Bluetooth dongle improvement?

Has there been an improvement in Bluetooth dongles the last couple of years? I have a bluetooth dongle that is 3 years old and it works okay. Will I benefit from buying a new dongle?

think that newer dongles support more functions, like HID profiles, extra things, but if ur just sending files from ur phone back and forward,... its no biggie, but if u wanna remote your pc desktop and so on u may need to buy a new one,...

im just not sure. i have a old one, and i wanna be able to use it with my headset hbh662, and use it with my pc and use talkprogram as Skype, but it doesnt seems like my dongle support headset/mic feature to the pc.
