I am able to connect my phone with the right dial code, *99***3# (3 is the CID on my phone for Mobile Ofice) but am not able to access the net. Tried it with IR for now using SLIP unix.
Also is normal that i can't access the net using the mobile when I have dialedin from the laptop. Conversly I am not able to dial the mobile when GPRS is active on it.

what error are you getting?
Posted by garage
No error, just the usual site not available that you get when you are offline. This is after the connection is establised succesfully.
As for the second issue (probably a symptom), once connected to the laptop, if i try to use the phone to access the net, it give me "Access Denied". If i connect to the phone to the net first and then dial from the laptop i get "777-" error. Probably cause the port being busy??!!

Hmm..maybe you are not dialling the right CID #....
Try the modem query test
Control Panel>Phones & modems>select the p910 modem>properties> diagnostics>query modem...let the query run...then check the query log...wher it says "x" " gprs server name"...."x" should be the correct CID number.... best of luck...btw..i hope you have full web gprs enabled by your provider

The second cause is legal

i guess gprs connection settings on your phone need to be done. set access point as airtelgprs.com
i faced similar problem using nokia 6600,
or contact airtel gprs helpline.

I have double checked the CID.
gprs setting should be okay cause i can access the web through the phone.
Tried airtel helpline yesterday and was just working through the problem when the connection droped. Second call has not been returned yet. Will try again today. problem is tht they want an alternate call number so that we can run tests but i cant provide them one right now....
Just want to confirm that SLIP:Unix is what we should be using in the connection settings right?

Try number *99***3*# and not the earlier one

dude, thats what he's been trying all along
Posted by amd1129
He waz tryin *99***3# and it made difference when i tried it
Posted by mrao
i used to dial *99***10# on my p900...but after a master reset....and after deleting the default "gprs" data account...i used to dial *99***2#..so its just a question of querying the modem and checking which CID # dials the GPRS server...thats the one you need to use in the dialup code

i used the SE s/w to set up the dial code.... will give 3*# a shot too...
but i have to go back home befor i do that.... at work right now
