Tks masseur.
More out of curiosity to see what the thing actually looks like 'in the metal'.
I can't actually imagine paying that much for exclusivity...the phone's relatively spartan features don't help with justifications either, not that it's designed to be an all-singing, all-dancing handset I guess, more 'how much for a work of art' (debatable!)I suppose.
Posted by masseur
I certainly wouldn't pay the prices mentioned here for this though once in a while I have been known to pay a little over the odds for a stylish phone that I really wanted regardless of features... the V3 being an example of that and its still one of the phones I have owned for the longest time
but £550+VAT for the 8800... I'll wait until this becomes a little more sensible. perhaps Nokia are trying to position it between their normal range and the Vertu?
Posted by aboveconnection
yes, i actually think you hit the nail on the head there.
vertu are obviously the high end nokia, therefore the are trying to be a step closer to the accent.
possibly anyhow.
Posted by mustu
I hada chat with the nokia head a day ago and this is not true.Nokia always had the premium phones. The this is vertu is all hand assembled and is not mass produced. The 8800 will be 100 sterling in 6 to 8 where as the vertu's price has gone UP.

aboveconnection - could you tell me if it supports Line 2? I'm on Orange and need this facility to separate personal and business calls. If so, I'm your first customer as I'm only a few miles from you in NW London. Thanks.
Posted by Ibinco
The phone is way overpriced! And its a nokia!

I agree with you thee. If it supports line 2 then im your second customer.

Seriously good looking phone! I like that!
Huge forward step in the looks department, i guess they got tired of all the "Blokia" jibes.
Pricy though.

Tis cute.

i need one but begrudge paying £600 for it!
might as well save the extra £400 and get a vertu!

I did the whole Vertu thing...bought one in Tan...looks awesome but was worried it would loose its colour and "newness" so stuck it in the box for collectors.
I think the Nokia 8800 is more of an everyday phone compared to the Vertu.
Posted by fatreg
how can a metal phone loose its newness?
my 8850 still feels as good as it did at day one.
granted the 8910i doesnt but that ti and not Al!

IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO OUR ATTENTION THAT CERTAIN OTHER INDIVIDUALS
ARE USING OUR PICTURES ON EBAY AND SELLING THE NOKIA 8800 AS IF IT WAS THEIR OWN STOCK
PLEASE DO NOT TRUST THIS PERSON NOR BUY ANYTHING FROM HIM/THEM ASSUMING YOU ARE PURCHASING FROM ABOVE CONNECTION AS WE ARE IN NO WAY AFFILIATED WITH THIS THIRD PARTY, AS THEY ARE TRYING TO MAKE OUT.
IF THEY HAD REAL STOCK OF THEIR OWN THEY WOULD HAVE NO NEED TO USE OUR IMAGES, SO THEREFORE BEWARE.

@aboveconnection
Ive had soo much trouble trying to work this out, but....
How does the 8800 open? Is it a button/s like the 8910 or is it a manual slide like the sl55, or is it something else?

hi jensy,
if you are holding the phone from the bottom, you push the top half of the phone up manually. just needs a little push and slides upwards

aboveconnection; your name should be ELITE connection.
And to think that everyone was crazy for the Razr- blache! Caca.
This is a classy phone, hence the price for exclusiveness.
@Aboveconnection; is it true, the rumors say that you can have your name etched into the back metal shell of the phone??
Posted by aboveconnection
haha,
no we dont,
although in qnty we can have it done in large qnty, as we have access to a laser machine in china
