Hello , i'm trying to use the company field in phonebook to store the address of a contact: there are 30 characters.
When i insert a new contact in T610 and i sync (via XTND) with Outlook it's all correct but if i insert the contact in Outlook with the address in the company field i find it truncated at 15 chars in T610 !?!

Any suggestion is appreciated.

Bye

I just tried this and confirm your findings.

I also went into XTND software, clicked on settings, then mapping, then contacts, then mapping, then show data and here it shows how the data will look on the phone vs how it looks in outlook and it shows the full 30 characters there so this is a puzzle.

Hello Masseur, thank for your reply, and for the test.
Now i'm searching other Sync software to try.
Do you know other sync software for T610 and Outlook ?

Masseur : for this problem (Company truncated at 15 chars when sync with Xtnd) i opened a problem at SE Support 3 days ago but i haven't any reply: please can you post the Windows ver. and Outlook ver. when you try to recreate the problem on your PC ? Thank you.

However i send the address in this manner :

i save the contacts from Outlook as .vcf file in a directory and send the .vcf file via IR

After this in T610 you can read all the information correctly.
But there are 2 problem:

1) for every .vcf sended i must accept it in T610.
2) i cannot sync contacts with Outlook by XTND

I'm running Windows XP Professional and Outlook XP with service pack 2.
The vcf approach is an interesting solution, albeit a slow and tedious one.

I'm interested to hear if you get any feedback from SE.

Thank you, i inform SE support about your configuration, if i have news i post immediatly in forum.

Yes, the single .vcf procedure is not very frendly but the result is good.

Conclusive post about 30 chars in Company field.

This is the reply from Extended Systems Support at my question about the length of Company field :

"The translator for the Ericsson phone in the free and full version of XTNDConnect PC only support the amount of characters that the older Ericsson phones support (like the T39). I know the new T610 supports more characters that the older Ericsson phones, but the software does not know that. I will put in a customer suggestion on your behalf regarding this issue."

Bye bye

There is a similar limitation on contact names: XTNDConnect PC truncates
contact names at the 15th character when synchronizing with Outlook.

A linked thread here

PS: Is there a war against m-y-t-6-1-0-.-n-e-t as I am unable to post urls to its forum...
