what about good news week...that was a great show
Posted by gelfen
it was indeed, although it started to lose a bit after moving to channel 10.

unlike rove
Posted by gelfen
i didn't mind rove for the first couple of years on ten, but i think his humour has become very juvenile. god only knows how he keeps winning logies since his show doesn't rate that well, but then i suppose he's the only one who actually fits the category (the most popular personality) when he's up against actors.
Posted by masseur
I don't remember good news week but I was sad when I had to come to this contract because I did like Rove Live. He had some great guests and was quite a laugh and very entertaining so I missed not seeing that show
Posted by Davo_169
my dream is to be on rove
Posted by gelfen
i have to admit that would be fun. i used to watch it every week, but i just don't think he's as funny as he used to be.

Rove Live! is very popular in NZ having snuck in under the radar last year when no-one was looking. NZ doesn't have any Talk show hosts of it's own at the moment.
The comedy company was HUGE over here. Every one watched it and then spent all the next day discussing it with friends. I bought the audio tape years ago and loved it. My favourites were Coln the no-hoper, and Kylie Mole. She goes... she goes... she just goes! Rooolly!
Posted by masseur
probably the most popular was Con the Fruiterer (full name Con Dikaletis) who was always talking about his wife Marika and their six daughters Roula, Toula, Soula, Voula, Foula and Agape

We Kiwi's get the Aussie humour too. We have to, sometimes it's about us!

Telstra 3G service to launch in September
By Renai LeMay, CNET.com.au
Australia's largest telco will launch its third-generation mobile phone service on September 5, on the back of its $450 million network sharing deal with competitor Hutchison.
Telstra's service will operate between 200kbps and 300 kbps in capital cities (except Darwin), in addition to the Gold Coast. 3G services outside these areas are "more likely to be delivered" on the company's existing - but slower - CDMA network.
The 3G handsets - from vendors Motorola, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and NEC - will be sold with capped plans at $49 and $79 a month. Telstra claims the plans offer up $250 and $550 worth of standard voice calls, respectively.
Around half of Australia's population will be covered by the next-generation network, according to Telstra.
The provision of advanced video services is 3G's key selling point. Telstra subscribers will be able to make video calls to each other and also to Hutchison's '3' branded subscribers.
"Video calling between Telstra and other carriers' customers will be technically possible when the other carriers launch their 3G services," the company said in a statement.
Customers will have two options for accessing Telstra's 3G service. Its new 'Active' channel will deliver video content sites, video calling and video messagebank, while customers can opt for the i-mode channel which has, since last November, provided online access to interactive applications like the WhereIs mapping service.
The i-mode channel is used by Telstra under an agreement with Japanese mobile giant NTT DoCoMo.
Telstra will also take aim at laptop Internet access, duplicating Hutchison's NetConnect PCMCIA card in a solution dubbed "Telstra 3G Connect". Consumers will also be able to gain access to their BigPond e-mail accounts through their handsets, along with the Hotmail and Yahoo e-mail access already delivered via i-mode.
Telstra will offer customers two months' free access to Active with each 3G handset (including $100 worth of content), along with a 60 day free trial period for those who sign up for an i-mode account. Thereafter, content will be charged by each individual content provider, with surfing and e-mail data costs being billed by Telstra at between $2.50 and $5 per megabyte.
Optus and Vodafone are scheduled to launch their 3G offerings later this year. Vodafone will launch 3G in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra this October - rolling out to Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth in early 2006.

haha sweet i dont get it

Honestly guys,
Who would want to have a video-calling phone? As if I'm gonna want people calling and watching me while I'm out, or in bed etc etc. Imagine everybody had one, imagine getting wrong numbers & all the prank calls! But I'm sure they'll have a feature to swith off the cam..
By the way, buy a k750i, best phone I've ever had

The W800i is available on Optus for $22 per month on the cap plans. Do you think it's worth it?

Which is why I'm torn between going on a contract and getting it off contract. The savings are about $271

you should think about buying it outright and going with, say, virgin (who use the optus network anyway) or another cheap provider.
i did that using voda with my z600 and i reckon i've come out in front (considering at the time it was a minimum $40 plan, no cap, for 24 months).

Am now a proud owner of a K750i!

G'day from Perth.
Anyone know someone in Oz who can debrand an ex-Orange UK SE P900 that I bought on eBay? Either that or someone who can supply me with full OEM/original SE P900 firmware?
Thanks in advance.

I almost forgot! I'm going to predict rain for Thursday, then. I don't think I'll be going to it this year anyway - actually, I'm having trouble remembering the last time I went o_O

it was announced yesterday that vodafone would commence it's 3G service from October 31st, with 6 handsets at launch. no other details available until that date.

I suppose you could try blowing some compressed air into any slight gaps in the casing. Otherwise you could try removing the casing using a guide on the net, but it would be a bit risky I'd imagine. Maybe a nearby phone shop would be kind enough to help you out?

On the other hand, picked up the MXE-60 flash a couple of days ago... nifty little gadget, does make a big difference in taking shots in dark areas!

well, its Thursday. its overcast but not yet raining. i'm hoping for a lovely day to come, good for the kiddies at the show. i'll be at work thou, getting to old for the show.

aussie iTunes opened today. meh.
Posted by mattan
meh indeed. Bit of a rip-off at $1.69/song or $16.99+/album. Especially when you can buy CDs for ~$20.00 in 'original' quality with a nice booklet and without silly formats and DRM that limit you to using an iPod.

there are methods around the drm, but that is not appropriate discussion for this forum.

the SE z520i is now available in australia, but so far i've only seen it through optus on a $30 plan (and a free BT headset).
