Fixed my GPRS problem (O2), so I'm happy again.
Posted by beeb
so does anyone know when the next update is coming (the one after R1L)?
want to get my camera back to it's former glory!
cheers
Posted by numb
nope, noone knows when next update will be available on SEUS
Posted by Lazar
I know...
Posted by jackydang
waiting so long for a new firmware... and SE only make a fix for GPRS problem.. aiya
Posted by O2 K750i
OK
So what do you all think...
Current handset R1A on O2, no crashes
Do I use SEUS to go to R1L
Do I wait for R1AAgh
Posted by Itanium
If you are not facing any problems in any area, updating will only lower the vid quality for you and come with a risk (whatever it might be) of unstability.
If I were you , I would wait and see what comes next.

I think you are right - I returned my flashed R1J handset to O2 last week and know only too well the pain caused by R1J.
Posted by Sebby
@ Lazar
How?
Posted by Sergeic
Yes! GPRS and MMS support back - all that I'm asking for for the moment
Posted by mrianwatson
Got replacement from O2 - UK today, R1A044, It will stay this way till everything is fixed.
Good quality pics again.

And abouk r1k (w800) still have a lower bitrate???
Posted by Brady
According to people on the 'K750 Flashing To W800 is now possible' forum who have flashed their phone to the W800 firmware, the camera rev is still 4.4, the lower bitrate/quality.
Posted by Brady
SETool has R1N002 firmware. According to the forums it's full of bugs. No one has commented on whether the camera is back to it's former glory though. http://www.setool.net/
Posted by Sebby
I'm sure DaVinci will follow shortly then. The thing is, these firmwares are not necessarily intended for the public. But who knows, R1N may be the one that SE release next.
Posted by Brady
R1L002 is now available through the global support section of SEUS incase it hasn't already been mentioned.

R1L is working fine for me
Posted by silie
well i think m gonna wait for the new firmware so that the camera would be in its super best quality =D
Posted by tamir
well people i need your help i have a R1A FW and i have the bugs which you all know but i have heared that the newer FWs disrubt the quality of the video does it do that to the camera stills and what do you recommend should i go for an update or just wait till they fix the camera again (wich i feel they are not going to do)
Posted by arnoldc
i've just upgraded to R1L002 and it seems the video is better that R1Jxxx. it also seems the phone is faster in scrolling lists and thumbnails.
i'll post other findings later.
Posted by silie
do you suggest that i get the new firmware or wait for the newer one? mine is R1J002...
Posted by jriff
Have just upgraded to R1L002 - can't feel much of a difference. Maybe it is a little quicker in the menus? Cam-SW still 4.4.
Has anyone found any differences? Why can't SE keep an updated change log - this way there would be no doubt about what has been fixed and changed...

silie, if the hanging is eliminated (or minimized, this phone 05W24, hanged 4 times thus far, thrice in BT operation, once in radio) then i would think it will be a worthwhile update.
Posted by Ibinco
Can some1 check how the camera shutter time reaction is on this firmware?
Posted by arnoldc
ibinco, the delay is still there
Posted by mwarner
Updated the first post to note the release of R1L on SEUS and R1N on SETool.

UK Voda is still blocked, just tried
Posted by Rob_B
great, it seems theres a fix and now im getting the 'eror communicatig with device' message which i'd never got before! grrrrr!
Posted by happycheesecake
For those who updated to R1L002; did SEUS seem slightly different? I mean I never seen SEUS download the update first then ask to disconnect the phone, hold down 'c', etc...
It seemed that it was always disconnect the phone, then download & update...

Could someone please post a picture taken by their K750i with R1L firmware, and post a 1 minute video
We all can then compare the quality with previous firmware versions.

Here's a quick picture I took in the garden after updating with SEUS 30 mins ago.

