I cant believe it. I, along with most Scots, Welsh, Northern Irish, and Northern English, have a massive bone to pick with this... we are paying for it. Will we see any benefit? No. Great for London, so why shouldnt London pay for it? Why should places it will have no effect on whatsoever foot the bill? Sure, it will be a huge boon to the economy, but the economy of Londoners! Not a bad thing, great for them, but why do I have to pay for it? It would be nice to have been asked before my tax money was used...when its all over, when the stadiums are built, when the crowds go, will I recieve the equivalent percentage of profits that I spent on this venture? Not on your nelly. Britons, the vast majority of you have been conned.

Meths Im sorry mate but who told you the Scottish,Irish,Welsh are paying for it?..The fact is its londoners who will be footing most of the cost towards this hence reaping the benefits.

Posted by methylated_spirit

which did?

i think its really sad for the poor in france, who are selling t-shirts on roadsides etc. etc.

I think the Kelly holmes picture just sums up my emotions! and the emotions of *most* of britain, although some grouches say 'itll cost too much money'

Posted by jenbones
proberbly, we could buy them then sell them on ebay when they sell out, bit of dosh for us there!!

Posted by tombadier
Don't think this has been said....

London won by 54 votes to 50 over France

Bring on 2012!

Posted by ten18
you should go see stratford vanq! they have a giant statue of kelly holmes! I just went past the construction site, theyve already started work on the Olympic Stadium there.

Posted by EastCoastStar
does anyone know anythign about the 2016 olympics, and where they might be?

Posted by Stinger151
itll be over 3years till they start deciding again.

Posted by EastCoastStar
really?
a few years back i saw a few billboards talking about olympics in orlando. i think it said 2016 under it, but its been awhile.

Posted by Cycovision
@EastCoastStar

Cities that want to host the olympics start to get their campains together well in advance of the dicision, it takes a good 4 or 5 years of planning, publicising, finding sponsers and funding sources, presentations etc. The Olympic Committee decide on the winning City about 7-8 years before the event, so for 2016 the decision will be made in about 2008-2009.

Its shame that the terrorist attack has overshaddowed our olympic celebrations!

Posted by etaab
Anyone else reckon the IOC might withdraw the offer for London to host the 2012 games in light of what happened in London yesterday ?

I think its a very real possibility.

Paris might get the games now..

That picture is quality!
