Hi guys. As every one knows that some fibre optic is cut in the sea and our communication is down. Gprs was also not working for me for last two days. This time is is surprisingly working. I do not know they fixed the problem or not. Any ways if some one knows that if fibre optic gets dead suddenly. what are the back ups that isps and ptcl and others have to handle the problem. @Radar i think the ufone people were doing some internal kind of upgrade that they do many times and gprs is down for 4 to 6 hours during these updates but never some miracle happens after these updates every thing remains same. Regards. Umer .

Posted by bilal
@Umer Fiver optic cable is not cut off in fact electronic supply to it is disturbed, nearly 11000 electronic circuits are off now and PTCL is trying to detect them and repair by ships arrived from dubai. In fact there the internet supply is totally cut off but PTCL has shifted the net service to the sattelite temperarily. The fiver optic presently damaged has the speed of 155 MB/Sec but now through sattelite we are connected at the speed of only 33 MB/Sec. Net is working but very very slow. I suggest u to use GPRS at night 3, 4 AM then it will work fine because there is less traffic at that time. PTCL saying that 50% of repair will be completed nearly and working to repair the remaining.

@Bilal. Hi man. Thanks for such nice explanation. Gprs was not working at all for me about two days at third day it worked for me late night. But now it works even at day time but at little more slow speed. Do not know about the dial ups and broad bands as i have gprs only. Regards. Umer

Hi guys. Today i see news in news paper that warid will launch its services in 93 cities in november. But the are setting up boosters in many cities. Will they activate them in november or as soon as they are installed. If some one has information about this please tell me soon. Regards. Umer

Yaar tell me a thing the call rate which is mentioned on the Warid's Website is inclusive tax or exclusive tax????

Posted by umerhayat
@Basit. It was already explanied i think. But i tell you again. When we load a card on other companies for example on the ufone. On it if we load the 250 rupee card then we get 227 rupees balance some tax is cut at the time of loading then on every call rate ufone tells 15% GST is cut. But when we load a card of 250 on WARID no tax is cut at start but with every call both types of the taxes are cut. So when we make a call to ptcl then 3 rupee 15% GST tax that other cut on card loading makes it the 3.80 rupees. As the SE7 told that to count tax on warid you are supposed to add the 27% tax on every payment. Regards. Umer

Alright. So anybody got the insider news about GPRS coming to JAZZ.

And a question: If one has GPRS activated on Indigo, they say its only available in major cities. What if I take my Indigo number to Chichu Kee Malliyan. Will the GPRS function there?

hello friends,

i would appreciate if anyone using warid can share with us what is the quality of their services. I have read in the letter to the editor of daily Dawn that warid is not following up the 30 second billing system. Can someone share his own experience in this regard? I have also heard, might be wrong as well, that signals of warid disappear all together regularly

Posted by umerhayat
@SE7. Hi man. I used warid in faisalabad in early days when it was launched. That time here was no problem with signals when they were picked . But now i use ufone again and will keep on using ufone until warid stop charging monthly for the gprs and make gprs rates cheap. Man you was also telling about the re launch and new package plans from the telenor when is that going to happen . Any updates about it. I also listen rumors about the interconnect charges things. Any body know about it then also explain about it. Regards. Umer

Posted by SE7
@umer:I dont have any definite info about the exact date they will re-launch its post paid.i think revision of IDD rates was also part of that relaunch. As soon as i will get any definite info i will share here with u guys!

Posted by umerhayat
@SE7. Ok man thanks. Hope they give some attractive packages in relaunch. Man you are posting from k750. I hope its a cool thing to use. Regards. Umer

Mobilink @Comtrak: Howz there service? I think it must be bad. Thankfully here in India we have lotsa competition. Orange and Mobilink as MNCs (Mobilink isnt in cell, just had (or have?) Paging Services) and Reliance etc are the Local blokes.

Actually I have this audio file (seems authentic) with a Mobilink cust giving real bad abuses to poor CC guy PM me if anyone wanna check it out.

Here in Bombay, Reliance grew big, 2nd only to Bharti Tele's Airtel.

How many Ops r there in Pakistan ?

Posted by sailaab
Yaar, aap log lucky ho. I have used GPRS with Orange (Bombay)for over 2 years @99 pm, but they will now charge INR 49/- plus 10 paise-10 kb. Bad, for doz like me who check Y! Mail every hour LoL ! & dont tell me they confuse you with piecemeal tax. We hav like a flat 2Rs/min for outgoing. for billing (postpaid) the Serv Tax etc added as %ge of bill.

Most big Ops here are ready to launch 3G! Yaaayi Its the damn Govt. Lobbies who are slowing the process.

Bahut neend aa rahi hai (its 4am).. Gunite ZzZ

Posted by radarblip609
@sailab: The mobilink we have is a subsidiary of Orascom international. The one you have is the same?

As far as its service is concerened, its not the best as compared to other providers. Rather quite bad. Though its got the widest coverage in the country.

