While trying out themes on my T610 yesterday, I noticed that depending on what theme I activated, the free memory on the phone decreased or increased. For example, when i activated the "Magma Glow" theme, the free memory decreased and was less as compared to when the "Classic" theme is active.

Has anyone noticed this ?

My guess would be that the phone extracts the images from the .THM file when you choose a theme (which is why it takes so long to change themes) and the difference in the free memory that you see will be due to the different sizes of images used in different themes.

thats just an educated guess though.

@masseur:
I'm sure you're NOT mistaken. That's exactly what is happening.

@fijbert:
If you have a T610, why don't you try it yourself. Its much more convincing that screenshots.

and as far as attention grabbing is concerned... look at my posts in Esato (the only forum that I actually use)... I've only posted in topics that concern me or to help people with issues that I'm aware of. If I wanted to grab attention, my post count would read ">500".

in other words...... when classic theme is active there is MORE free memory than when other themes are active.

@ ac

You're right about this. And I think that masseur's explaination is probably correct. I also think that the phone unpacks the theme in unused memory and when the theme is ready it removes the old theme or maybe I should say the themes that is/was currently in use. If the phone is low on memory you can't chnage themes without freeing up some memory

correct vlam, which is supported by the fact that classic is 51Kb whereas MagmaGlow is 59kb

Also, when you have 20kb or less, it gives an error saying you can't change the theme because there is too little memory...
