Could this be Ellen? the more youthful s700?
and maybe this is Zoe the z600 replacement?

nope thats the jap w12s or w13s something like that anyway
Posted by Merovingian
TP: isn't that the Japanese version of the S700i?
Think it's called SO505i or somethin like that

No thats the W31S. That is for AU in Japan by Sony Ericsson. That has been around for a while.

well the s700 was slightly different in design wasnt it if i remember i hope these are for real just what se needs they look classy and simple just right i hope that is the replacement for the z600 loved my old z600
Posted by brix25
If these are indeed the real models then the future looks bright for SE.
Posted by david1975
i really hope so or it will start to look bleak

Ellen looks good although slitely dissapointing in specs. What I'm really worried about is Zoe. It's supposed to replace the Z500 and the specs leaked so far haven't said anything about memory or Irda or bluetooth, which were the reasons the Z500 didn't do so well. And 128x160 isn't nice either. Zoe better be very small.

Well if Ellen is the upgrade to the S700 then Im really dissapointed with it.
This is from mobile review yesterday.
The phone is equipped with a 1.8” 176x220 262K color TFT screen. For the first time the company added two stereo speakers, besides there is MegaBass function, which becomes standard for all models. If you ask me about an mp3 player in this phone, I’d answer, there is one. But the fact is that the company didn’t installed an expansion slot for memory cards to this modes not to make competition with the K750 and another music device Ophira. There are just 32 MB of memory onboard. The situation with the full mp3 support is like in Sony Ericsson K700. As for the nice details, the phone supports EDGE, Bluetooth, 1.3-megapixel camera, Push to Talk and 40-tones polyphony. Curiously, the device initially should have had a VGA camera and 72-tones polyphony. That’s how the things stand with the functionality. The PC connection runs via USB 2.0 protocol. Content providers will get interested that the Ellen supports OMA DRM Phase 1 in full.

Ellen is not the upgrade, Sakura is.

someone said these real pics have been posted - where at??
i hate these clip things they have, they annoy me. i dont think i would buy a phone with one just because they annoy me so bad lol
Posted by milmino
I'm dissapointed in the lack of expandable memory, but other than that the ellen is pretty good.

Hmm, what kind of lens would it be using? plastic?
[ This Message was edited by: [SkAtEr] on 2005-05-28 19:50 ]

Well, almost all phones have plastic lenses. K750 is doing pretty well with one. Both Ellen & Zoe don't have expandable memory, but we should be seing some higher end phone soon too. So don't worry guys, if these are too cheap or low on features for you then you'll just have to wait. I doubt these are all the phones to be announced in June, I think that this time they're leaking the lower end phones and hiding the higher end ones
Posted by bart
those new phones are so awfull. bad design, poor specs.
better get another phone/brand
Posted by maki101
What are you think that will be a real name for this model,
maybe Z550i and S550i???
Posted by DeLa
@ Bart
I disagree. Design could be very interesting especially the swivel.
SE is filling up the gap they left between low end (t290, ...) and high end (k750, ...). I remember a year ago it was the low end gap they really needed to close.
Why do so many on this forum people always assume that the latest model is the model intended for them? That is is the best SE can do featurewise? Huge masses of other customers with entirely different expectations/budgets/taste exist. Some people (sorry, most people) will *never* spend €250 or more on a 'phone'.
Posted by mustafabay
@bart
I agree with DeLa, and what exactly is wrong with them? We haven't seen a real picture yet and a final product should look a lot better. We also don't know all the specs yet.
Your statement is like saying the K500 is a terrible phone and it should have more memory and bluetooth and..... which leads to a K700.
Posted by vergon
i think these new phones is wicked !!! especially the slider 1
its pretty good for a mid class phone
sadly, they should include some expandable memory.
Posted by david1975
they do look good but not really anything new is it if they made the slider one a walkman branded one might be better

Do we have any specs or pics for this Sakura
Posted by maki101
I think that main future will be 3 MPix camera with optical zoom, CCD of course

i'm almost 100 % that se will use cmos sensors for it's 3mpx line because of it's size and this is also partly confirmed by eldar who said that se will still use cmos sensors in it's high end devices, only ccd in lower, medium end devices....

OK, but K750i is moving to CCD (info from M-R.com - news section), so seems that they succsess to make smaller CCD on higer resolution,
and CCD sensor is more expensive so I doubt that will be just in lower and medium end devices.

No specs, as yet. We do know that it is 3G and will be gaming orientated. I have a hunch SE will declare 2006 as the year of the Gamer. Don't forget that you heard it hear first :-D. I have a vision of SAKURA being a sort of 'Sony Ericsson Mini Playstation Portable', with online gaming capability. Cam, I guess, won't be less than 2mp.
Posted by Swedish_Chef
Your right Goldenface.. I read an interview that SE have done good camera phones, and now introducing good mp3 player phones (walkman branding) and now they want to produce good game phones..
So were gonna see in 2006 new gaming phones with good 3D engines
Posted by goldenface
Why thanks Swedish  It seems I have my finger on the pulse he he he. At the risk of going slightly off topic again, Where did you read that interview?
Posted by Super G
I have some doubts...
There is something very wrong in the Ellen pictures. Can you spot it?
On all pics but the rightmost one (with slider open), the hole for the strap is situated at the top of the phone. Slider open, it is located at the bottom...?!?
Posted by goldenface
@super g. Very observant. However thats because Ellen swivels and doesn't slide.
Posted by Super G
@goldenface
Right. That'd explain it
The pics gave me the impression of a slider phone.
I would otherwise expect a picture with the screen half-way "swivelled".

should declare 2006 the 'year of the video recorder' because they don't have a proper video recorder in their new high end phones (K750i and W800) and the video recorder is to me the most important feature in a phone. They have high bitrate but low resolution.Posted by goldenface
@Connect. I suppose it is an area that could be developed more. There has been a lot of emphasis on still camera innovation in handsets of late. Camcorder functionality seems to have been overlooked, apart from the VideoDJ thingy.
