I get the part that you cant flash brown to red with a DCU-60.
But why ?

Will it be possible one day ?

one day yes

No, it will never be possible to flash brown firmware to red phones using DCU-60 or red firmwares to brown phones using DCU-60

But it will be possible to flash red firmware to red phones using DCU-60 when red firmwares are released.

Finally flashed my 750i to w800i using TMS with cruiser cable. Got the cable from ebay for £5, self powered too. Total cost was £15. One thing i couldn't work out, after I flashed the phone i did a cable test with davinci and it says that my my phone is red, I didn't think they had the w800i red firmware out? Also will i be able to use the SE update service as my phone is now w800i red?

Phone is R1K firmware btw. Can't get o2 gprs to work tho, but i never use it neway

you have not flashed with a red firmware. Red firmware are not available yet.
R!K is brown firmware, so now you have a red phone with a brown w800 firmware. The point was precisely that you needed the cruisercable instead of the standard DCU-60 cable because the firmware was brown and the phone was red.

flashing red firmware to red phone you only need the DCU-60 cable.
flashing brown firmware to brown phone you only need the DCU-60 cable.
flashing brown to red or red to brown you need the cruiser or tms cable.

Hi, flashing k750 to w800 can cause a hardware crash sometimes, flash at your own risk. Cause i flashed my k750 to w800 it started to crash

Went into a store today, and found out that the W800 *does* actually store playlist position!

I've read through here, and there are a lot of people saying that red firmware for the W800 will be released soon. Is it possible for Sony to build cross-phone flashing protection into it, or is it just a matter of waiting for a general W800 firmware update (R1O or somesuch)?

Hopefully we'll have it within the next month or so, because I'm really not looking forward to the cruiser cable option.

Edit - Just incase it hasn't been mentioned before, is R1J the same as the R1K W800 firmware everyone is using? So the only difference between it and R1L is that people on O2 are somewhat screwed for GPRS/MMS stuff?

I just saw the "W800i newest firmware" thread, and that implied that people are using some kind of hybrid. I assume that it has the same stability and features as R1L then?

It's hard coz you can only save a firm from a fone that wasn't turned on yet... I dunno why are we waiting so much for the red firms, but I hope we'll get it asap

Is there main red firmware too ?

Posted by nghia
I think this is the red firmware, however I think the File System Flash is missing. I do have client 13.8. Do i still need to buy credits to flash my k750i to a w800i? and is finalizing really necessary?

I hope someone can help me out a bit.

Thanks!
