P800 PC Suite Installation error "timeout period expired" |

Hi!
I have tried to install PC Suite v1.0 for P800 and I cannot make it work with USB cradle.
I always get self registering errors when trying to install the software. This of course makes it impossible to make the software work afterwards. I cannot manually register the necessary DLL's either, I just get a error message saying something strange.
I used the standard installation options.
I use a Windows 2000 computer with SP3 and have 512mb RAM and a 733mhz P3 processor. I have installed the USB Driver and the phone and computer finds each other.
Has anyone but me have/had this problem, and if you do, How did you solve it??
The fiirst error message was recieved after "Processing Mobile Phone Monitor files" and "Processing sync Station files..." and "processing dial-up networking wizard says: "This operation returned because the timeout period expired". This occurs for Broadcastproxy.exe, capman.exe, epocinst.exe
The other error I recieve is a "self-Registration error". "The following files did not self-register or unregister:"
sync.ocx, l0rg6loader.dll, notespimadaptorloader.dll, outlookpim.dll, lorg5loader.dll, wabpim.dll. Class not registered".
I clicked "OK" and tried to continue installation anyway (otherwise the software is uninstalled) The installation then continues to process dial-up networking wizard files.
I click on OK and agree to restart computer. Afterwards I try to register the files manually using regsvr32 but I recieve error message that this cannot be done.
I have tried to register alt.dll and repair the installation, but the repair fails. I have tried to reinstall and uninstall and tried several languages without success. I have tried this on three different computers with the similar setup (windows 2000 pro sp3).
Can anyone help me?? Without the registrations, the software does not work. Is there a updated version of the software available anywhere? or is there a simple solution to this problem?.
I really appreciate any help in this case.

Yes, check this out (from SE support):
The user has earlier uninstalled a XTND Connect sync.
When installing P800 PC SW a number of registration errors occur
with the error message
'The specified module could not be found.'
Workaround:
For Win2000 or XP Run (in a DOS prompt or Run dialogue):
regsvr32 %windir%\system32\atl.dll
For ME Run (in a DOS prompt or Run dialogue):
%windir%\system\regsvr32 %windir%\system\atl.dll.
(The user may as an alternative reinstall XTND as an alternative
to regsvr32 but this is not a good solution as he really did not
want the XTND application)
Then insert the Pc Suite for P800 CD and in the Control Panel, Add
remove programs, Choose Pc Suite for P800 and choose repair.
Example: If atl.dll is in c:\windows\system32 Klick 'Start' button,
Choose 'Run' and enter 'regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\atl.dll', then
insert the Pc Suite for P800 CD and in the Control Panel,
Add remove programs, Choose PC Suite for P800 and choose repair. |

Hi!
I have tried using the solution described above, however, this seem not to help in Windows 2000 with SP3 very well, but it did help me to solve the issue at last.
This is not a efficient way to solve the problem and I really hope that SonyEricsson rewrites this software from the beginning since there are a lot of bugs and a very little tolerance in it, both during installation and during usage.
Here is what I did:
- Uninstalled all phone software and Pocket PC software including Activesync
- Installed the P800 PC Suite software with a minimum of addons (IE only the system files that MUST be installed)
I got the error messages described in this thread
- I used REGSVR32 and registered atl.dll (This had to be done after the software installation)
- I repaired the installed software twice (first time I got the same error messages, the second time I did not)
- I added the addons ONE BY ONE (otherwise the same errors would occur again)
- Software is now installed and functioning
I did not reboot for each change, that was not necessary, only when I had no error messages left, I restarted the computer.
Worth to notice is that I also tried to install the software on Windows XP Professional, and there it worked OK.
...Now I have problems with the synchronization of the calendar, but that is another issue and I will lift that to the correct forum.
Thank you for your help!! That really helped me out!
