_ on music files - Esato archive

i am loading music files on to my memory stick duo from a mac for an s710a and some but ont all the mp3 files get a ._ before their name when they are viewed by the phone and are unplayable. the extra characters are not there when i view it on the computer desktop but only there on the phone. i have looked at the files and not found any reason due to encoding, id3 version, file name length, actual file size that would be causing this. anyone run in to this problem. any insight would be great.