@Hans
A guy in the 'Video Recording and photo quality is poor in new Firmware' topic mentioned about a lot of overexposure that he noticed in the new firmware. It seems that you have the same, which you can notice on the white parts of the picture.
Posted by Itanium
just a shot in the dark.. when everthing fails, try a restart (of PC as well as of phone)
Posted by silie
looking at the picture posted by hans.. i think its the same as R1J... what you think guys?
Posted by Hans Gruber
I've actually only had the phone a couple of days and it came with R1J so I don't have any experience of what they should look like, and I'm certainly no photographer!
Posted by silie
haha now that's funny i thought hans had the R1L firmware installed
Posted by Hans Gruber
@silie
here's a similar picture I took yesterday using R1J to compare...

:edit: the first picture I posted was using R1L

Well in this particular picture, its just the bright sunlight causing overexposed areas. Won't blaim camera for that as the whole picture doesn't exhibit overexposure.
[EDIT] The second picture is not taken in that bright sunlight (am I right?). Notice that the dog doesn't have that well defined shadow in second as compared to first. Therefore because of more suitable light conditions, the white walls are not overexposed.

Can anyone tell me why I always try to update i get the same software R1J002, before this i updated my k750 without having any troubles ?! R1L002 & R1N005 firmwares I cannot put into my k750 .
Tnx

@hans
so what do you think of the two pics? i think its quality is just the same.. i think the only difference is the sun? the other pic has sunlight on it but there other has none
Posted by Hans Gruber
@Itanium
Yeah I think it was taken later in the day, I certainly wouldn't judge the K750i's camera on my shoddy camerawork
@silie
To be perfectly honest they both seem about the same to me, the filesizes all seem to be about 460k and the quality is comparable.

I dont think theres any difference in cameraquality between R1J and R1L, they both use cameraversion 4.4
The qualitydegrade came between firmware R1A and R1J when cameraverison was changed from 3.8 to 4.4
Posted by silie
@numb
so u mean its a camera degrade when its version went one notch higher?
Posted by Paulino2
Both R1J and R1L has the same camera version 4.4 so shouldnt be any difference. Havent noticed any big difference from R1A either except for filesize but that just good if they have managed to decrease it look at Nokia N90 it has filesize between 250 and 450 for its 2 Mpx shoots so filesize doesent define quality.
Posted by synagence
No, filesize can mean a few things.. example...
1. Compression ratios (how much data is discarded by the image processing software) is increase thus lowering quality
2. Camera post-processing software isn't recording the max data
I know when i got my R1A phone the images were generally around 500-600Kb on max res and fine quality
When went to R1J the max filesize i ever got was around 300-400Kb
So it could be the "Fine" setting is not working or the images are just not being recorded at low compression
Wait till another version comes out...
S700i's camera is still at version 1.0 after 4 firmwares so count yourselves lucky they are doing ANYTHING with the k750i camera....although at the moment they do appear to be going backwards!
Posted by etaab
Tbh i think those 2 pictures are a bad example.
For a start in bright sunlight that completely white wall will overexposed on pretty much any camera.
The second picture looks less exposed simply because there was less sun. Sharpness looks pretty much fine on both pictures.
We need a comparison between R1A and R1J/R1L.

Definetaly
Videorecording quality was degraded also at the same time, even more than photoquality, and this is easily documented by the recording bitrate which dropped from 200kbit/s to 70kbit/s
The problem with photos is that photoquality are not technically documentable like bitrate is in videos, in photos you can only judge from what you see with your eyes and shots are not taken under identical circumstances.
To really compare if theres any difference, you would need 2 phones, one with R1A firmware and one with R1J firmware, and then you would need to take the exact same picture from the same angle at the same time. Since most dont have the possibility to make such comparisons, its mostly based on judgmental feelings or experience.
I cant exactly prove theres any difference as I do not have access to any K750 still running R1A, all I can do is compare the shots I take now with shots I took with R1A firmware.
Also, to make it even more complicated, its not in all situations that the quality dropped, I still get good shots in close ups, or normal lighting situations. Its really only in bright sunlight conditions I see the difference. The phone doesnt handle bright sunlight as good with R1J (cameraversion 4.4) as it did with R1A (cameraversion 3.8 ) and now tends to overexpose bright sunlight quite often.
