Ok, I have the chinese firmware on my K750i (ordered it from the U.S., but had no idea it would be preloaded with the Chinese firmware).
Is there any way I can flash it to another english firmware or language pack ? Can someone explain to me how to do this ?
Posted by Sebby
You can flash it with DaVinci. See this thread.

Yep - ordered my replacement yesterday 8AM from O2. Delivery 3-5 working days. Email says out of stock at warehouse.
Phoned O2 5 mins ago - next delivery is scheduled for 4th July (Independence day) but that depends on SE getting SWR fixed in time.
SE - this is not what I call 'imminent'

Does anyone else's backlight turn on randomly? I had this with R1A and still have it with R1J.

Never had that problem with either sw.

Hi, could someone post the k750i firmware from Divinci. Preferabley the EU non-vodafone one. Cheers
Posted by Sebby
@ madmax9876
How will that help you?
Posted by madmax9876
Because you don't need Divinci credits to flash. You only need them to download firmware. Do you have them?
Posted by Sebby
Why do you think that? I can assure you that's not the case. You may not need a credit to flash, but you need one to finalize. Without finalization, the flash is as good as useless.

Does someone have news from SE and EU_1 firmware?

still no news of the updated firmware on SEUS yet? anybody?

4th July from O2 is a 'place marker' not a definite date - it may slip further.
The link claim to have new 750s in stock for O2. O2 shops say they are withdrawn until a future date.
SE cannot say anyhing but 'imminent'.
Basically I called around. SE cannot say, O2 are waiting on SE. The link are selling software that is not available/written!
Cancelled my order for accessories. May return phone and get D500 instead.

O2 phones have not been locked to the network.
Tried a Tesco sim card (O2 network). Phone works OK for GSM but same problem with GPRS (using Tesco WAP GPRS settings)
Anyone with an O2 phone tried Orange sim and GPRS?

Yep - I'm using an Orange SIM in an O2-branded K750i. GPRS works fine - worked before and after updating firmware (I updated before they blocked SEUS)
Posted by tzakiel
just to clarify, no one has ever *gained* a forced-on shutter sound from upgrading the firmware, have they?
Posted by n3x
nope tzakiel dont worry just yet im on the latest and its still silent when in silent mode
Posted by daveyj
Ok, silly question, but does SE not understand the concept of the backout plan ?
It's now been a week since their upgrade was seen to disable major phone functions on those K750i's using the O2 network and therefore the SE engineers have presumably been working on a fix for that week.
This means that there are hundreds, if not thousands, of K750 users who now have a phone they have not been able to fully utilize for a week (with this out of service period still increasing) and there is no fix obviously forthcoming. This being the case is it not time SE used SEUS to enable those people to revert the firmware back to the original levels so that these people can return their phones to a fully working condition ?
Or, as that would have been a simple and fast action to implement could the problem be more serious than that ? Could it be that it is the flashing process, not the actual firmware, which has caused the problem ?
Whichever, it is time for SE to publically acknowledge the fault and give timescales for the solution to this.
(I must say I'm surprised the media haven't picked up on this - I would have expected theregister.co.uk to have written about it by now at the very least)

I have been using the new firmware on my K750i (unbranded with O2 sim) since the day the firmware was released and have come across these problems. 1) The phone has freezed on a few occasions while viewing video clips. 2) When I have tried to take a photo, I press the button half down to auto focus, it does this but when I press it to take the picture nothing happens. It does the same with the video, apart from the auto focus part. It sometimes takes 2 or 3 presses to take a photo. This is very annoying. 3) And lastly and mentioned through the posts, the video quality is a disgrace compared to what it was like.
Is anyone else having any problems like these?
Thanks

we should all just complain to SE and make them release a new Firmware as soon as possible!
Fixing the major things...
Posted by n3x
Im sure plenty of people have complained, but if u havnt get down to there website and leave em a message!
Have SE actually got a testing team or have they just left it up to the general public this time? I'll take the job if its goin?
Still awaiting this "imminent" firmware...

OK then, so a few days ago, I rang o2 about my faulty k750, and they said no problem, we'll have a new handset to you in 1-3 days. So I rang up today (not believing them in the first place) and the guy states that some new handsets were given out on the 20th, and the next batch are the 4th of July! So I was lied to in the first place. o2 really need to sort themselves out, and inform each member of their team on the status of things. I have now got to wait like the rest of you until the 4th, I just hope that the new handsets are ok.
If these problems persist and the w800 is released, I am going to demand a w800!
Posted by n3x
Yeah got for it, all uve gotta do is mention that u wish to cancel ur contract and go to another network and they're putty in ur hands!
I prefer the look of the k750 anyways... but whatever floats ur boat
I think most of the bugs have been found now judging from how dead the forums are so its only a matter of time... saying that my phones been ok, i guess it is worth paying that little extra for the unbrandedness!
When i can upgrade through o2 the new phones goin straight on ebay

Hi, just got off the phone with SE customer services (0870 523 7237 if anyones interested) and I explained to the guy about the problems I'm having which I mentioned in my earlier post, and about the video bitrate being reduced. I asked him if anyone else had mentioned these problems, and he said no, that they hadn't received many calls after the upgrade, and that there is a new firmware due for release soon (Rev. 3) but didn't think any of these problems were addressed in it, only the gprs problem with branded phones. After that he took quite a few details and I told him to look at this website to find out the other problems that people are having. He noted it down and said he would pass it on to management to look through to try to resolve the issues people have been having. Basically they didn't have a clue about the video quality reduction, so we need to let them know that we are unhappy with it and hopefully they do actually have a look through this forum.
Thanks

