This is going out to all my fellow k750i users. Recently i have started to notice the cam button on my phone start to corode a little, im not sure what metal the button is made from or whether any of u k750i users are having a similar problem. Ive had the phone now about two months and dont feel i used the camera enough to warrant this.

plz let me no if anyone else out there has this problem.

many thanx.

My one dosen't have this problem.
Are you sure you haven't scratched the surface of the button allowing the metal underneath to corode ?

I dunno mate, sounds a bit dodgy to me, unless you have scratchedor dropped the phone i'd take it back and get a swap, its definitely under warranty anyway.

Is the button really made of metal? It looks like plastic with a chrome finish.

Posted by brat
Ya the button is in fact msde of plastic

Got any pix?

As said, its not metal corrision. It is plastic with chrome finishing and it might be that that finishing is wearing off. Could just be because of the way you carry it (i.e. does it come in regular contact and slip with something hard like keychain etc.)

well i bought it 2 months ago, used it for three days and then went to dubai for 5 weeks leaving phone at home in box. There should be no reason for this as it has had very little use. Does anyone no %100 what the button is made from?

Posted by voda_jon
its plastic coated with a chrome finish. the only way it could wear is continued use i.e. 2-300 times a day... i have taken over 500 pics with mine and the button hasnt faded or changed in any way what so ever.

if it has been scratched a little then that could start it to blemish an ultimately wear off....

Posted by livestrong
pretty sure its not scratched and i must have taken 100 pics at very most.

Posted by voda_jon
u jus plain unlucky then. mine is perfectly ok.... lol. taken about 500 pics if not more....

i'd take it back an tell them u want a replacement as its a manufacturing defect.

Any other k750i users having this problem as i no of 4 other people who hav had this problem, Still not really to sure wats the cause of it

no problem from my side mate. may be just usual wear n tear. may be your place's weather conditions are affecting it.

same thing happened to my k700 online button, hardly pressed it as well..but then that's made of rubber and changed color cos' of water methinks

Posted by livestrong
does anyone no wat causes this

Posted by dgilmartin
Its definitely wear and tear, its from putting the phone in and out of your pocket, Its now starting to happen on my W800i. SE do it once again by using another piece of plastic lightly coated in a silvery metallic substance that wears off easily, God that was a long sentence!

Posted by livestrong
yeh thats fine but in one of my original posts i stated that my k750i had very little usage due to the fact i bought it used it very little then went 2 dubai 4 a month then on my return within a couple of weeks i started 2 notice it. so it happened within 3 weeks of which that was very minimal use???

Posted by mcrosser
maybe someone used it without your permission while you were away???

same thing happening to my w800 and i dont use the cam that much

That brown crap on the button is not caused by wear and tear....wear will rub the chrome off to reveal the creamy coloured plastic underneath.

Anyone out there got a spare case to experiment with?

My guess is its solvent or mineral oil based corrosion. Simply as i had same thing happen to mine after takign a picture of some MTB brakes I had bled and still had fluid on my hands....and yes mine looked exactly the same as that. (easy to replace a button though)

i think those brown thing is coating so that the chrome will stick to the plastic.

Mine did the same, the phone is 6 months old

rusty...? lol sorry mate but its plastic...

As mentioned in this thread, the button is made of plastic and the paint is falling off. It has happened to me as well - not only on the camera button, but also on the joystick and it looks silly! It also makes the joystick pretty sharp ... now I have small scratches on my thumb

This problem - together with the annoying background noice while talking on the phone - eventually made me sell my K750!

I have the same problem!.

I bought my K750i 2-3 months ago, and had aprox. 1000 photos.

It's a pity that SE didn't use a better material for that button .

A layer of that shiny stuff has come off my cam button too. But underneath it is another metalic coating, but its lighter in colour.
The layer that came out had a slight brown tinge to it. Now the new layer is more silver/metalic in colour...
