Are these available or will i have to keep on booting into XP to transfer files??

I also had this issue this month. The 2.6 versions of the kernel have support for the device. I've used it to access my K700's modem over the serial line. You'll need some software to transfer files, something that can read OBEX data from the serial line. Do a Google search.

All i did was mount the drive and it worked. It should work with 2.6 and it should work on ubuntu

This is my 'dmesg' when i put the DSS-25 in the USBO port ( Ubuntu Hoary, kernel 2.6.10-5-686)

usb 2-1: FTDI FT232BM Compatible converter now attached to ttyUSB0
This is my 'cat /var/log/messages'

So i guess it will work. Haven't tried it, but it looks good.
