Hi all. I am on O2 an recently got my account set up form MMS. I have been trying to do a test by sending myself an MMS message from my phone but every time I get the message "User barred". I just tried sending myself an mms from one of those free mms sites and I received it fine so I know that I can receive mms messages. Is it simply a case of being unable to send mms messages to yourself or have useless O2 not set up my account properly?

Thanks in advance,

Phil.

hey, I've got this problem too!

They said that you can't have GPRS and MMS on one handset - you need to choose. So I chose MMS. They sorted it out for me but I'm STILL getting the message!

I think that what they have told you is that you cant have data GPRS and MMS/WAP GPRS on one handset. this is wrong - you can simply add another APN but that is a different argument! Their staff are so useless - wouldn't know a phone if one smacked them in the face.

I sent them an email yesterday and cc'd it to their complaints department because I refuse to phone them AGAIN at 50p/min. Unsuprisingly I stil haven't had anything back from them.

TBH I dont know what to say - nobody seems to have an answer and until I hear back from O2 I cant shed any light on the situation.

Regards,

Phil.

ok, got an email from o2 today and it is all working. they even refunded the cost of my wasted call!

This was their reason for it not working:

"The MMS provisioning was stuck on the system..."

Whatever that means!

to call o2 with out paying for the 50pence/min, call 4444, let it run throught 3 times then you will have option to talk to customer services, i do this every time seeing as i am on the phone to them for about 30+ mins every day trying to get my problem fixed, been 3 weeks and still counting!!!!

i had to wait 5 days for an email back from o2 support but it was worth it cos its finally been sorted.

even though you have to wait so long I think its definately worth emailing instead of phoning. they seem to have all their smart people doing email and all the dummies on the phones!!

like I say, if you do want to phone them, dial 08702 259933 (national call rates, rather than 50p/minute) then go option 2 (online) and option 3 (disconnections). because that is the disconnections line they will help you cos they think you will no longer be a customer if they dont!! if you get an awkward git, say you have been ealing with someone on this line but you didn't get his name!

What happens is when you ask for them to enable MMS on your phone they do two things: enable GPRS and then enable MMS.

Your phone should be GPRS enabled almost instantly (you will probably need to switch your phone off and then on again.

Once they have recognised that your phone is GPRS enabled they will switch on your MMS which can take up to 24 hours. Check to see if you have GPRS and then wait a day or two to see if you get MMS setup. If not then you will need to contact O2 support and get them to pull their fingers out.
If you want to email them then use this address: mycare@o2mail.co.uk
I also copied my email to their complaints department: complaints@O2mail.co.uk

Good luck,

Phil.

remember - dont phone them! its expensive and even if you call the 08705 259933 number they are a waste of time.

the email support take a few days to reply but sort it out perfectly.

I think O2 have not got a clue. I have GPRS enabled but they tell me I can't have both. Just received my bill & noted that my tarrif is O2 400 MMS. On top of that they are refusing to answer my emails. Just mailed them again and advised that I'm witholding payment until I get a response from someone that knows what they're talking about and they start responding to my emails.

Yo!

Had this exact same problem again. I called O2 twice because the first one was being a complete prick...he said that 'you can't use GPRS on Pay and Go'. My ass!

Then I phoned the second time about MMS and GPRS, and she said it will be fully operational in 24 hours. B****cks to that! I tried 24 hours later and my T300 said something like 'Settings incorrect - recheck'.

Basically, I am still stuck on the MMS bit. I also HATE them when two different people give you different versions.

I am and tired of this now!
