haha, you might have seen my post earlier about how the price of that phone dropped $100 in 3 days. But yeah i'd say it's pretty worth it, cause it was $599 the day it came out, and now they realized how overpriced they all were and dropped the price more and more every day. and now it's down to $499. Honestly, if my grandpa doesnt pick it up for me, i'll wait til it drops to $470, so it'll be $500 flat after shipping.

Although I have not bought from this seller I do have him noted as a few members here have mentioned in the past that they have bought from him and he certainly has a good feedback
don't forget you'll probably get hit with the 10% GST + customs paperwork charges when it arrives in Australia

you will only get caught for the GST for stuff you import. That first one is coming from US and the second one is coming from Hong Kong

i bought a phone from this seller 2.5 years(??) ago. the packaging was for the Hong Kong market but the phone was fine. smooth transaction.
no customs charges though i'm not familiar with these... did i do something illegal?

to my knowledge (what my dad tells me) is that sometimes you have to pay import fees on goods but it doesnt happen 100% of the time. Sometimes you can 'get away' with not paying import fees (legaly). I think they are like random, sometimes you pay them sometimes you dont (im sure they have a system but it seems like its farely random). Apparently there is more chance that heavy importers get hit with the import fees.
If i am on the right track, does anyone know what the import fee % is on mobile phones to australia?

In example 1, the value of the postal goods does not exceed $1000 Australian, but the duty/GST payable ($129) does exceed the $50 concession. Therefore, the amount of $129 is payable to Customs. No formal Customs entry is required for this importation, as the value of the goods does not exceed $1000.
This example looks like it is best suited to buying a mobile phone. $129 sucks pretty badly, its put me off quite a bit. So even off that second e-bay seller who is from australia i would still be likely to pay over 100 to customs because he is shipping it to me from hong kong? I emailed him and asked about GST and he said that there is no fee for that on top of the selling price, but that is misleading because i could be paying GST (not to him, but to customs) right?

yeah thats right, you wouldn't way the seller any of these fees but which ever service you use to get the phone to Australia would have to collect the fee from you on behalf of customs

I don't know the exact details for Australia, but in general terms, it IS possible to not pay import duty/GST legally even if the product is shipped from HK.
For example if you purchased it from a seller based in Australia and he has done the necessary paper work so that all taxes are charged to him.
For example in North America, Canadians pay GST and import duty as well, but at some Canadian websites, they tell you the goods are shipped from the US (thus it is import) but buyers do not pay additional taxes because it is import.
So ask the seller and get it in writing.

iīve exchanged emails with a guy from the ukīs ebay thatīs selling phones ( heīs in hong kong) to worldwide and he told me thereīs a way of not paying fees to customs houses or inland revenues. The sender has to classify the product as low value gift ( the value varies from country to country, but something low like 50 usd) or used parts.
iīve never tried this, thats just what he told me. heīs sold over 300 items with 98.7+, however, the pictures of his k750is were a bit weird: the middle key below the screen has no sign on it, and the body colourīs bit strange.

I know its a different country, but it is exactly random. My phone was held up in UK Customs and I was requested to provide a reciept to price it. When I did it was released and I was not charged.

my first PSP for my son came from an esato member posted from Japan as a gift and I paid tax and the second for my daughter came from Hong Kong off ebay as a gif and I paid no tax

i think it has to do with whether the person who posts it declares it as a low value gift or just a gift,
but yeh had some problems with some websites who just send it as gift and i got taxed
