had a phone call from orange uk today to confirm they expect the t610 to be available on there network at the end of the month beginning of june at the latest.
they were as usual unable to confirm pricing as this will no doubt be made up when they see how popular the phone is.
bit of good news and se finally sticking to a realse date what ever will happen next
java for the t68i hahaha just a joke before anyone starts another 10 threads on it

thanks for the info. i been contacting orange regularly about twice a week asking them if they got any info on release time. they did say that a few places like 'orange shop' or 'carphone warehouse' might be gettin these before official orange release, so chances are we might able get our grubby hands on a T610 around next week if we phone around !! i'm hoping anyway

It won't have been Orange calling you - especially since noone is customer facing departments has a date more specific than "May".

I can vouch for that.

Orange are rip off merchants, i cant believe I have to give them money every month for the shit service they give. And by the way Orange will have the phone last as usual as they cange the software and put their logo all over it. Expect it first on Voda or O2

Who cares about the Orange logos anyway,the13second trick got rid of them on my t68i and i now have the SE animation startup and shutdown:-)no doubt there will be a similar trick for the t610. As for when it comes out on Orange (19 May),i will wait till august when my contract is up and go 4 an upgrade! :-)

@jonbob
waqs definatley orange as the number on the phone was the same digits as the customer service number. also i had e mailed the the upgrade department and the guy on the phone introduced himself as that.
could be a coicidence
@ gemini what makes you believe o2 or vodaphone will get it first
love orange or hate them they were the first network to get the p800 a good few weeks before the supposed big networks
you may still be right but i would rather wait for orange.
been with both o2 and vodaphone and find the service and quality to be crap never had a problem with orange.
but i know many will have had the opposite experience

Orange are drastically improving with handset launches - but I'm going to be honest with you, the guys in upgrades don't have a specific date.

@BOYI Where did you get the 19th from?

It would seem to me that Orange are going to be first with the T610 (as they were with the p800). etccomms.co.uk, an orange reseller, already have pricing up on their site (~£115 on upgrade). However they don't have an official release date yet but I am guessing it will be mid-late May or possibly early June.

Yes, if you're with Orange there's a chance you'll get your phone first...

But who wants a phone with an Orange sticker placed on it?

I'll wait for my unmarked phone, cheers anyway.

This means the man with the lanyards has not yet left to pick up the lanyards and as such is not the man with the lanyards just yet

I'm going over on the 20th, back around the 25th (it's late and I really don't have the energy to dig up the flight tickets) and shall fill you in with all the details at that point

Jalu have a great time over there hope everyting goes Ok for you.

I have been with Orange for 4 years now and have been with all the other networks at some time, and I find Orange to be the best by far. Their customer services is second to none, and as for early releases of phones, well I would rather get one that works and have the Orange logo on it, than an early release that is so buggy you can't use it.

Well over the past four or five years I have been with Orange and Vodafone mostly (plus a very brief stint with btcellnet many years ago - I don't like to talk about that though!) and I think that although Orange used to be the best of a bad bunch by virtue of them being generally cheaper, I found that Vodafone (with Voda Ltd as the service provider - not singlepoint!) were best if you didn't mind paying a bit more. I recently moved back to Orange because I couldn't afford the extra expense of Vodafone. However now Orange are hiking prices up and doing other anti-social things (like upgrade policy changes, scrapping free 0800 on ovp virgin etc.) and so I don't think there is much difference anymore.

As for Orange Customer Services it varies enormously - one person you speak to can be incredibly helpful, polite and efficient, while the next you speak to can be a complete idiot who doesn't know anything and is generally incredibly unhelpful. A frequent expression I come across when discussing OCS is to use the rule of three: phone them up three times and take the average of the three different answers you get

Orange are fine as long as you want to do things which are within their narrow list of things they can do. If you want something out of the ordinary things can become extremely difficult and for no good reason at all - sometimes I think the OCS people enjoy being awkward!

Just my experiences anyway - if indeed they do get the T610 first then I might forgive their faults for the time being
