Hi Guys,

I was just wondering if there was any software that automatically can connect u to a wireless network so that u don't have to enter all the boring IP codes, and DNS servers etc.

Is there, thanks!

Are you talking about your own wireless network or hotspots?

you will always be able to connect to your own wireless network if you dont set a password as long as it's detectable.

You'll get faster transfer speeds as well but run the risk of others connecting to the network.

Windows XP with SP2 is particularly good at finding and auto setting to a network and all you need is a password if it's secured.

If it's your own network your router should automatically set your IP address. Check that DHCP is enabled in your wireless router

I dont like you saying IP's are boring

I know loads of ip's that are great fun

@Chazzer

Yeah, install SP2 if you haven't already. Your wireless router (or wired router if you're using a wireless access point) should have a web-based setup wizard, and you can use XP's built in wireless networking wizard to do the rest.

There aren't any programs that I've ever come across that do a better job of it than XP, believe it or not!

Just be a bit wary of installing SP2. It usually goes in alright but I'd still back all of your important up first.

As per @cyco XP with SP2 is a doddle, search, connect and once connected you're away (I'd enable WEP and if poss hide your SSID).

PS my Mac Mini also connected to my wireless network with no fuss I was VERY impressed (it's bluetooth is even more impressive)

@mince WPA, not WEP! Preferably with AES encryption, TKIP if not.
