If I am using NowMMS with their Dialup USA T-Mobile settings and I have free weekends, is the data transfer when I dial up this number charged as data in my T-zones account, or am I just being charged for the minutes I am on the Now MMS dialup T-mobile wap server? I tried calling T-mobile and the cust. service rep was clueless. Thanks guys!

When you are connected using gprs you are charged by the kb you can also connect using csd which is slower than gprs but will charge by the min. And is included in free nights and weekends. My t300 was not set up for csd out of the box, but try data support at 1960 from your set and they should be able to help. Or if you want i could give you the settings

Thanks for both the question and reply, I was just wondering this and didn't want to waste my time with the csr.

could you post the settings. So you would be able to use dial up and browse or send emails for free if you have free minutes at a certain time? How fast is the connection using dialup?

The connection is pretty slow, but it does fine for free. You have the settings sent to your phone thru SMS at www.nowmms.com after signing up. Just choose US TMOBILE DIALUP as the one to send, and you are all set. I think the call is in the 912 area code, plus it appears as a Mobile-to-Mobile on my online statement which means with my free m-2-m minutes, I may be able to get the internet all the time for free.

Ok, to be sure I emailed Tmobile and finally got a response. It had to go tier 3 to get there and i'm glad Tmobile has competent enough customer service to know about complicated issues unlike other providers (cough..ATT...cough):

A) I have a T300 and when I try to setup my Tmobile Email POP3 settings, I cannot enter my Tmobile Mailbox ID (********) because it is too long. Is there any way you guys could manually configure my name so maybe I didn't have to include my area code in the mailbox account? (**********). I have checked and this will fit. I would like to be able to synch my T300 with outlook and compose email internally and this would help me a great deal.

b) Do the weekend minutes on my Family Plan included unlimited weekend long distance?

c) If I set up my Data account on my phone to dial up to a CSD Dialup Cellular Data Line and I use that to browse the web, will you be charging me for the amount of time I take dialing up to that internet number or will the data use be deducted from my T-Zones Account of 1mb?

Response (Data Services 3) - 01/31/2003 08:26 PM
Thank your taking the time to contact T-Mobile.

Your first question is about POP3 e-mail settings and to answer your question, if your e-mail address won't fit, then there isn't a way around that. We wish there were a way, but it is just a limitation of the field itself in the application. Perhaps Adelphia.net can somehow provide you with an alias to use as an alternative to your long e-mail address or help set up another e-mail address.

On a Family Plan, weekend minutes include unlimited long distance as long as you have a Nationwide rate plan. Also, CSD uses your minutes instead of Megabytes, so you can use your unlimited weekend minutes for CSD if so desired. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. If you have any other comments, questions, or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

Thank you for choosing T-Mobile.
Sincerely,
Peter

Yeah, I actually called them to find out. I spoke to a newbie CSR the first time and she told me it would be counted as data and not minutes since it was...ahem..data. I explained that it was dial up and she still was firm on it being data. I called back and another CSR told me otherwise. Nowmms.com is a good service. No problems using it, IMHO, I think it is a bit faster than Tmobiles WAP.

from unbilled statement

1/31/03 Access Internet 11:29 AM 913** (F) 1
1/31/03 Access Internet 11:33 AM 913** (F) 1

Yep - they do count as Mobile 2 Mobile minutes. This was used during peak time. I bet there will be a few people abusing nowmms knowing this.

(F) - stands for M2M

Glad I just bought my CHA-10 so I can use IM on the go all the time for FREE. This is a pretty big deal in the US cause they charge a ton of $$$ for data services normally.

Is T-Mobile the only provider that gives access to 'Cellular Data Lines'? What about AT&T? Also, is this feature exclusive to the T300? -Thanks

I have a t68i as well, but with a At&t GSM account, is there a way of doing this as well instead of using data, but minutes for mms, thanks.
