Hey did anyone noticed?on mtv they are showing some clips about new nokia phones??but the problem is they are not showing the phones.
vi think the P800 is going to be the best mobile ever but i'm so sure nokia is making a big suprise ready for all of us and soon they will show the new phones and i'm afraid to be disapointed because i'm waiting for the P800 and when it comes out wi all going to be shocked with the new nokia phones they are just keeping them in secret waiting for the right time to hit and i think they will hit when P800 comes out so most people maybe will change their mind and wait a little bit longer to buy an even better phone then P800

I dont think so what are those clips on Mtv i wonder!!!!!!!!
Posted by servet
i'm not trying to defence nokia at all but i'm just trying to tell you guys that there is something going on at nokia and I saw those clips on Mtv and on some other canals i'm sure they are making a suprise soon vi will see
Posted by salonikat68
i don't believe that nokia can make such a big surprise.it's not an easy thing to make a new phone with so many features in so sort time.i believe that 7650 will be nokias' best phone for at least 6 months.

You aren't refering to the "soon you'll be able to send music through your mobile"-clip, are you? 'Cause I think that's just a general advertisment for 3G. Otherwise, Nokia is presenting their 3G-phone on spetember 26th...
Posted by kevin81
Those advertisements are for 3G phones. Sending mp3 music and movie clips must be done in a high-bandwidth environment that is 3G. These kind of adverts by Nokia are only used to get people (like yourself for example) to get curious and wait for better phones with such technologies. The only meaning of showing these adverts is to prevent people from buying P800 and other high-tech phones available today. A precaution from Nokia, as you may call it.

we saw tv ads for the 5510 and that was a pile of shi*e so dont hold your breath.
of course there's stuff to come, they're a technology company, its their job to develop new things...unless your specific its all air.
like i've said many a time before the 7650 will flop, will not have mass appeal and will be reduced to 'given away with a new contract' in 6 montsh time....mark my words.

i cant see nokia releasing another p800 style phone... just to get one over
nokia have public awareness.... i was talking to a mate that works in a phone shop the other day.. and he was saying how he was getting a 7650. he didnt even know what the p800 was!
with nokia releasing the 7210 and 6610.. (also the 3510) i cant see them planning on releasing any more new phones anytime soon. Whats the point with those top notch phones coming out?
i agree with kevin in that they are for 3g phones... nokia just promoting something that doesnt exist yet... (and not the phones)!
Posted by Cytech
as MixiN wrote... it's just some advertising for 3G... just hope Nokia's 3G phones works better when they hit the market than when they where running them on test networks here in Sweden
Posted by pinolo77
I also saw some Nokia commercials and they talk about future possible developments...They are not sitting and waiting but he you think that way pot will never buy a new phone.I will buy SE because they are part of a bigger electronic network and until Nokia makes some strategic alliances they will not be able to compete.Screens, digital cameras,video,music,computers...SE has it all,in the long run those things count.
Posted by captainsm
Sure nokia will come out with new phones.. maybe ANOTHER 8210 with different covers or display lighting.
I tried the 7650 today.. Poor design, crappy camera and 4 Mb of memory.. OH YEAH.. this will sell like ehh... crap i guess...
Posted by jb
Nokia? What is that?
Seriously though, they would hardly put something out there that competed with 7650.. If it's 3G (wcdma) they might announce it but that announcement will probably come "on pair" with SE's 3G-announcements. See, the reason they announced 7650 just after T68-release is to always have "one of the best" in their line. Even if most people don't afford a 7650, it affects their image positively. When Rob, 16, goes and buys his brand 33-ish nokia, he feels he is getting a phone from the best and most high-tech phone-company. I think sales of 3210 and 3310 (which were terribly ugly) were affected positively by the existence of 8210 (which was admittedly geniously designed, since it was not designed by nokia.)
The problem though, as someone pointed out, is that people don't understand anything. I fear they might think, "ah but maybe I should wait for that wiz-bang nokia-thing they talked about on tv" and then it might hurt P800-sales.
On a personal note, I think P800 is too big but it's somehow OK for the functionality you get. 7650 is a brick and that's rather sad. The people who demonstrate these on pictures must really have GIANT hands.
The face of 7650 is mostly a black furnished surface that is good for NOTHING. If they were really committed to making the best, they could scale it down and make it just about the size of 8210 or just a bit bigger. Ofcourse the price would be higher. But onl y then would I be impressed. And since that camera apparently takes useless pictures , most people can do without it.
I hear bluetooth support in 7650 sucks so they could cut that out as well. Do it right or don't do it all. The userinterface looks crude and beta in some areas. The joystick feels awkward. Credz to nokia for their marketing and some of the work on the gui (icons, menu-graphics).

