i dont think an mb is a lot at all. the way i tend to use my m600 for browsing the internet makes 1mb seem too small. maybe they should really have some sort of unlimited gprs package for prepaid users like they have for the postpaid ones. i wouldn't mind paying Rs. 500/month for unlimited gprs usage..
Posted by Chartreuse Eyes
Yeah they should have unlimited package for prepaid user. When they r giving such offer to postpaid then whyn't to prepaid as well i wont giving 1000Rs/30days. Maybe we all should email them our suggestion.

Can anyone please when Warid is launching EDGE in whole of lahore? I live in Islampura. and does anyone know if Telenor EDGE is available in this area? . I have Warid GPRS infinity package as I am in hostel, but it is too slow (5.4KBps)
Thanks alot .
Posted by Chartreuse Eyes
Hi!
Posted by radarblip609
I think its the Warid GPRS that he is complaining to be at 5.4kbps.
Anyways. I went to Warid Franchise asking them to give me unlimited GPRS on postpaid. They said it is only available on line rents of 500 Rs. and above. Though I've seen many people using unlimited on 150 Rs. line rent.
Can somebody confirm this to me as I am stuck to using Ufone's 750 Rs (with taxes) unlimited Postpaid GPRS.
Posted by shuak
i can only say find another franchise coz there are some bastards who dont know any thing and they are working and earning so much
bohat dafa ho chuka hai mere saath,
Posted by shuak
@sosaited Telenor EDGE is available all over the country where ever there coverage is, even now my Village which is 30 KM away from Khanewal has EDGE too
Posted by sosaited
@ Greeneyes16
I think it should work in my area, but their list of EDGER covered area's in Lahore didn't had Islampura (Though that page no longer exists on telenor's website). I am paying 150 line rent, 500GPRS charges, and 25% tax, which comes to around 850 per month if no calls/sms are made other than 150 free minutes. And in which area do u get 4KBps?, I used it in Islamabad too, and there I used to get 4.8KBps. There is no Internet in my hostel, and I don't think I can get a ptcl line for DSL.
@ radarblip609
I've heard about your complaint before as well. At that time I called 321 to confirm for that, and they told me that it is available on Zahi 150 too. Try going to some other Sales center.

@ shuak
Thanks for the info. Can you please tell the download speed you get and any info about their Unlimited GPRS package, and if they block some ports or stuff?. i already wasted 200 on a dummy Ufone connection to check if its EDGE was available in my area, so I am being over cautious before spending 200 more on a Telenor test connection

round about 17KB/s, i have not properly used coz iam on prepaid, but someone was saying that they donot block ports, they only provide unlimited on Postpaid at the price of 1000 per month, more detail on their site, but i hope ufone will give EDGE in two or three months they are currently on testing Phase so thats why there service is a bit crappy but i can confirm that at ISB they have given EDGE in my area, but not officially.

Shuak bhai EDGE ki browsing speed kia hoti hai?
Posted by sosaited
@ shuak
Thanks for telling that. Thats a fairly good speed for EDGE. Which EDGE class mobile did you used? I won't be waiting for two or three months, as this is the time I need to use Internet for before my exams. I'll be getting a Telenor Prepaid connection to check its speed in my area today anyways.
@ Greeneyes16
Though you asked shauk, Browsing speed on EDGE will be at least 2x faster than GPRS, BUT it will not be same as a wired connection giving you the same download speed as your EDGE connection because of the Latency involved and because the packet traffic comes from the backend SGSN, not every BTS. In plain words, Internet is provided to you by a further away "tower". And normal EDGE download speed will be limited to your Handsets "Class", as my Samsung X700 is limited to 236Kbps (29KBps)
Posted by shuak
u can see my hand set in my sig, class 11,
samsung x700 is also a good mobile. here is a trick u can also check the download and upload speed not even spending a penny. recieve a mms from any body which is atleast 80KB in size coz recieving mms is free on telenor, keep an eye on the mobile and when it started to download go to connection manager or any thing that gives the information of the speed. it will show u the downloading speed.
to check upload speed send an mms without the balance handset will send that mms but after completing give u error that it is not able to send the mms. while it was sending check the speed in connection manager aur something like that if ur fone has.
@GE EDGE ki speed normal GPRS se 4 time faster hoti hai.
Posted by asimakram
dear edge speed normally starts from 350 kbps to upward.
Posted by sosaited
I bought Telenor Prepaid to check EDGE in my area tonight. I was partially happy to see the "E" on my phone (Partially because I wasn't sure it will connect because of my previous experience with Ufone). Anyways, I called halp line 3 times and waited at least 15 minutes for every call (Post paid connections rock in this matter though) and finally got the settings for PC and mobile. After setting up everything I either got Modem or Hardware error (If I used Extra Initialization commands as sms'd be Telenor), or a Error 734 of PPP link not established (If not used Extra Initialization commands.
the Initialization commands I tried were :
AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP,"INTERNET"
while in my phones profile, I used APN : "wap", though I also tried "internet"
Before posting this, I've searched and read so many topics and pages I could related to this, and tried everything I could (CID stuff in Initialization commands and dialup numbers, and authentication methods etc etc). But I get either of two errors. Can someone please please please help me out. I really wanna check the speed before buying postpaid connectiona and a EDGE USB Modem.
Thanks

hmmmmm quite strange issue although i have not got any type of error when i connect mine with PC.
