You have to use their WAP site via links or else pay a certain amount to be able to use pop3 and smtp.

You have to log onto the SMTP server before sending. Outlook allows you to do this, your mobile doesn't. That's why it doesn't work.

Someone once told me to try this and it works..

WEB....Login to your Yahoo account, click 'Options' on the left under Search.
you should see a page with 3 headings, Personalisation, Mail Management & delivery Services.

under Mail Management at eh bottom click 'POP Access & Forwarding'

if you have 'Yahoo!Delivers' activated then goto Step 1 - if not then activate it & choose to receive emails in text format then come back to this page and continue...

Step 1 - Choose:
Web and POP Access

Step 2 - Choose:
Text messages only

click 'Submit' and your done here....then follow the following instructions to setup your T68.

On Your Phone:
in your T68, goto Messages, 4.Email, 7.Options, edit account or create if Yahoo is not there already then fill in the details as below - all fields in (brackets) are for your details which i dont know.

1.Connect using:

7.Outgoing server

ani( ! )al,

contrary to popular belief you can setup Yahoo mail to be accessed via POP settings without subscribing.

first you have to login to your Yahoo account on the WEB and activate YahooDelivers...figure this part out and get back to me if you have further problems.

i tried to follow your suggestions with making it possible to send&receive emails from yahoo on T68.
when i got to the pop forwarding step in yahoo webpage, i first activated Yahoodelivers, but when entered the forwarding menu, the only thing i get is the request to pay for the forwarding option.
any advise on that ?
i have a "yahoo.com" account.
thanx,
regards,

I'm on Orange Business 200 (now Everytime 200).
I couldn't get Yahoo! to work at all with Orange WAP. With Ericsson WAP I could receive but not send, but with Vodafone WAP I can do both!
BTW, for me using Vodafone WAP is okay as I get free cross-net calls, and I just sent the configuration from the SE site, just saying I'm on Vodafone rather than Orange.

Yahoo! Mail in the U.S. started charging it's users for POP2/SMTP access from late April 2002. Yahoo! U.K. have not implemented this.

However, if you have a "yahoo.com" email domain rather than "yahoo.co.uk" or other tagged to the end of your email id, Yahoo! U.S. will claim you as one of theirs and charge you if you want to keep your POP/SMTP access.

It's a bit unfair as "yahoo.co.uk" was not available until the last couple of years, before that you would have got "yahoo.com" regardless of where you are. Yahoo! will not change your email domian, even if you are a non-U.S. resident or even if the mail server they assign you is the U.K. pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk (which is a bit outrageous).