Nokia have announced that they will release 10 color-phones within this year,..so we might see something new,..who knows
About 7650,..I spoke to Nokia at the bluetooth-show,..about the missing bluetooth headset profile,..they were encountering some problems with their version of the Symbian and bluetooth audio profile,. but also said that when ready, this would come as a software-upgrade.
I also had a look at the P-800,..hmm,..its got nice features, but I still think it lacks a bit in design,..just my personal opinion.

Nokia will have to wait with 3G like all other companies! Vodafone have said they will not launch 3G until next year!

I have yet to see WCDMA in the USA but Sprint has released their "3G" 1xRTT system by the name of "Vision". Nokia could be releasing a phone for Sprint but the network is really not up to speed. It seems that 3G is a waste in the USA since most people need a phone for calling and not data. 1xRTT has been really disappointing since it was released in the USA but hopefully when EDGE and WCDMA are out, those will run much better.

I will be very honest the 7650 has a better design and is more stylish than the P800 ,not because i bought it ,its a fact but P800 is an overall better phone....but get this Nokia announced that the 7650 is in the imaging phone category and not in the smartphone category like the P800...so are Nokia gonna come out with a SMARTPHONE?????????????
Posted by decoy7
"better design and is more stylish"
...not saying i disagree with you but it cant be fact, more likely an opinion.
the 7650 would be in the imaging phone category as it's not a phone/pda.
you wont find people trading their Palm & handsets in for a 7650 whereas you will find them doing this for the P800.
they both have inbuilt cameras, the comparisons stop there really.
Posted by kevin81
It's true. As I have mentioned in other threads before, people tend to compare 7650 to P800 just because their sizes are roughly the same and they were announced around the same time.
7650 is really on par with T68i + Communicam, it can't do anything more than what the T68i + Communicam can achieve together. But Nokia does have a Smartphone, ever heard of the 9210 Communicator? That phone is competing in the same customer-segment as P800. Of course, we all know which of those two phones is far more superior, though we should put into consideration that P800 is being released almost one year after 9210-series.
Posted by Caspa
True, but why bring out the 9210i?!...trying to make every last penny from the series!...Nokia seen to be having bluetooth headset issues full stop...there are terrible troubles with the 6310i!!!
Posted by bart
the only big card that nokia is holding is the 7210. they will target all there comercials on that.
Posted by gekko
If the 7650 is an imaging phone with that size than nokia seems to be a very sh*t company. For f*cks sake why didnt they make a phone that big with 65000 colours and a camera which can take normal pictures because the mca20 makes far better images. And 4mb storage to a phone that supports java aswell.
The one who buys this phone is a bit poor in mind!
Sorry, but its true.
Posted by boysaint
better design? stylish?
i care more on function, capabilities, upgradability. does 7650 have those? if not.... then p800 is more stylish. ...and have better design. without it being really in the criteria.
Posted by boysaint
by the way.... is nokia 9210 bluetooth capable? triple band? GPRS? all those functions in your pocket, like a t68+mc20? just asking.

Bollocks-just bluffs newest NOKIA is 6610 thats all...java yes,cam no!

can i ask we people feel that they need to hate or dislike nokia?

Why bring out the T68i?!...

