Im going to New York in Feburary On a school tirp and want to get a Laptop to take with me to UNI.
now im not sure which 1 to get a appl ot a sony????
this is what i need, it has to be wifi enabled, have at least a 14 inch screen and be a good all round laptop.
also i want value for money so thats y i think a apple might not be for me.
i have about £800 ($1500) so spend but i could push to £1000.
oh and has anyone had any truble using a US laptop in the UK???

one trouble to consider is power supply as the one supplied wont plug into uk mains, you show be able to buy a battery charger that will charge the batts (as they will be the same i would have thought) for the uk
also you may get caught by customs on the way back though some one far wiser than me may know the rule about bringing things back from the usa, in case you are liable for duty which could make it no cheaper than over here

stay away from Sony. In Japan there is a saying which is Sony Timer.
Meaning, once the warranty expires, so does the product.
Apple Apple Apple!

It really depends on waht features you want, but the screen quality of their x-black LCDs are amazing, I don't think Apple have a screen that matches Sony's quality.

you must be talking about the onyx black.
Here's a little bit of trivia.
Toshiba invented X-Black technology.
Sony then actually just glazed their screens. (they took their regular screens and glazed them). It was only after a while that they started to use actual X-Black screens.
Compare the two screens together, and you'll see that the lighting of Sony's screens is generally flawed.