@Radar. Man your site is really cool. Thanks. Hope you put a lot of software and compressed mp3 songs on it also. Very nice work. Regards. Umer

Hi, Can anyone please tell me what is meant by this sentence,
"New battery full performance is achieved only after two or three charge and discharge cycles!"
What are charge and discharge cycles?
@SE7 Please answer me if u know, u look to be well known person.
Anyone please answer me if u know the complete answer.

Posted by alitayyab
hi,
i have already posted this on the telenor forum, didnt know there was a warid forum as well

i have two warid pre-paid conneciton. Both begin with 521.
When i message between these two numbers (sms, single) i am charged 6.33 rupees!!!!
Messaging to other warid numbers or other networks is no problem!
only one of the numbers is in my name, the other being in my wife's name.
I have talked to warid customer support and they are dumb-founded, i physically demonstrated this to them. They registered a complaint about 2 weeks ago, but nothing has happened as of yet. anyone has any ideas why this is happening???
ps. could anyone with a warid number with 5211... please send themselves a message and see how much money is charged.
thanks

@bilal:

This means that the battery comes to its full potential only after you have charged it completely and used till ur phone turns itself off because of low battery. This process from charging till complete discharge is called a CYCLE. So, when u complete 5-6 such cycles, ur battery gives u the best standby as well as talk time.

i hope this must have cleared any ambiguities that u might have in ur mind.

@Bilal> Teen Char bar batt. ko tab charge kijiye jab woh 'puri tarah' dead / discharge ho jaye. It gives internal cells better capacity to retain charge than b4.
@Radar> Nahi Nahi. I said Mobilink here was in Paging only. The file (customer giving Punjabi Hindi gaaliyaan / abuses) is of Pakistan Call Center. Man its funny. Hamare yahain (India) Reliance ka wahi hal hai. >

BtW> Bombay:15 hours non stop rains now. Even mobiles not working. contact friends/ relatives here to check if they are all okay

@SE7 Yaar is it true that "slow chargers such as ACP-7 prolongs battery life because they do not cause a rise in temperature within battery during charge whereas it takes long time to charge with them and the quick chargers such as ACP-12 reduces battery life because they cause a rise in temperature in battery while charging although they charge in shorter time."
Please visit this and tell me is it true.
http://www.howardforums.com/archive/topic/453603-1.html

Also please tell me please whats the difference between ACP-7 and ACP-7E type written on chargers. NOKIA 2300 is compatible with ACP-7 and ACP-12 but Which I got in pinpacked is ACP-7E.

And one thing more I got an ACP-7E heavy weighted charger in pin packed NOKIA 2300 and My friend got ACP-12 slim light weighted charger in pin packed NOKIA 2300. Why is this difference although they are both under the warranty of UNITED MOBILES but one bought from SADDAR and I bought from ISLAMABAD.

Very much thanks SE7 for ur nice explanation. I will put such questions in the future if anything not cleared to me. I bought a new mobile two days before, 2300 for longer battery life although I have others for GPRS. Also thanks for sailaab for giving me a suggesion.

I read in today's newspaper that Chairmen PTA S.Alam has announced 68 paisa decrease in call charges from fixed phone to mobile. It is currently 2.80 and from tommorow onwards it will be
Rs 2.12 And next year it will be further decreased to 1.50
Mobile phone companies transmission rates are reduced to Rs 1.60 that were Rs 2 before, among which PTCL charges were 80 paisa but now its reduced to 53 paisa. According to him transmission charges will further be reduced to Rs 1.25 next year. According to him the mobile phone billing system would also be converted to per second billing from per minute billing.

Can anyone tell me that what are the transmission rates of mobile companies and would be there any effect of it on the terrifs.
Secondly, I think mobile charges from fixed line PTCL is Rs 4/min then how its reduced from 2.80 to 2.66

Waiting for someone answer.....Bilal.

Hi, I am planning to sign up for waarid connection when I come from overseas. How is their reach and image -- any user experiences would be good. How are the rates & service. I notice there are quite a few players, but its appeal is the website!

Posted by bilal
@abtahir
WARID rates are good and TELENOR has high rates as compared to it but still I will recommend that you buy a TELENOR connection, it is better than WARID. I used warid for some days but I m back on TELENOR now.

Posted by umerhayat
Hi brothers. Also have a look on the coverage area. Telenor was launched in the 3 cities still i think covers some 10 12 cities. But warid was launched in the 28 cities. So warid has far more coverage this time than the telenor. Telenor customar support is good. But warid customar support really sucks. First of all you have to be lucky that day to get connected to help line. Then For an example ,I had to call three times to get my gprs activated. Because first two times their dealing person said 63 rupees will be cut and it will start working but it never did , then i call again after one hour and person says it will work after 15 minute but it did not , so i call third time and kick the dealing person's . . . . that what the . . . . is wrong with you people , activate this shitty thing which is pre activated in telenor and you charge 63 rupee per month for it. This time he listens and activate it in 5 minutes. Lol. So thats the way and language that works here. Regards. Umer

TELENOR signals are thier in my area sometimes drops to zero but are improved with time but WARID signals fully disappeared with time.

