Hello,

When I either connect or disconnect the phone from the USB cable, my Windows xp sp2 system crash and reboot. It did not happen on the first connection and disconnection (I do follow all windows instruction step by step to diconnect the device safely), but when trying to reconnect it just afterward, the PC crashs et reboot. So it's impossible to update my phone 'cause when reconnecting the phone by holding down the "C" key makes a system crash.

I did know that Mac had a similar problem but never heard anything about a windows OS.

Do you thing that might be a hardware (usb cable) failure ?

P.S. note that my phoen is fully recognized by PC Suite.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

So you plug it in and it works but when you plug it back a second time it crash ?

Try to change of usb port first

Yes, after a second plug it crashes

I did change usb port but it's still not working properly

Plug the phone in and remove the drivers for the K750i, reboot computer, install the drivers back and try again.

When uninstalling it from the Device Manager the PC crash just afterward.

The PC reboot and find the drivers on itself.

And now when upluging the phone using the icone in system tray, it crash too.

How can I fully remove (uninstall) the k750 in order to get "new device found" and insert the CD ?

In the meantime I will try to install it on another PC so that I can see if it works or not.

Do a system restore to a point prior to the installation of the se software and drivers.
Then reinstall the software.

Unfortunately, I do not have a prior valid point of a system restore (I do not know why but it's a fact.

So I would like to remove all remaining SE files and drivers + registry key.

For drivers, that was easy (all k750** files in system32\driver but for the rest I do not know how to remove them properly in order to make a fresh reinstall from the CD. I did wipe out all key according to Sony Ericsson with Jv16 Power Tools software but some files remain somewhere.

P.S this not a cable problem because it works on another PC.

I dont know how to manualy delete the registry keys, however if you have uninstalled everything else then try system mechanic 5 free trial from here http://www.iolo.com/sm/download.cfm
There is a registry cleaner that will remove all redundant registry keys from your pc. I have system mechanic 4 and use it quite often.

This might remove everything else that you need to remove, if it does then try a clean install of the se software.

Also right click on my computer, go into properties, then go into the system restore tab and check the box 'turn on system restore'. Then you can create a restore point before you go any further.

Hope this helps.

Sorry for bringing up this again.. but I find myself with the same problem, and did all that is done here... unless deleting the Everstrike... folder, cause I dont have this software...

So what do I remove in order to get my k750 working with my PC ??
please help, I wish I could transfer files again... need to take some pics, and memory is full, and I cant delete the pics or stuff in my cell

anyone? I have tried a 20 times already, but I cant seem to get it done

I found on windows/system32/drivers/.. a lot of SE drivers for different phones than mine too... amongst them the V800 drivers (have no idea how they get in there..)

Anyhow I wonder why SE didnt make a double boot driver... with that I mean... you connect the phone to the pc thrue the usb cabel, and a box with 2 options appears in the pc or cell screen... so you can choose flash option or normal file transfer option!!! that would be the best solution!!

Anyhow until SE do that... I still in need of help...

Thanks in advance

Please folks... anyone got a Idea why my windows crash when Im disconnecting the usb cable from my k750i?

I cant seem to make the usbflash go away, so I can install again the k750 drivers.. so windows detects it as a drive (so I can download and upload the files)

...by the way, I´ve got my phone unlocked from my operator at a store here in spain... but I believe they didnt do anything... :S cause when I get into the service info ( >*<<*<* ) in sim lock... there isnt any changes (I havent tried with any spanish operators cause I want my mobile to work with my pc, before I get a new number)

Please help me... has been 10 days since my last reply... and I have really tried hard

Thanks in advance

I have a similar problem where after I unplug the usb cable a second time, no links in IE will work anymore so I have to reboot.

I emailed SE about it to see if there are plans to bring out stabler drivers but i received there cut and paste standard response that there are no plans to provide better drivers.

my prob is that when i plug in my usb cable to the phone my lightning icon does not appear showying that the phone is busy charging so that it can detect the pc. so now what i have found out is that i must wigle the cable up and down where it plugs into the phone by the battery. its just plain difficult to get that lightning icon appear. n
e 1 experienced this problem? what must i do?

Ahhh Win XP and USBs...my XP crashed with pretty much any USB device constantly esp my K750 , tore my hair out. I reinstalled everything so many times trying to fix it!

Local ISP said USB and pentium 4 hyperthreading just a complete mess together so I have turned hyperthreading off (in BIOS from memory) and it is much better (with media player and other programmes too)

I would try turning off hyperthreading (if you have it) and see if it helps.

Now use a Mac most of the time and such hideous stability issues are a thing of the past..

I've worked on hundreds of P4 systems and rarely had a problem with USB ports related to hyperthreading. I have however seen many blown usb ports that cause computer reboots when devices are plugged in. The USB rail is very sensitive. When one rail blows, usually the ports on other rails are okay, so try using different ports if you haven't already.

And before you start casting unfounded aspersions on Intel, would it be too much to ask you to NOT blame EVERY COMPUTER PROBLEM someone has on some sort of Microsoft/Intel conspiracy to provide inferior computers? It's actually Microsoft code that causes the Hyperthreading problem (not the P4), and in fairness the code was implemented before Hyperthreading CPU's were in use. MS will fix the problem in due course.

Infact, if it were a hardware issue, then the intel mac would suffer the same fate.

why am I not suprised? releasing an non-stable updateservice towards servicepoints is one thing but to release it to there customers as well... hmmm... have had a bit of rush here I think...

Settle down mate. Disabling hyperthreading solved the problem for me, so I offered my experience to this forum in response to a problem someone was having.

My IT provider described numerous problems with USBs and P4s so was pleased I wasn't the only one. I don't believe any conspiracy theories , and I think Intel make excellent products.

Go flame someone else...

Well, then why bother with the above statement? Mac have less compatibility issues true; they have more control over the entire manufacture process.

But "hideous stability issues" are also a thing of the past for the wintel platform. As with most MAC users, you assume because of your own bad experience with wintel that any problems must be endemic. You also assume that MAC is somehow perfect and never crashes and never has issue with hardware incompatibility.

You offer a solution to the problem (turn off ht), a perfectly viable solution in 90% of cases, and then proceed to claim that the wintel platform is beset with stability issues. It's simply not true (it was once but the platform has matured). So if people decide to sprout inaccuracies I will correct them. Arrogant? Yes. Flame? No, just information presented with an undercurrent of frustration with the continual spreading of faulty claims about wintel.

It seems that it's perfectly okay (in fact trendy) to love the MAC platform to a fault, and to slander Wintel everytime someone mentions a problem with their PC, but those who prefer Windows XP/Intel don't seem to be entitled to have the same feeling about their own preferred platform.

So I'm sorry if I over-reacted to your claims, but maybe just maybe you jumped on the anti-wintel band wagon without really thinking it through.