Gekko, try the 7650, and come back.
You can store many Java applets, and a lot of pix in the phone w/o any problem! E.g. you get very good Java games for just about 300kBytes. And pix, well, a lot!!!!
How many photos can your T68 store?? Hmmm??
How many Java games can you get in there
And what about P800... It's not even here yet!
How many SE phones have integrated FM radio???
7650 is the only GSM phone with integrated camera on the market so far! Everybody here says Nokia lacks behind SE.... well that prooves the opposite!
Not that I don't acknowledge SE nice techy phones, but objectivity never hurts
Posted by Raven
Some nice points there, Super G. I'm really getting sick of all this anti-nokia crap! Like you say, a little objectivity wouldn't hurt....
Posted by Super G
Yep Raven
And just to emphasize a bit more, some might want to check these ones, that have been on Japanese market for a while already...

there is
hp in the jap market as early as last year ... even b4 it hit europe ... i was there when it launch ...

Guess you refer to the Sony phone, rebranded SE...
Posted by john74
guys we are not wanting to argue in here all we are saying is that 7650 is the leading phone at the moment i to had the T68i and its a excellent phone but 7650 is THE phone at the moment...until the P800 comes out
Posted by Deltayoda
I really would just want a phone that's useful and fun to use. Small, color screen, be compatible with a PDA with Bluetooth or WiFi, and at least have JAVA by now (And of course Triband).
The P800 and Nokia 7650 does not fall in that category for me. It's large, both look like bricks, and carrying it in my pocket is out of the question with that screen.
I have a PDA (Which is far better than the P800), and I have a Digital Camera (Which is far better than both phones digital cameras), which I can connect to my PDA and transfer images without problems via my T68i.

The videoclip is for new 3g phones .
Posted by Super G
Franzzzz:
Oh no. Nobody prevents you to run a videoclip on your 7650 today (MPEG4), after having downloaded your applications. It's video download as you can do it on your PC today: you first download the file, then you play it.
3G might (at least there's a big hype about it) allow real-time video streaming on your phone, but for this, you need a reasonable bit rate, and some buffering in your mobile.
You can already do real-time audio streaming with GPRS today (Fortunately!!!, it's voice

Video download to a 7650 ?? With 4Mb memory ?

What is so stange about it? One minute long, MPEG-4 encoded ,video with 160x128 resolution takes less than 400 kB. You can even record a video clip with 7650, http://www.hantro.com/july.htm.

SUPER G please compare the 7650 with the P800 not the T68. If you wanT68 with the upcoming 6610. Dont compare how many pics you could store on the T68 with the 7650.
Posted by pinolo77
Comparing is a good thing...
But 1st of all I live in Europe (4 years behind Japan and 2 before the US) and this is the first thing to point out.
Second is: in my opinion it is useless to compare phones between themselves... Everyone should compare phones to what he or she expects them to perform.
I like the idea behind the P800 as a HUB for mobile com, which allows me to perform many features very well everywhere. But in my mind it has to be part of a "network" of devices such as notebook, digital camera, ecc.
This network has to be done according to what you need.
Personally I don't want a phone with integratet camera and 4096 colours such as the Nokia, I prefer to have my small t68i and, when I need it, add the functionalities of the MCA-20.
I think, but this is just my opinion, that this Nokia phone doesn't bring anything knew on the market.
P800 will, a real PDA phone which, represents the best possible way to combine those two devices. The idea behind the keyboard is very good compared to the Sliding one in Nokias.
I don't care about who produces the models, I want them to perform what I want to.
There is no "best" phone, just "most suitable to me"

@babo:
Well many have compared 7650 vs T68+MCA-20. I went a bit further... Nothing wrong with that. Today, these two are the most comparable devices on the market.
I agree the comparison is maybe not very fair as 7650 beats T68 anyway feature wise, but why also speculating on 7650 vs P800 when P800 is not even sold yet
Posted by franzzz
Ok video clip its possible via gprs in non real time. The big problem of nokia 7650 is the low ram space. I need minimum 32 mb. I dont know why the nokia lab put only 4mb :-(:-(
Posted by franzzz
Another problem is the non good plastic material of nokia 7650 :-(
Posted by Yomans
I think i will keep my t68i mc20 pda until there there will be aviable real 3g phone. I think 1st normal 3g phone will be aviable in 1-2quartal of 2003
Posted by andrew99
franzz what do you NEED 32mb for? Have you used Symbian os before? Just asking because it is nothing like a ppc, palm doesn't even offer 32mb, and millions of people manage like that.
Explain yourself... if you want
