Problems calling with T68m and T68i |

Hia,
Quite some time ago i bought the T68m after about 3 months (rough estimate) i began to experience problems with my T68. The following happened.
When i tried to call i'd see the normal
Calling
name
But then it just quits and the screen is blank again (only see background). I was pissed as hell of course. I talked to my phonecompany lots of times, they giving me codes to deblock divertion of calls, tried to find errors in their masts (at least they sayed) and so on... it didnt work...
Then i got the T68i upgrade to see if that would work... and it did... a bit. I stilll have sometimes that it just wont call, whatever i do.
Not long ago a friend of mine also got the same phone ,a trade for a nokia 8310 (or whatever) with someone. And now (also after bout the same period of time) he got the same problem! He doesnt have the same provider as i do so that wasnt it.
I wonder if someone has had the same problem with his phone, maybe even knows WHY this happens.
Im starting to regret getting this phone, i think its brilliant, xept for this not being able to call.
It seems that it mostly happens when the battery power is low... tho my friend (T68m) can call only bout once a day, also with full power.
Does anyone maybe know? Im going crazy here...

FWIW, I've had a similar problem recently with my phone. I bought a t68i about 5 months and it's worked fine that entire time. 1 week ago my phone started acting funny. 95% of the time when I try to make a call, it says "Calling" for a few seconds and then beeps three times and drops me back to the main screen.
The other 5% of the time, I'll get connected, but the connection will die with the same 3 beeps shortly afterwards.
The exact same thing happens when people try to call me as well.
The voice mail notification seems to work pretty reliably, but I can't check my voice mail.
Often my phone will say "No Access" instead of my providers name.
I recently travelled and roamed onto another GSM network and had the exact same problems.
I took my SIM out of my t68i and tried it in my old Nokia 7190 (US version of 7110) and I have no problems so I'm pretty sure it's something wrong with my phone.
Could there be something wrong with the antenna or battery? This is a very strange problem that has only started happening recently. |

not much you can do about it... a servicepoint can try to change the antenna and/or do some solder on the antennaconnector... but often it's some other weird hardware problem causing the problem... so in most cases the servicepoint will have to give you a replacement unit instead |

Do you think it could be the antenna? The signal strength doesn't seem to be affected according to the reading on the display. |

Omg,so i am not the only one...
What one of the salesman sayed at the place where i bough it was that is was a problem that exsisted in the 2nd line of t68m's who came form the factory... But as you say the t68i of u did the same, i can see it to be bullsh*t.....
Damn... i feel raped for 605 euros...

I solved all your problems! The common problem, which i myself experience, happens when you are in an area where the service isn't too great. If you look at your phone, you will probably have too little service, (the bars will be at the lowest, or no bars at all!) and it might grasp the service for a second when dialing the number, but loses the signal, and it automatically goes into the "no service" mode, where you can't call out even if you pressed send. So go to a better area where your signal is stronger!

imho, it has everything to do with the service provider and not the indicative signal strength bars on the phone....i haf experienced similar (even when the phone shows full coverage) in times where the cell cannot support more than its designated capacity.....kinda annoying....so in protest, i swapped sim cards back to my old phone (nokia by the way) and the same happens: call dropped even with full signal strength)....same thing with my frens at the same time (same service provider, different phones)
A call to the service provider soon sorted the matter out....of coz with their humble apologies....but they do know which cell is on max capacity...usually happens during festival seasons etc or when something major happened (eg. sept 11 etc)...
try calling the service provider...if that still fails, suggest you bring phone back to sonyericsson and haf them look into it....

I have exactly the same problem as described (ie. full reception but unable to make / receive calls, no access messages, etc, etc).
This is not a network provider as my SIM card works perfectly well in other phones in exactly the same area.
The only other thing I can add is that I think that my problems seem to have been triggered by using the T68's WAP facility.
I also can't get my phone to work again easily!! It seems to be completely random.
Has anyone got a solution before I'm forced to change this phone???? |

My solution:
Here in holland companys are obiged to replace your phoe if they cannot fix a problem within 3 tries. Ive send it away for the 2nd time now, when i get it back ill send it away again (f00k them) adn they will need to replace it. As the t68m aint made no more, ill get a t68i. just hope the t68i doesnt have the same problem.

don't count on it... even though the production of new T68m is discountinued there are still T68m swap units available... |

this is more an operator problem. i have the same here in belgium sometimes during to buzzy hours when everyone is calling i can't get in, it means your network is to buzzy. theres nothing you can do about it. ever since GPRS came along your network will be more buzzyer unless the set more antenna's are use a dualband network.

I have exactly the same problem since 3 weeks !!!!!
I am in France and my provider is Bouygues Telecom.
My T68i did work perfectly for 5 months before thata and i've experienced this problem in locations where I used to have excellent reception such as my home or my office ...
When I switch back my SIM to my old 8210, everything is working fine !! This is a real mistery to me. I don't know if it's linked to the operator or the phone ... I will switch phone with a friend who is on another provider this week-end and see if it's still showing problems.
At least it's a bit comforting to see I'm not the only one experiencing this .
Cheers
