According to mobil.se the T610 sound problem is now fixed by SE. All new T610 leaving the production line is now corrected.
The already sold T610 will have to be sent in for adjustment.

it doesn't say that is enough for a firmware upgrade..
they say that that you should return it to a store that can send it too a SE certified service point..
hmm sounds like a long time..
But I am pretty sure it should be enough with a firmware upgrade. .so maybe they mean that you should go to a store that has that equipment.. alot of stores has that... |

I don't know if it is a firmware upgrade, but from the information by mobil.se it seems likely that it will require some hardware fix. They say that the fix can't be performed by the shop. It has to be sent to the authorized servicecenters, it will also sadly take a few weeks, which hints at a hardwarefix. |

Sony Ericsson: Sound problems on T610 are now fixed.
Sony Ericsson has now localized the error that caused a sound problem in their new phone T610.
- We have adjusted the units that are now produced at the factories and all units that leave the factories are corrected, sais Per Alksten at Sony Ericsson.
Those who have already bought a T610 can have it fixed, but it has to be sent in to be repaired. The neccessary adjustment cannot be done by the personel in the shops.
-The phone cannot be fixed immediately in the store but must be sent in to our authorized service points (serviceverkstäder) for adjustment, sais Per Alksten.
Those who do this must count on two to three weeks before they can have the phone back and fixed. Information on how the telephones are supposed to be mended is on its way to the service points, and the retailers are also to be informed about the problem.
A temporary solution that Per Alksten mentions is to use handsfree equipment to the phone - with a handsfree the noise does not appear.
- We regret utterly that this has happened to our customers and of course we want to give our customers a quality product that they can feel satisfied with.

I Just called sonyericsson helpdesk... And they didn't know anything about this.. He asked the engineers. and they told him that it still isn't done.. and yes.. they have read the article.. and they couldn't say anything..
I asked them if it they thought if it was hardware or software related.. they didn't even know that..
soooo... hmmmm |

I suppose the next question is how to identify units that have the problem, and those that don't.
presumably by serial number?

Serial number can be used to find out the affected units but from the sounds of it all of them are are the creek. |

@ Zacay
If Per Alksten says it is fixed, it most certainly is, since he is one of the top guys. But the service department most probably doesn't know about this yet.