Well, as I've just gotten a K750i (to replace my aging P800) I'm surprised to hear about the multitude of issues with users.
I'm trying to get through 50+ pages of information here and some of it seems anecdotal while others seem to be attributed to a branded version (O2 notably). I'm a bit lost when it comes to whose version is hosed and whose is not. I've had no crashing, the occasional photo flunkieness, not wonderful performance of video but overall a general good-feeling about the phone.
So I've got a simple help-me-catch-up question: My particular phone is running the original firmware and is unbranded; would you say it's best to wait on the update or go ahead?
Posted by flanonthenet
The Da Vinci website is reporting new firmware - R1L. I assume SEUS will have it very shortly.

jtrascap i too have an unbranded k750 which i have updated.
Ive put the phone through its paces both before and after the update and generally it is more stable than it was b4 (i still get crashes after watching videos sometimes though) but all in all not much difference to be honest, ive had no major problems with the phone at any time. Although the update did mess up my email contacts so i had to resync with outlook and now its fine. I had trouble using remote desktop aswell b4 i updated but since it has work nearly everytime. I still cant bluetooth stuff from the phone to the pc though but can vice vesa.
My advice is ive uve got no probs dont bother, a new version will be release soon so just wait for that!
Posted by n3x
how can davinci have it available b4 se?
Posted by flanonthenet
Someone can correct me, but I think at one stage SEUS was two firmware revisions behind Da Vinci for the K700i.
I think Da Vinci gets the firmware at the same time as manufacturers and service centres. SE take a little longer to make them publicly available.
...I think. Anyone?
Posted by dietbrand
Well, SE probably makes them available for service centres first (via EMMA) so if davinci has acces to that...
Anybody already tried the new FW ?
Posted by flanonthenet
Not yet - still in work. But will be reflashing as soon as I get home and will report back.
Someone's bound to be doing it right now though - would be interesting to hear about any changes in R1L. Pretty sure they were just fixing the GPRS issue, but better Bluetooth implementation would be very welcome.
Posted by staiano
I just ran the update again, hoping for the best but I got R1J002 just as before
Then again I have EU_1 which wasn't listed on DaVinci.
Posted by Ja99iE
Trying SEUS now with my EU_2, I'm expecting it to be R1J still but I'll let you know if it surprises me.
[edit] Nopes, still R1J

Just had mail from O2
Apparently my replacement handset is with DHL in transit so it looks like the GPRS fix has got to O2 and new handsets are coming out.
Will report SWR version when handset arrives.
Posted by Sebby
That's annoying about DaVinci having R1L, I only flashed the other night (unbranded). Well I won't waste another credit. The SEUS still has R1J, but I can't imagine it will be long.
Posted by Ja99iE
I think they'll be keen to get this firmware up as quickly as they can - I can imagine the networks hassling them about lost gprs revenue etc.
Posted by shefpete
got my replacement 750i from O2 this morning. its a week 21 model (I had week 19 before), with the old firmware R1A044 (pre seus update...) not as I'd hoped a fixed version of the newer firmware R1J002.
seems they either forgot to do mine or they're playing it safe until an authorised (by o2) update comes out on seus. New one works perfectly (as did my previous one until the update) but it's disappointing that the speed and tweaks made in R1J002 are wiped away 9tho gprs is thankfuly restored.
Seeming o2 just issued me a new phone to stop the gprs issue..... by back dating the firmware.. total waste of time really if I had known they were messing about doing this I'd probably have waited and updated the firmware when it's supposedly imminently issued.
if it ain't broke fix it until it is.

Same software and same freeze for me what a mess!! why bother sending out a handset with no improvement!!

Don't get too excited, its more than likely just flashing R1J again, unless somethings changed in the last hour or so.
Posted by Itanium
lol ya... I have UPDATED from R1J to R1J (drum rolls please... tada.....). Now what that chubby update software is for if it can't see if there is really something to update or not...
Posted by staiano
You want intelligent software too. You are asking for WAY too much
I'd just like new firmware, then they can start working on the SEUS software, lol

I dont understand what else you would have wanted them to do ?
You buy a phone with initial firmware, update to a new firmware that has a gprs issue, send it back because of this gprs issue. The supplier does not have another firmware yet that fixes the gprs issue, ergo they only have 2 choises, send you a new phone with initial firmware to solve your gprs issue, or ignore your problem and wait untill a new firmware is released before they send the phone back with updated firmware.
Obviously they cannot fix the problem without a new firmware, they cannot send you a "fixed version of the R1J firmware" thats not possible. You cannot fix a firmware, you create a new one, and this has to come from S//E first.
They fixed your problem, by sending you a new phone with an earlier firmware where gprs works. To me thats good service, they could have just said no, wait for new firmware and your problems will be fixed.
Posted by shefpete
very true. but it has transpired today that there is an updated firmware, which has been issued to suppliers and divinci especially.
but fair enough I do take your point on the customer service issue. I guess I'd just have liked a 'wait' option without having to deal with couriers, migrating settings etc. but I was led to believe it was a hardware fault with my phone and no software released would fix it.
but heck I have a working phone again and.... it ain't crashed yet... so you're right, job done for now!
shefpete.

lets just hope that the new software are released on seus very quickly and that it fixes the gprs issue (im sure it will)

already updated mine to R1L, this is weird, i dont have any credit 13.3 client prompted that i should have 1 credit. just take a look the picture below.. but on my phone now is R1L.
Posted by staiano
Any problems or improvements with R1L002 that you can see so far?
