@manfran
first time to browse the thread. Sa dami na ng cartoons, it is really about time you publish all of these. Bakit si Pugad Baboy, mayroon sa National Bookstore...similar rin yung mga pinupunto niya - the grim realities of the average juan de la cruz NOW!!!!
Kaya, really count your talents and blessings. Galing Mo!!!!
Kung puede nga lang iprint sa t-shirts yang mga gawa mo for added appeal and exposure... Siyempre exclusive to Esato ph members lang.
That means pag suot mo t-shirt na bearing a Manfran cartoon, ah Esato member yan...
I like the Sona liza and the Fat statue of liberty.

During martial law, the media (including cartoonists) had to endure tight censorship. I thought that was a bad thing. But I think that today's greater freedom of the press is not necessarily a sufficiently better thing by itself. Most of us have gotten jaded about government corruption.Anomalies no longer surprise us. Reporting, in general, seems to have lost the power to enrage.
This is because of the public's perception that all accusations and counter-accusations of corruption are politically-motivated, with hidden agenda, for money and power. We're not sure who the good guys and the bad guys are.
I have a tattered 70s Jingle songbook where anti-government writing is hidden within a National Bookstore ad, barely perceptible. A whispered song that many strained to listen to.
If manfran did in the 70s the overt stuff that he's doing now, he would've been given hell for it. That would've been glorious. Right now we are readers whose eyes are afflicted with the cataract of cynicism, apathy, and doubt.

@ynohtna, will work on the book soon. Thanks for the encouragement.
@chilli, tama ka dun, kung 70's ngayon malamang kinukuryente na testicles somewhere inside Crame, hehehe! But alam mo, it was also during the 70's there were award giving bodies that recognizes the editorial cartoonists' achievments. Daming artists, cartoonists na sumikat during that time and we should be thankful to no other than Imelda Marcos who promoted the Philippine Arts abroad. Pinoy artists were given scholarships and were able to go and study abroad and exhibit abroad.
Ironic ano?

(Steak bookmarks this thread...)

Gloria Arroyo and her aides have been hammering to death one and the same message for months on end. And that message is one which says that the nation should leave behind the issue of poll cheating and the “poison politics” that stems from the many cases of graft and corruption in her government, not only because these have rent the nation and are, as a result, preventing economic prosperity’s entry, but that this poll rigging is a false issue, as Gloria has won the presidency ‘fair and square.
Then comes the clincher: We must unite and move on.
In brief, the message says that in exchange of forgetting the crimes committed, Gloria will bring about economic prosperity to the Filipino people.
It is also saying that the nation cannot move on unless we cooperate as a people to embrace national amnesia and allow a liar, a thief and a cheat to continue ruling this country as she sees fit, and with no one criticizing her.
Ganun ganun na lang ba yun? Watyatink pipol?

Controversial former election official Virgilio “Garci” Garcillano, back in the arms of the Arroyo government, has threatened to tell all before the House of Representatives' panels probing the Hello Garci wiretapping.
But apparently, for Garci, baring all means denying that the phone calls between him and Gloria Arroyo-that spoke clearly of shaving the votes of opposition standard bearer Fernando Poe, Jr. and adding this to Gloria's votes, plus padding them some more with “ghost” votes to ensure her win by 1 million fraudulent votes-were ever made and claimed these tapes to be spliced and manipulated by the opposition. He threatened to name all those politicians, from the opposition, as well as the administration, who had not only made phone calls to him but had also met with him.
And for good measure, he claims he would be suing all those who had possession of the wiretapped tapes, along with those who had pictured him as a “criminal” and “fugitive.”.......MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Posted by bobstarsg
actually ang sasabihin lang naman ni garci sa mga inquiry eh " hindi tutoo na dinagdagan nya ang boto ni FPJ at lalong hinding hindi nya binawasan ang boto ni GMA"

@manfran saktong sakto yang ginawa mo pards a kingkong na next week harharharhar nice one!:)
Posted by manfran
See you at the movies guys! hehehe
Posted by manfran
Guys, talagang wala silang napigang katotohanan kay Garci,....tsk tsk tsk!
Posted by manfran
Guys, laro muna kayo while waiting for Garci to tell the truth.
