week 1 = 3/6/05 - 10/6/05
song - feel good inc
artist - gorillaz
my thoughts - TRIP-HOP, not sure what this genre is but im sure its limited to a select bunch of artist including the gorillaz. this song is very funky, it has a great beat which reminds me of a train for some strange reason. the video clip is very trippy and i dont quite get the whole windmill flying thing. the verse of rap tops it off, if it didnt have that the song would feel empty, the rapper sounds like nitty. i think most people are intrigued by the diversity of this song and its wierdness draws people to liking it.
the verdict - 7 out of 10
gorillaz - feel good inc
week 2 = 11/6/05 - 18/6/05
week 3 = 18/6/05 - 27/6/05
week 4 = 27/6/05 - 4/7/05

week 2 = 11/6/05 - 18/6/05
song - beverly hills
artist - weezer
my thoughts - i like the cruisy feel and beat to this song, a good change from the contemporary american punk music. people tease me about liking weezer but i think they are a great band and have come along way since 'teenage dirtbag'. i can relate to this song because its how im feeling at the moment
the verdict - 8 out of 10
weezer - beverly hills

I like Beverly Hills but I like Say It Ain't So even more. Your right, they have come a long way!

@davo - the only Weezer song I know is "Jamie." Is their current output very different from it? (Well I expect so since it was just a sort of school project.)

weezer - buddy holly. good tune. that gorillaz tune is great.

i really think theyve come around in the past couple of year...
i am also accepting requests for the song of the week via PM
im leaning towards a tune from the new foo fighters album, or perhaps something from 'the used'

week 3 = 18/6/05 - 27/6/05
song - one in a million
artist - bodyjar
my thoughts - as soon as the song starts you can tell its going to be good, there is a very catchy guitar riff that gets stuck in your head easily and its a very upbeat song. a good clear distinction betweeen the chorus and verse melody and then the riff comes back for the in between bits. a very good song by a tip top band. bodyjar rocks!!!
the verdict - 9 out of 10
bodyjar - one in a million

week 4 = 27/6/05 - 04/7/05
song - owner of a lonely heart
artist - max graham vs. yes
my thoughts - what the F**K were these guys thinking...i mean...my gawd....now i have that out of the way, all it seems these days like people are just remixing the songs of the 70s and 80s, its like they cant think of an original beat or melody anymore...nevertheless this song grows on you and whenever i hear it i get reminded of vice city, which is a sick game. next i think we'll see 50 cent do a version of "i ran" by duran duran...when will people learn that songs like that are NOT supposed to be remixed, because we all know they are never better than the original and if the original sucked big time, the remix will suck even more.
