go to Menu (press the joystick)
go to Settings (shortcut press 5)
go to Master Reset (shortcut press 9)
if asked to confirm say YES (if you want all your files to be gone)

basically, master reset means to RESET (DELETE EVERYTHING) in your mobile phone. From Phonebook entries to SMS Messages to MMS to Voice Recorded Data to all your My Pictures to all your My Sounds. To make this long story short, it will delete everything except the onces that will make your phone not to function. All settings will also be return to how you got it the first time you bought your phone. You will recover the whole 1M+ available space for storage. You will also retain your games, but has deleted highscores.

I hope i explained it well.

I would never do a Master Reset.

Actually, I did do one but would never do another one. I bought a T68i on ebay and paid $395USD for it. I love the t68i and it was worth the money a couple of months ago but when I received the phone it was actually a t68ie ... Basically it was a phone from the asian market and not the american/europe market. This is fine with me as long as there is english (which there was). The bad thing was that the keypad was english and chinese characters, that bugged me.

I did a master reset on the phone and ever since I did it would not retain my internet settings. When I entered them back in, after a power down it forgot them. This started happening after the master reset.

After I sent my phone to SonyEricsson repair, they told me that the phone was not repairable and they had sent me a new phone. When I received the package back they sent me the EXACT SAME PHONE THAT WAS NOT FIXED!

When I called back quite angry they responded quickly and replaced my t68ie with a t68i. The software was old but it worked and worked A LOT better than the phone that I sent in. The T68i was quicker and more reliable than the t68ie that I bought on ebay. The software is R2B025 which I am thinking is rather old, but the phone works great and bluetooth works great so I am not complaining.

SO... I guess what I am trying to say is if you are buying a phone on ebay make sure you don't get a t68ie and if you do...

DON'T DO A MASTER RESET!

@virex: You can't do a master reset without accessing the menu. But try this tip I found in a post by Candiis. I haven't done it so no guarantees. Maybe you can get to the master reset.

----------------------
TIP:Access menu without SIM card (older models)

To access to the menu in your phone without having a SIM card inside do the following:

type **04*0000*0000*0000#

When display say "Wrong Pin" press 'NO' and you have access to most menus

T68m -> R2F0004 on Cingular - I want my MMS!
