T68i - Master Reset bug - Data accounts 2 |

Last week I posted about a bug that seems to occur in all the t68i's that i have had (after you do a master reset all data accounts are lost every time the phone is switched off) on Saturday i went to carphone warehouse to pick up a replacement. This was a re-con t68i - guess what ? It has the same problem ! (engineers did master reset when re-conditioning it)
After arguing they gave me a brand new one that works.
The chap in the shop did manage to speak to a Sony Ericsson engineer that confirms that this is a problem with the software in the t68i. Unfortuantley he did not find out what s/ware version corrects this bug but the engineer did say its fixed in the latest version.
This is odd - I would expect the service center to upgrade software on phones being re-cond to the latest version ?
Any way does any one know what the latest version of the software in the UK is and does it fix this bug ?

"After arguing they gave me a brand new one that works."
So the two new ones you got still have the problem or not?
The latest official firmward release for the UK is R6A012.
A test version of R7A has been leaked which is only for the USA so it won't be too long before official versions come out. |

Just updated my phone in the UK with R7A005 & it solved the problem of the settings being deleted after I switch my phone off & on again. I dont know if it will still work after a master reset though. I darn't try it
Are you saying that even though I can keep my setting at the moment - if I do a master reset, it will keep deleting the data accounts I put in after restarting the phone?
By the way. R7A005 is available at the SE service center.

It's time for the first master reset on my t300 (testing pre-installed pic tip) and i'm a little bit afraid now:-(.
1- is this bug present in my t300 sw (r1d011) ?
2- after master reset, all operator datas will be load back from rom, or not ?
Thanks for your help ;-)

I've had one of my t68i phones replaced due to this fault, and I've been holding off doing a Master Reset on my new phone as I guessed this would happen (cause the data accounts to reset).
It's a real shame, as I would like all that free space without the need for rooting through the phone and deleting things bit by bit.
Well I suppose if I ever fancy a new t68i, I'll get a new one (through Orange UK Care) based on the fact that my 'current' handset won't store the data accounts!
Maybe wait until almost 12 months is up, then upgrade anyway giving me two brand new phones!! hehe |

Well i tried master reset again (very stupid) and i am now loosing data accounts again
Software version is R2E006 (same as all the other phones I had) Is this a very old version ? It seems odd to me as I got it brand new at the weekend.
Oh well time to pick up another new phone !
Does any one know about how to upgrade the software in London ? I heard that carphone warehouse will do it for free at a service center but i want to make sure they use the latest software as they seem to have no idea what they are talking about !

DAZ - yes that is a very old version for a t68i
It was what i was using before the upgrade.
Version R7A005 is the latest & mie fix the problem. I'm not sure if carphone warehouse will upgrade to this, as it's still a test version apparently |

Thought as much.... its not good that they are giving out new phones or refubished ones (which they say have been upgrgraded) with this old s/w version.
Ill try and contact them. Do you know any where else I can have it upgraded ?
