Woohoo now I feel better though its still a poor effort wher are all these puter savvy mobile users here

Well it is nice to meet you both, me I have a t68 with the (i) upgrade which is not supoorted here not suprising.

Posted by sebtek
yeah - australians from my experience were far quicker to take up computers/the net/...but when it comes to anything else technological, we fall right behind....

i mean....i've had the net for 8 years now...however i remeber going to europe back then, and almost nobody had a computer....

but when it comes to anything else....including broadband - we're pretty shite....

on the phone front, i have 2 friends who have t68i's....

BRISBANINTE SIGNING IN HERE!!! I got a T65, yeah... I hate to say this.. but Kiwi's are actually more advanced when it comes to mobiles than us. The T68i was on sale there like 1 month before we got it.

Ohh well...

I'm from Aussie as well, using T68m (upgrade to T68i software), actually Sony Ericsson Australia was quite pathetic in getting the new porducts launch here, there's always like 4 months delay (from the time the new phones launch in anywhere in the world and for them to get here) But now I see they doing much better job, bringing new phones much quicker now, like the T300, T100 already here !!!! And I think they will also bring T600 here since its on Sony Ericsson Australia website, not sure why take so long for T600 to get here but anyway I see they start to be more aggressive in launching new products here !!!!!! Good Sign ........Go SE, I really hate so many people here using nokia............damn boring !!!!!!!!

I'm here.

In Canberra, not really lovin it so much, I think we are all going to die from smoke inhallation today, bushfires all around us at the moment.

I have been using my phone for everything (bar WAP) for about 2-3 years (Nokia 8850) and would be lost with out it.

Hi there im from Melbourne, Currently using a panasonic gd87 and also have a nokia 7650 & t68i. Good to see there are a few Australians around.

Perth here, and pretty new at this. Just wondering how many here are viewing esato through wap? Doesn't it cost a bundle that way? I've pretty much cut down since the free gprs period on my telstra mobile ended.

Another Aussie here. Gosh I wish that SE would bring the P800 to Oz. I'm slaving away under a loaner Nokia (my old phone took a plunge into the salt-water and has never been the same since).

But the all you guys are right. Based on the Aussie's reputation for uptake of mobile phones you would think that we would be the testing ground for new mobiles. We're isolated and as a result the test phones wouldn't go wondering out of the country much.

So it amazes me that we'll be one of the last countries in the world to get the P800. I'm so tempted to buy one outright from HK but by preference I would rather get this phone on a contract.

Oh the pain of it all!

Posted by clm
Hello from Melbourne too. I have a T68i (with cool .hk firmware). If someone wants to give me a P800 for my birthday just gone, I would appreciate it.

Posted by Jeckel
Sure! Where would you like us to send it?

Hi Guys!

I'm from Philippines working here in Singapore. I really can't believe that Australia is far behind when it comes to mobile technology and according to my Australia friend, it's not the same as here in Singapore which is among the first country to have latest mobile gadget. I just couldn't immagine a developed country like Asutralia and the US are left behind in mobile tech. In the US they are more after functionality than looks, Australians is probably has the same thinking.

When distrubutors see a lot of people looking for a good latest phone, It will be a wake up call for them, it will be nice to see latest mobile flooding around in Asutralia, good for tech savvy.

Good luck to all Australians!!!

I can give a thumbs up for Mobilefonerepair (in the Monash homemaker centre). Gave them my phone at 4pm one day, I get it back in the afternoon the next day, firmware upgraded.

Hi I am from Sydney and I just bought a t300 a few weeks ago, I was just wondering if someone can tell me their email settings, I am using hotmail. Thanx

ps I tried some settings on another thread and it kept saying server not found

Also during my phone browsing period i spoke with alot of phone dealers and they said the t300 wasn't very popular, some store said they only sold 1 since they got it!! why is that you think?

Posted by JForce
I figure that there won't be enough kiwis on here, so Ill just jump in here...Im from Auckland

My P800 is great. You guys are a bit behind us it seems. I work for SE here in NZ, and think this site is great.

Posted by caff
@Jforce

so P800 has been released in NZ officially already? How much is it?? Damn........we want it now !!!!!

Posted by JForce
Caff, no it hasn't. I work for SE, so I've had one since November last year. We are looking at releasing it here within the next month..no idea on price yet, but probably about $1900NZish...but dont hold me to that!

good'ay, mates.

