First of all I'd like to say hi to everyone, this is my first post even though I've been lurking around for a while trying to do a lot of reading before asking questions that have been answered many times before.....

I finally got a T300 (I got 2 actually one for the wife) and it looks good and works fine, however then I download a picture and check out its information (Fun & Games -> My Pictures->Select Picture->7. Picture info) it says Distribution: Not Allowed.

Note that I am talking about a picture that I generated myself, then uploaded to my website (http://www.hirobotechnique.com/p.gif) and used the T-zone (T-Mobile version of WAP) entered the address and it said that file needs to be downloaded 3K size OK to download, I said YES then it stored it in my images folder or whatever it is.

But The Send menu option os grayed out and it says that not allowed distribution that I mentioned earlier. I understand that if I download some pictures from my provider it would have the distribution disabled, but why will it block images to be sent that I generated, and stored on MY own website?

BTW the same goes for midi tones and themes downloaded in the same manner.

I have also tried to download backgrounds from ESATO and it would not even let me download them, the only way to download them is if I specify a link to the actual file, the wap browser will show the image but no way to save it.

However I sent a Nokia picture mesage from matrixm.com to my T300 and got the picture out of it and that picture works just fine, meaning it can be freely distributed sent etc.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening?
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Could anyone try to download the background picture to their phone from my sitie via wap and confirm if they can forward it or not from their phone? If they can then it is an operator limitation, if not then either both of our operators disable the send feature on downloaded pictures or it is a phone issue. I would REALLY like to figure this one out!

Thanks!

Thanks! I guess it must be a T-mobile US thing then. If it's not too big a hassle I'd love to hear from someone on T-mobile US or someone with the T300.

The link again, in case you can't locate it in the top post: http://www.hirobotechnique.com/p.gif

Or it could be the T-mobile wap gateway and the way it is set up. I guess I'll do some more testing myself too.......

Hi! You have three options to send pictures: 1- If you want to send via IRDA you have to enable it. 2- If it's MMS, you have to set up your phone for the MMS service if it is available on T-Mobile. 3- If you want to e-mail your photos then you have to set your e-mail account on the phone.

Charge426,
I am glad you could download the picture fine (It is actually a VW Passat Wagon ) what I wanted to know was if you select the picture in the my pictures menu and view it on the screen and then from the context menu will the Send field be enabled meaning, can you actually forward the picture to another phone in any way or form. Also in the same contect men if you select no. 7 Pictue info will it read Distribution Not Allowed?

flawless,
I appreciate your comment, however I am not a complete idiot and I have MMS enabled and I can send other pictures to other phones (even to a Nokia 8290 via picture message) but I cannot send THIS particular picture or any other picture that I have downloaded into my phone via WAP. And I wanted to confirm if it is a phone issue or an operator issue.

Since parvski confirmed that on O2 in the UK he could download it and the send feature was enabled on his t68, It could be because either a) the T68 works different and enables it or b) O2 works different than T-mobile and that is why it enabled it. If charge426 could confirm if his Send feature is enabled or not it could finally reveal if it is an operator or a phone issue.

If anyone else in the meantime on T-mobile US with a T300 could test this picture download out I would REALLY appreciate it too!

I have done some more testing and I created a new data connectin account (GSM type using my regular ISP), The I've used SE's wap gateway and downloaded pictures that way. I have had the same disappointing results meaning the pictures were locked to my phone and I was unable to forward them or send them via MMS.

So from this piece of information I think I can conclude (still waiting for other's confirmation) that it is a phone issue and has nothing to do with what data communication method (GPRS or GSM) or which wap gateway (T-mobil or SE) I use, the downloaded pictures are locked. This is totally BS if you ask me and I really don't know who I should contact in this matter.

I have the same problem. I made a wap site (http://wappy.to/amenenberg) and i can download stuff to my phone, but for example when i go to look at the picture, there is an X and it says Distribution: not allowed. This is same for ringtones, they show up in my sounds, yet i can't play it and i can't send it in an MMS. i also tried emailing the ringtones to my phone, but i don't know how to download attachments with my t300. can someone please email me some help, i sent the ringtones to my phone with my friends irda, but he lives far away and i want to be able to do it at my house, help is much appreciated, thanks, A-man

Wow!thats wierd!i havent encountered that problem before with our local network here. The distribution is unlimited. Why dont u ask ur network provider re that distribution thing. It could be a kb downloading parameter or maybe a file parameter. With nokia pic msg,u said no problem;but with SE,theres the problem.

i'm sure its not a kb parameter, i've downloaded pictures, ringtones, and themes succesfully from websites such as sony ericsson, or estaso. I guess the easiest thing for me would be if i could email ringtones to my phone, but i'm not sure how to retrieve attachments, would someone please help with this, thanks, help is MUCH appreciated.