Posted by OnewayOnewap
Warid is a good company but only one fault that monthly GPRS charges.

Posted by radarblip609
I asked this earlier also and asking again for being unreplied last time.

Mobilink GPRS is available only on postpaid. And Mobilink postpaid is available only in big cities. So if I am a postpaid owner and currently in a small city, will GPRS work for me?

Posted by SE7
@radarblip:Dial 111 and ask them whether they offer GPRS in the city u contemplating to shift to. If u ask me, logically speaking it should not work in small cities/towns when Mobilink has launched GPRS only in big cities!

Posted by srmz
@Radarblip: I have an Indigo (Mobilink Postpaid) connection. It works fine in Lahore but in connection with my work I often need to travel to Khewra. At this location I do not get the "G" sign on my phone which means that GPRS is not available.

I believe that for Mobilink its GPRS service is still confined to the 5 cities it launched initially about 2 months back and as you rightly said limited to postpaid Indigo only

Regards
RMZ

Posted by srmz
Mobilink GPRS is down for the second day. Just wondering if Mobilink cannot manage its GPRS though it has been launched at such a small scale (5 cities only and limited to Indigo customers) what will happen if and ever this is opened for the entire country and Jazz customers included.

Just a view

Posted by bilal

I think MOBILINK has only started GPRS to have a stamp that it is a company providing GPRS and is trying to compete with other companies.

Posted by umerhayat
People are saying that MOBILINK is launching new indigo packages on 14 august . Any body has some information about it or not. Because this time mobilink rates are high and service and facility is zero . Regards . Umer

Posted by heera
no there is no plan for launching new postpaid packages by mobilink, Because they has already launched it ,named their 4 Indigo packages as INDIGO FREEDOM PLAN 1 to 4... and this time like Al-warid these packages contains low line rent and the ratio of free minutes to the linerent will increases ,, But the most discusting is that the prepaid mobilink user could not change his package into postpaid like ( telenor or Al-Warid)... and also they charged CPP charges 1.6 rupees on all offnet callz ( mobilink to other network) .

Posted by umerhayat
Warid announce that they sold 1 million connection in 80day. So can any body calculate how much time they need to wipe out mobilink from pakistan. Regards. Umer

hi
friends

Hey, whats this hype about GPRS on Jazz? Everybody is talking about it. Has it been introduced? Can somebody confirm?

Posted by umerhayat
Hi.I think they have not launched gprs on jazz. Also i do not think that they have some plan to launch it in near future.

Posted by srmz
Mobilink launched GPRS for Indigo Customers about 4 months back but since then everything is standstill. What I mean is:

1) GPRS is still limited to Indigo only and not to Jazz although at the time of launching they said it would be comming soon for Jazz. No news yet and I really do not believe it is anytime in the near future.

2) GPRS for Indigo customers is still limited to the 5 major cities of Pakistan as at the time of launch 4 months ago. No further progress in this area too.

3) For the past 4 weeks at least in certain parts of Lahore GPRS is not working. I live on the upper mall near the Jimkhana club and I do not have access to GPRS for the past 4 weeks. Written time and again to mobilink customer care but nothing done.

My view is that Mobilink is unable to operate GPRS properly for such a limited number of Indigo customers they probably simply do not have tghe capability to include the Jazz customers.

Posted by radarblip609
Yes I have confirmed it. Its launched, but not commercially. Dial 111 from your Jazz and ask them the details.

But wait, its too expensive. Rather the most expensive.

Activation charge: 300
per mb: 20Rs(with tax)
mms: 6Rs (without tax)

and available only in islamabad, lahore, karachi and faisalabad.

now who on earth would want to have it?

of course, no nobody.

Posted by srmz
@radarblip609

The mobilink gprs rates you mention are these for Jazz customers? because they gave Indogo customers a promotional offer of Rs 500 per month fixed with no data transfer limit and free unlimited MMS. But this was a promotional offer. Any idea if this promotional offer for Indigo is going to remain as such or this will also be converted to the rates you mention. I totally agree with you that the rates are too high. Furthermore another word of caution. Since I have been using Mobilink's GPRS for almost 3 months now I can confirm that this is the slowest of the 4 available. In my view Warid is the fastest (Average 40kbs) followed by Ufone and Tenenor which manage about 35 kbs while Mobilink hardly peaks at 25 kbs. Furthermore the GPRS connectivity issue in certain parts of Lahore is still persisting for almost 4 weeks now and nothing is being done.

Posted by radarblip609
@srmz:

Yes, all the charges I wrote up there are for Mobilink Jazz GPRS. I would die of internet outage rather than use Jazz GPRS.
