If you got the image in the first place by right-clicking on an image in a web page (or anywhere else for that matter) and selecting 'Set as desktop wallpaper' then the image might be stored in one of the temporary files:

Win98, WinME - c:\windows\Temp or c:\windows\Temporary Internet Files

Win 2000, Win XP - C:\Documents and Settings\*your user name*\ local settings\Temp or \Temporary Internet Files

The 'local settings' folder is a hidden folder, you might have to go to 'folder settings' and check 'show hidden files and folders'.

Best way to find it though is to go to 'my computer', right click on 'c:' or whatever letter your hard drive is and select 'search'. In the search box, make sure that 'search system folders', 'search hidden files and folders' and 'search subfolders' are all ticked. In XP, these are under the 'advanced options' bit.

Make sure that you are searching for 'all files and folders' and search for (one at a time) *.jpg and then *.bmp. If it's on your hard drive, it'll find it!

Thanks for your help, I did download the image the way you discribed, but I still have had no luck finding it in the folders mentioned.

ps I may have deleted my temporary internet files a while ago, but the image is still showing.

Ok, try this:

Click start, run then type in 'regedit' without the quotes. In the left pane of the registry editor, click on 'My Computer' to highlite it. Then click on 'edit' then 'search'.

In the search box, type in 'wallpaper'. Make sure that all of the check boxes are ticked and then click on 'search'.

After a while, the path to your current wallpaper should be displayed in one of the keys in the right hand pane.
