Small standby time on T68i |

Hi,
A week and a half ago I bought a T68i and I already needed to charge it 4 times. The two last times I directly checked the status after charging. It said 55h of standby time and around 6h of talktime. Is this normal ? This site speaks of 290h standby and the T68i whitepaper even speaks of 390h.
I should say it is the "Die Another Day" special edition.
It has the standard battery: Li-Polymer Battery BST-14 (700 mAh)
All battery consuming modes are off:
Infrared port: Off
Bluetooth operation mode: Automatic
Data comm: GSM only
My T68i has following service info:
R5D007
prgCXC125323
R5D007
prgCXC125326_T AE
LCD SW Versions
Test: 200109110
Current: 200109110
Customization MS
CDA 102103/231
R2A
Customization T AE
CDA 102103/231
R2A
Is it still to early to conclude something and will my standby time improve (up to 290h) by following recharges or should it already be that much ? Because this is really bad, even my old nokia 3210 had a longer standby time than this.
One last thing, I have a friend who bought the same model, and he has the same standby times, so I thinks it isn't my phone alone. Did they change something about the model in general ?
Thanks in advance.

have you checked the settings for displaylight? and also wait a while before checking the standbytime, immediately after charging the batterytime can be wrong.
otherwise it's not much to do then to bring it back to the shop for repair.

That is definitley not a design change. Unless you have been using the phone 24/7 you should get ~5 days use.

The standby time stays at 55h (for an hour that is ), even when i check it later.
Display light is at it standard value: Automatic.

Don't trust the estimated time 100% have you used it untill it started to warn about battery? I can talk a day after first warning also.
(unlike the Nokia I used that more then often just give one warning then die)
I charge my T68i 1time/week sometimes 2times if I have talked alot.
If you only have 1 or 2 bars on the reception estimated time will go
down alot if I'm in a area with very poor reception the estimated time is low and if I'm in a area with 4-5bars the estimated time go up alot. |

Last two times, I let it "die" and it was around 55 hours (give or take a few hours), so the estimation is quit right. |

ok and is your reception good/bad?
Sounds strange that you get so bad battery performans
one of the best things with T68i have been talk/standby time
for me. Well don't know anymore about this subject
perhaps someone else can shedd some light on it otherwise
a talk with a service center perhaps. |

One thing I can say is that you shouldn't let lithium polymer batteries 'die' - it is bad for them. Keeping them regularly topped up is the best way to ensure good performance out of them.

Do you have GPRS (on-line) and bluetooth activated all the time? What's about the infrared is it activated? This takes a lot of power. |

I specified that in my first post:
All battery consuming modes are off:
Infrared port: Off
Bluetooth operation mode: Automatic
Data comm: GSM only

Mine says 300 when fully charged and usually lasts about 270. It never lasts as well when new but even when i first bought it it lasted 200. You're not getting much out of there people they keep asking you the same questions! I recommend you take it straight back.

maybe its because u didnt charge it enough the VERY FIRST time? according to my operator, i need to charge it for at least 6 hours before i can use mine to ensure a good-performing battery.
...or, is this all crap? might have got my leg pulled. anyone to confirm this? |

@Gareth: My friend als bought one (in a differen shop) and he has the same standby time, so it would be a great coincidence to have 2 faulty mobiles. I was wondering if the provider has anything to do with it. In the US most use 1900MHz, but here in Belgium I'm using Proximus (900MHz) and my friend is using Base (1800MHz).
@GoH: Li-Polymer don't need a long first charge (if i'm right). |