I just changed my old T28 to T68i from Telstra's summer sale. I found that my cell information can't be displayed even after I called SE customer support. The guy said that it is just the way T68i works, it displays the cell information when it exchanges the information with the cell server, like after you turned your cell information off and on ( refresh), or right after you make a call. I was a little disappointed because I get used to having the cell information displayed on my old T28 and use it to see which station I am in when I take a train

Anybody knows how to make the cell information always on the screen of T68i? If I need to update my software, how do I do it?

Ta!

Posted by caff
You just go to message, area info, then select reception, turn it on.....should be able to get call info like area info. However it will have 2 lines on the display, that's why I don't use it !

Newest Version is R1D. Don't know about service centres in Perth. Phone 1300 650 050 and ask SE for the information. They got awsome customer care, I have nver waited in a cue for them.

thanks mate!

Posted by Jjaks
Hi everyone!

For those interested, the latest firmware version for T300 is R1G... and it's available right here in Perth! I'm with Telstra, so I'm sending my mobile to the Telstra shop I got it from (any will do actually) to get it upgraded...

Any other enquiries, call 1800 898 898

G'day- Perth boy here.
I have the pleasure of owning a 6510 at the moment. Should be content for the time being.

I'm looking for a WAP site that will work in Australia to download logos/ringtones. All the ones I've seen seem to be for 'UK only' or some other country.

Have fun mates!!

Another Aussie in da house! Adelaide to be precise. I love my T68m(i) to bits even thought its been giving me the cold treatment lately (freezing a lot), maybe I should be nicer to it? It's true that Australians take up new technology comparatively quickly, but it takes so long for new stuff to reach us! And in terms of infrastructure for things like broadband, I think its coz we are so spread out around the edge of a huge island that it takes so long for thigs like broadband etc to get connected.

I'm with Telstra just coz it seems like they offer the new services a bit quicker than Optus, Vodafone etc, and I'm the kinda person who has to have that kinda stuff straight away. (I end up being able to send MMSs but I dont know anyone else with an MMS enabled phone!) Another thing that sucks about Oz is that if you wanna buy cool stuff from the net (like a T68i face plate for my T68m) then you have to double the US dollars then add a huge postage! Why can't there be companies in Australia that import all that kinda stuff quickly! Oh well.... I'll just keep saving for my P800....

And yet another aussie from melb i just got my self the SE T100
so far so good the only
thing is i just cant seem to find any good ringtones

Hi Perth boys - Hurny, Jjaks... Have something to ask from you.

Just checking which provider is better in terms of coverage and GPRS charges - Optus or Telstra? These are the only partners my service provider has roaming agreements w/. How much are the GPRS charges there? Ill be coming over there 1st week of April Any info is well appreciated. Thanks!

Posted by callum
telstra is pretty good but you don't get gprs (or at least i can't) if you get a prepaid sim card,if you get a contract i think you can use gprs.i recomend optus if you want to talk at night for really cheap costs but telstra and optus are mostly the same

Posted by Rotavap
@Callum - thanks for the info... I will use my local sim card and choose which provider has the widest reach and inexpensive GPRS charges. You have any idea? I think the free rates will not apply to international roaming arrangement. Thanks mate!

Posted by baileynash
Communic8 Prepaid doesn't have GPRS or MMS and its really annoying me! Telstra does have Cell Info Messages > Area info > Cell Information > ON

Thats on T300 and my mte has Telstra and works for him on his T68i. Only problem I have with T300 on Communic8.... Service is really bad in the Warner Area of Brisbane

Hi, new to Esato, from Sydney. Own a R600.

Anyone know a list of stockists for the CDS-11 Desk stand in Sydney?

Posted by Bogus Jimmy
Allphones will be able to order it in for you from Cellnet (their accesories supplier). The retail is $39, but tell them you've seen it for less and they'll match it. (I got mine for $34 from an Allphones store in SA) Here's a list of Allphones stores in NSW:

http://www.allphones.com.au/store_nsw.asp

And I think the desk stand is very cool. Remember that you still need to plug your existing charger into it to charge your phone (it doesnt come with a cable) but it looks wicked and it actually puts the phone on a good angle so that you can see if you have any messages etc on the screen at a considerable distance.

I wanna get the HPR-20 radio handsfree........anyone know if its release in Aussie already ?

whats the best prepay sim to use in melbourne?
