bugger! I have to wait until Saturday as the guy at the local SE service centre here in Frankfurt is a miserable git and wants to charge me 30 for upgrades and I won't give him the pleasure of taking my money.

Its good to know that message alert tones can be now customized.
What about the volume keys next to the camera button ? Do they always indicate volume ( as i thought they should have!! ) or is that still the same ? |

One important thing, can you check and see if bluetooth on T610 with R3b has improved the quality and connection with BT headset? Cos with R1L, there still a bit crackling and very often T610 doesn't pick up receive calls..........really hope this firmware does solved this issue. Thanks !

Question to norwegian ppl: Do i need to send the phone in to upgrade the firm. Or do they flash the phone while i wait in the store. When i updated my t68 to t68i i had to wait 2weeks, Hehe sucks.

@deceased:
I upgraded the phone yesterday. Took 30 minutes. I took it to a service center though, not to the store. I've actually upgraded the phone 5-6 times there, never took more then an hour. Never paid either

@wrath - can you give us a definitive breakdown on what's new in this firmware then please?

I have to say, there are very few visible changes.
-When you play recorded conversations, they now play over the loudspeaker (better quality playback then before (the mms method))
-No change with ringtones SMS or normal...
-The menu in JAVA still flickers on change
-I havn't tested JBench yet, will do it later...
-Pictures taken with the camera appear to take up less memory!? (avrg 19kb for large size photo)
-Pictures taken with the camera appear to be clearer (might have to play around with shutter speed) on the phone screen, havn't had a chance to look at them on PC yet.
-Sound appears to be louder, but it's possible it's just my imagination.
-Themes still taking just as long to load
-1 Less click for text messaging. Now you get to skip a step (goes straight to "find contact" instead of "Number", you can still go to "number" with a new menu choice.
-When choosing word alternative in T9 while replying to message, pressing the joystick in will no longer send the message, but accept the word. (Finally!) While not in T9 word selection, joystick in will send the message.

sounds good. I think I'll upgrade my phone soon.
Do all the games and such disappear when I upgrade the firmware?

Could you check if switching to small picture size still zooms (i mean uses only the center part of the CCD) or resamples the picture taken with the whole CCD area?

Can the recorded sounds be used as ringtones?

Small Size photos appears to function exactly as before.
You can't set recorded conversations as ringtones.
