It works!
older iMacs and a number of G3s and many powerbooks are equipped with IR ports that are mostly useless for anything other than talking to other macs. apparently the sync software for OSX can solve this problem but my old bucket of bolts isn't ready for that. I spent many moons trying to uncover a workaround for my palm device and never succeeded - but tonight I came across an odd piece of software that seems to allow my mac and my T300 to speak to each other. Its called C Beam and it was developed for some weird pen device that had an IR port. Their documentation hinted it might work for other devices and it seems to work pretty well. Its free, it works, and it means i don't have to use my roommates viao quite as often...
