. wanted to add languages to it but was told they can't because it would not accept based on the IMEI of the phone.

what dan47 said is true. I had a T68mc loaded with R2B Latin 2. The service point here in the Philippines seems to know what to do with "mc" units.

Here is a further answer from Ericsson, they said "not applicable to Asia Pacific region"
===================================================
Our Ref: ETC/T/C/020415IR

Thank you for your question. Further investigation with other counter
parties and we understand the "upgrade activity" is not applicable to Asia
Pacific region, which means not only China, but also other places e.g.. Hong
Kong, Taiwan and Singapore etc. The reason involve is more in technical
aspect. In fact in each country, our local engineers have to give reports
to our Global team on every product before launch, the report will state the
product software compatibility with the local network and other testing on
that particular product. Then our management will make decision according
to the market scenario.

By the way, the network service provider do not have the MMS available in
China right now. We are informed the availability will be either end of
this year or early next year.

We ask for your understanding and look forward your continue support to an
Ericsson product.

In the mean time, if you have further comments or suggestion, or need some
help, please do not hesitate to call Ericsson Customer Service Hotline at

I found the pic at Hulix's reply here:
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?mode=viewtopic&topic=5555&forum=2&start=660

pls notice Line 4, it look like "T68M MMS AsianLatin3 [en/simp"

then can I think that there's T68MC upgrade SW for Simply Chines&Traditional Chinese????
