Sandisk are chinese quality. Sony are japanese. If you want cheapies go for chinese but if you want quality and reliability I know where I'll spend my money. Choice is upto you.

Hi all,
i got my k750i recently, i had put 1gb M-S pro duo card in it, the problem is when i load media on the card with card writer and load it in the phone some media is lost . it happens only after i load it on the phone. it doesn't happen when i write and load the card again on the card reader on the PC. Even i tried load media when the card is loaded in the phone then also some media will disappear. Please help me regarding this.

most sony ones are made in china aswell...
Posted by baste07
i think the sony one's lasts longer. but hey with the advent of new cards coming out every so often you won't e able to really exhaust the life span of the cards..
so for me sandisk is cheaper.. i'll go with that.
Posted by BobaFett
had sony and sandisk cards aswell, both worked fine for me

can any one give me the price of 2gb stck in india
Posted by vizzpv
i had really felt that my 2gb mspd of sony was really slow.. and now its proved !
Posted by Rhyz
i have a sony 2gig and its fine to me. im not too bothered about the transfer speed as long as there is no lag when playing movies or music on my comp. as long as the file is there im happy. does anyone else have this view?
Posted by baste07
is there a Sandisk M2?
what's the largest capacity of M2 nowadays?
Posted by Xugaa
I used a Lexmar Pro Duo in my K750... excellent!

Sandisk for me always worked fine
Instead of Sony Memory Sticks
So Sandisk Rules

SanDisk has been out for a long time. they were one of the original manufacturers of CF, the first (wide spread) small form factor memory cards.
I have a 1gb MMC SanDisk in my phone, a nokia 6230 (my wife has the sony).
The comment about chinesevsjapanese is racist and stupid.
My SanDisk card is slow writing, compared to modern ones, however, it was also 20 euros at the local berlin tradeshow, Combaer. Saturn, a 'major' retailer (yech!) sells cards for 50, although they may be faster.
Some cards will fail, sony or sandisk or other brands, due to defects. Like a previous poster, thanks for letting us know SanDisk has a lifetime warranty!

@slewslew, THERES NOTHING RACIST IN COMPARING PRODUCT MAKES AND QUALITY FROM TWO DIFFERENT COUNTRIES. PLEASE BE OPEN MINDED, WHAT IS BEING DISCUSSED AND COMPARED HERE IS THE PERFORMANCE OF MEMORY CARDS, NOT PEOPLE FROM DIFFERENT COUNTRIES.

Yes. SanDisk up to 2GB available - Sony only up to 1GB.
SanDisk will ship 4GB to retail in May.

Both cards are made in China/Taiwan.
The design is US or Japan.

Does Sandisk manufacture High Speed PRO Duos?
Posted by Vasto Lorde
@horonaim: i think they'll do. Remind the ultra series, it's the high speed line for sandisk. It's only a matter of time.
Posted by Horonaim
Yea i forgot they(Sandisk) have the Ultra.lol Thanks for reminding. Whats the difference between it and High Speed? High Speed has 80mb/s of transfer rate if im not mistaken.

Yes - Ultra 9/10MB/sec
Yes - Extreme III 18/18MB/sec
M2 is normal speed 3/12MB/sec

Only Sony
Posted by Jaanuzka
I have both cards: sony and sandisk both of them are fast enough for me..
but interesting to know anyways
Posted by 60percent
sandisk ones are sssoo good!!!!! my w810i came wif a 512 mb one, and i thought they has way faster transfers than the original ones, but its pleasing to hear that the sandisk ones are faster
Posted by maggflodd
I have both types - no difference I can notice...
And, though I bet someone already clarified this, btw who makes the sony ones? Sony? Just wondering, and too lazy to read all the way back!
Posted by ario
I think we should use the "sony" memory stick for the "sony ericsson" cellphones, eventhough the sandisks are faster but....
for security and quality (and longlasting - hopefully) i might prefer "sony" memory sticks......
Posted by msumulong
If I'm not mistaken Sandisk is a co-designer of newer MS media (Pro, Pro-Duo and M2) and cheaper. If it's low quality then why is SE bundling Sandisk branded cards in their phones?
Posted by Nanu
Sandisk manufacture the cards for Sony, so there is no difference between the two other than the branding on the casing!

you can put in 1GB sandisc in k750i i have one.

This comparison is flawed. It involves Sandisk Gaming memory cards, not the everyday Sandisk cards. Normal Sandisk cards are about as fast as the Sony normal speed cards and usually a bit cheaper but not always and not by much.
Sandisk Gaming line are way more expensive than the normal speed Sandisk or sony cards.
The only thing that is clear from this comparision, is that the Sony Hi-Speed cards are only marginally faster than normal cards, but no where near as fast as the Sandisk Gaming cards.

http://i222.photobucket.com/a[....]d234/sniper100590/DSC00006.jpg
i assume thats the gaming one you refered to i brought 2 of them back in 2006 for my k750i i paid £50 each from woolworths, at the time that was cheap the sony one's were at least £60, there good cards aswell i used them both in my k750i then sold one to my mate who still uses it now in his w850 the card still works as good as new and it's been used for 3 years. now i have a sandisk 1gb M2 in my k800i again it's a very good fast card, i am getting a 4gb M2 soon don't know if it's sony or sandisk though.

Okay that's good to know. Australian retailers often play silly games with pricing - I've seen them here quite a bit more expensive.

I have 2 X 2GB cards for my PSP. ! Sandisk and 1 Sony. Sony DEFINATELY loads and saves ISOs/CSOs/BINs faster than Sandisk. I mean there are literally 4-5 seconds difference loading Street Fighter Alpha 3 and thats only 350MB!
