hi all,

i've been reading these forums for the last 6 months or so when i started looking for my FIRST (yes, FIRST) ever mobile. i was rapidly convinced of getting the t610, but in the past month i was turned around onto the z600. picked it up yesterday from Organiser World in LaTrobe St (they had the best prices) and am currently trying to work out all the bells and whistles. thought since i finally got it i would join the world of esatorians.

@masseur - saw in another thread you were after a holster for your Z600. there are few places in melbourne advertising leather ones, but nobody seems to have them in yet. thought you might be interested for when you come down later this year. if i find a decent one i'll let you know.

Hello all,

Being a new user of the z600, i was wondering if there was any 'essentials' i.e. software/hardware i need to obtain to get the most out of my z600?

Any info would be most appreciated

HI there,

In Sydney Australia a new mobile Bluetooth solution called SPOT has been released by bluepulse.com. SPOT is a location based service platform for shopping centres. The solution is currently running in a few Sydney based shopping centres. It allows customers in the shopping centre to do a number of things with their phone... eg find where their friends are, locate the nearest atm or restroom, access specials going on in the centre, movie times or even find where they parked their car.... The company is looking for people with bluetooth devices to get connected and start using the system.... The solution works with even the most basic bluetooth phones... eg Ericsson T39 If you are in Australia and want to check this technology out... it's free to use.... so go to www.bluepulse.com and click on "locations".

cheers!

it loocks pretty cool. if it works that is.

Posted by gelfen
i posted a news article about something similar in this thread for those who are interested.

Posted by Bjerkebanen
@gelfen what does your name GELFEn mean?

Posted by gelfen
@bjerky, it's actually the name of the lead character from a series of stories i started writing with a friend at uni. now i tend to use it as a catch-all internet name for forums and email. if i ever get around to writing the full novels and have them published i'll be sure to send you an autographed copy

Posted by morbodestroys
Damn I just went to Broadway shopping centre yesterday - and i forgot to try out that spot thing. Oh well theres always next week... How exciting - i will kinda be bluejacked for the first time. Whee!

Posted by Bjerkebanen
gelfen that was a very cool name mate

Posted by gelfen
@bjerky, glad you like it

although i'm curious as to why...

Posted by Bjerkebanen
Because its Australian. And i love everything about Aussie land

Posted by gelfen
well it's 37oC in melbourne today. i'm not so sure you'll love that.
(i know i don't )

Posted by Bjerkebanen

Posted by gelfen
so what part of oz are you coming to see?

Posted by Bjerkebanen
I have absolutely no clue what im supose to do over there But im landing in Sydney. So im starting off there

Posted by gelfen
make sure you come to melbourne - much better than sydney, and cheaper too (not to mention the spiders are less dangerous).

You dont want to go to Melbourne. They are a bit backwards, they drive badly and they like to kill a bit of tourist for food... unless you decide to watch tennis, there's absolutely no reason to go to Melbourne.

There are a couple of places to upgrade your phone in Sydney. But gelfen was about right - silverwater might be the closest one? There are others located in Artarmon and Parramatta.

Posted by masseur
Oi! I'm from Melbourne!

Where is the one in Parramatta? I live in Baulkham Hills (when I am back home) and didn't know there was one there. Met my wife in Parramatta actually:-)

Posted by gelfen
well then, i suppose paramatta might just scrape in as acceptable

as for sydney, well there's really nothing to recommend it other than a few obligatory landmarks. melbourne is the sporting, artistic and cultural capital of australia. sydney might be a bit more flashy, but melbourne has the substance. and better weather.

for those non-aussies reading this, there is a rather pronounced sydney-melbourne rivalry. it's mostly just a sydney inferiority complex after melbourne was made the national capital before canberra was built.

@morbo, there's always the chance someone might want to see the Australian Open golf, Formula 1 Grand Prix, AFL Grand Final, Melbourne Cup and Spring Racing Carnival. oh darn, i forgot that sydney has thugby.
