Thanks Bogus Jimmy!

I might go order it now

Hey, do you guys know much about the Blue torch IBT-20 and the ILP-20?

It's not available here is it? Wish SE would release it in Australia!

Posted by Quintessence
@caff

Yes, HPR-20 is available in Australia now. You can purchase it for around 89 dollars from www.gmashop.com.au
They deliver anywhere in Australia, only takes one day. IMHO, no radio is worth $89, and you can probably get it for less elsewhere.

Posted by lookman
If you live in Melb, try to find HPR-20 at china town optus shop, they are selling it for about AU$60

Hello does anyone know whether the firmware upgrade for the P800 is already available in Australia? to be exact in Perth.

Posted by caff
Better give SE a call or your nearest service centre to confirm the latest firmware available. Contact detail in on SE Australia website.

Btw, I anyone will go to Cebit Australia on 6-8 May at Sydney ?? I already registered and its free entry..........can't wait, I was told SE will present T610 and other new phones there......can't wait to get my hand on the T610 !!!!!!

Posted by Quintessence
Do you know if they're giving away any free things at Syd Cebit?

If they are I might go and pay a visit

Posted by caff
I am not sure. But I was told there will be new SE phones like T610, T310 there at Sony booth, anyway, you can register for free entry on www.cebit.com.au

Posted by callum
im from perth i got a t68i

Posted by lookman
@caff

The registration only for businessman

Posted by caff
Yes, I just signed it up with my company details etc.....and use my own address, they will send me the entry badget and I can go in........no special requirement !!!

Has anyone in Sydney or Melbourne try 3 networks, happy to be here in Australia, we are like the first 3 country implementing 3G networks from 3 Hutchinsons telecom.

Posted by clm
Though the 3 prices seem quite competitive, the selection of handsets available is not very wide.

Apologies for changing the subject, but does anyone know is the Micro Travel Charger CMT-10 is compatible with Australian sockets, and if this accessory is sold in Australia?

AFAIK, it is only available for European socket, you can use it here in Australia with socket converter.

Posted by Quintessence
Dah, that doesn't make it truly micro anymore
Think it's possible to rewire it with an Australian socket?

Another Aussie here. Just got my SE P800 - all a bit technologically overwhelming at first but so far proving to be an absolutely fantastic phone (compared to my disappointing and useless Siemens S35i). Am "in the sticks", and don't have a PC, but already have been able to do a few workarounds with photo and file transfers using the memorystick Duo in my Sony digital camera and Mac Powerbook. My only surprise so far is that in a country like Australia there is no car cigarette lighter charger included.

what the best pre-pay service to get for a short visit?? ive used voda before its a bit expensive compared to the other but the service is good... any suggestions??

Posted by Quintessence
From my personal experiences, Vodafone Aus is quite a good and reliable carrier. Prepaid costs AUD 29.95 which includes AUD20.00 worth of call credits. Call costs are 1 cent per second for standard calls.

Some other alternatives are:
Optus prepaid
Communic8
Virgin mobile

I believe however, that Vodafone Aus no plans prepaid is the only carrier which allows GPRS on a prepaid plan. The costs are 2 cents per kilobyte with a minimum of 15kilobytes per connection.

Posted by gearbox
Thanx! What ir d cheapest on call rate? Does voda ofers nite time rate?

Posted by Quintessence
For Optus prepaid, you will pay AUD29.95, receive 30.00 worth of call credits. For call costs, it will be 37cents per 30 second block or part thereof. There is also a 16.5 cent flagfall per call.
However, you will be able to call for 10 minutes to any mobile for 22cents between the hours of 7pm and 7am every night.

For Communic8, a subsidiary of Telstra Mobile, prepaid costs are more complicated.
For off-peak costs, the cost is 40cents per minute, plus 20c flagfall.
For peak costs, the cost is AUD1.00 per minute, plus 20c flagfall.
SMS is 25c

Note that you will have to change your mobile number as you will receive a new SIM card.

These costs are national and Australian network, overseas costs will obviously be more expensive.

Forgot to answer your other question, sorry
Vodafone will has no night rate plans, just the 1c per second anytime, peak or off peak, and no flagfall costs.

@gearbox

Welcome to Australia!

To activate GPRS, you will first need to contact Vodafone Customer Care on 1300 650 410. Follow the instructions and press the corresponding buttons to get you to the correct departnment.

I advise you to use a land line though, you may be put on hold for some time. Enjoy the music though.

This is my information source:

I live in the Northern Districts area - towards Epping and Carlingford.

I've been the the Italian Forum a few times, the food there is quite exquisite.

Blacktown is about 15-20 minutes away from me, I have been there quite a few times as well.

Anybody else in Brisvegas? I am kinda disappointed with how many t68is or SEs there are around for that matter. I know maybe two ppl that hav SE phones. Anybody else hear about the R8A015 firmware upgrade? Is it available here? Im running the emberrasingly old R2E006, shame. Its good to see a thread relating to Australia, finally. What better way to finish it off than by saying:
AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE

Posted by michal
Hi,

Looks like this thread has died

I've also have the same R2E006 firmware (and also live in Brisbane). Does anyone know what the latest Australia firmware revision is and what differences there are between it and my revision?

I've had my phone crash a few times and it's EXTREMELY slow in my view. I find myself waiting for it to catch up and often losing keypresses. Would any of these issues be fixed? And are there any new features?

thanks in advance for any help.

Posted by gearbox
hi michal,
upgrade it to r7 or even r8(latest) firmware if its already available in your area.

oi oi oi!

I'm all over the place (usually Sydney but currently in Frankfurt and UK).

Checkout Organiser World for phones and I have had a few good deals in the past from Strathfield Car Radios if you front up to a store with cash.

Hey everyone, I'm from Sydney. I got a T610 yesterday

I had a T39m for 18 months before that (with HBH-10), and a T28s for two years before that, and I think my first phone was a GA628 which I also got two years out of, so I think I'm doing fairly well

erichui - do I know you from mini2.com?

Posted by Valick
G'day,

Syd here.........
Got the Phone 2 days ago.
Beside the annoying Vodafone Live crap I'm totally lovin it.
All the Vodafone live are 03W23. So no hissing blah blah blah.
But the Ringtone DOES tend to be softer.
So go and get those program that can actually UP the volume on some of the ringtones that I have from http://www.**.com
Good site that.
Now my poor Nokia8310 just sitting there begging me to pick it up once more.

Anybody got a decent Cover for their T610 yet?
Also anybody knows where in SYD is cheap to buy Bluetooth Accessories?

I am gonna pick up my T610 tomorrow.........so excited ! There's a SE leather case ICE-25 for T610, pretty good, not seen it in Aussie though, I bought it in Hong Kong as well as the HBH-60..........way cheaper than here!

Posted by SonyFreak
I haven't even seen any T610 in perth yet. This is pure ridiculous. I've asked my friend to buy 2 sets of T610 from Singapore and they will arrive in 4 more days. After currency conversion, they are A$540 ea no strings attached. The prices here are way too expensive... a data cable for A$75?? no way... anyone spot any cheaper solution?
