@Xugga,
doesn't look like you have any option but to safely remove the phone from your pc, should be ok, obviously if the phone boots check firmware revisions etc. if you still have problems might be worth doing a master reset and trying seus again.

Now I left it over night and in the morning it still hadn't finished, so I think that was confirmation really that it had got stuck. So I shut down the computer so that I could take my phone out and turn it on, everything seemed fine. I went to look at my 'Software Info' and it reads the following:
R1CA021
prgCXC125952_EU_1CL
R1CA021
LCD SW versions
Main display
Current: 0
Camera SW versions
Camera
Current: 5.3

Customization
CDA 102338/38 R9A
cxc 125953 R1CA021
EUROPE_2

PA19
So what I want to know is, is my phone ok? Has it updated correctly, successfully and complete? Despite the minor but potentially dangerous troubles.
Thanks for any help...

whew! i thought i really f**ked up my fone. turned out it only needed a master reset (reset all) for the update to get through. after i did the master reset & started the update again i thought it will still get stuck at the last bar! but thankfully it went through. tnx 4 all ur suggestions, really helps
hey man went through this problem also. read my post above. very crucial to back-up ur fone 1st coz after resetting the fone all data will be gone (contacts, pix, games, themes). i used my phonexplorer, u can get it from http://www.fjsoft.at/en/
good luck & tell me how it went
Posted by baoiboy
@xugga
check if evrything is fine. camera, music player, etc. if u notice any glitch on them, or if there's something wrong then u will have to complete the update. but basing from the data on your fone's firmware, i think it's updated already.
when trying the update again, it will tell that u already have the latest version & u need not to upgrade. just click update anyway, important thing is u must complete the update successfully so that ur mind can rest coz u know ur fone is running perfectly

Its so frustrating for some users (like me) who cant update the firmware....
I hope they fix this s*** some day.
this damn lagy camera of 008 is pretty anoying..
Posted by DTEG
Agreed. I can almost tolerate the other issues that are fixed but the camera is useless for action shots. The image it freezes on screen when you think it's taken the picture looks perfect but the one it's actually taken and then saves has missed the action. Shame because otherwise I am very impressed by the K750/W800 camera.

What do you mean SOME can update and other NOT ?? anyone which got a W800i could update thier FW with the new one which is : R1CA021 or still on the older one which is : R1BC002 ??????????
I live in Sweden and my phone is UNbranded .... i updated my phone 1 week ago and checked the FW was not the new one, it was R1BC002 !!!

Still waiting to see if Orange do approve the firmware this week.

Well, just updated my Voda k750i to the latest... so maybe it's valid for UK users too. I got the SEUS application hang-up at the end of the update, but removed phone from cable, put in sim, it works and the update is done. So... Probably a software glitch, the update program doesn't realise it's done it's job and proceed to the end screens.

I updated my Virgin mobile k750i using SEUS II. It got stuck at the end of the update like other people, I just removed it and it was fine and working with the new firmware.
Posted by saveirogti
God damn it... i should have taken a k750 instead of an w800i unupgradable..hehe

The mp3 playback quality seems to have reduced after the latest software update of my k750i using SEUS. Has anybody else noticed the same.

Folks,
I had upgraded my K750 from R1J to R1BC and then to R1CA (with 1 master reset after R1BC). I have reloaded R1BC as well as R1CA twice each. N I can bet that the video playback has gone way down as compared to R1J

Video playback? I was not aware that this had gone down at all in quality since R1J. Can you gibe a specific example of this? As far as I am concerned, video playback is about the same as it has been since it's update in R1J.
Video recording, however, has improved in quality since R1J.
> However Camera quality has increased
.. and the camera is perhaps marginally better, but nothing too noticable. The only real change is the use of Centre weighted rather than Average metering.

Posted by rockygali
now that explains it... thats the difference of version 4.5 to 5.3
and about the vids.. i really denote others sayin that it has gone down whether it be playback or recording... it has been like that since R1J alright.
but i wanted to say this over and over... the video recording with R1CA is i think alot better than the previous ones.

Update service now showing as -
Update Service Version 2.6.6.10
Posted by girish_uce
Video playback quality degraded as in the videos are more scratchy with vertical lines coming in and boxes coming in where there were smooth videos (the same videos were tested for the software). Don't have any figures to prove it. And I noticed it probably because I shifted directly from R1J to R1BC.

Just updated my Orange UK K750i to R1CA021
Posted by Xugaa
Can someone tell me with the latest firmware is there a noticable difference in a improved camera version? Because 4.5 to 5.3 or whatever seems like quite a big jump, ecspecially since before firmwares were only bringing the camera version up by one or two...

This question has been bugging us all since R1CA has been released

My K750i is on Orange and at last they have approved the new firmware. I am updating on this computer and the green update bars are all full, but now it has stopped. Is this 'normal'?
Posted by saveirogti
I think unique.
Just try to download the mp3 again. Notice that if u rip some songs with the Windows media player u have the "protect files" (copyright) option....
your case?

Can anyone who is on a Vodafone W800 please tell me what firmware they have? Is it R1AA or R1BC?
Thanks

Finally I managed to update as Orange seems to have approved R1CA021. Of course the updater stuck at the last green line forever, but I just simply unplugged the phone from DCU 60 and so far everything seems OK. It's true that the first time I powered up the phone it acted up a bit - it would not recognize the earphones - but I turned it off and on again and the problem disappeared. Aside from all the enhancements already mentioned, I noticed that the annoying crackling ("static") sound that appeared every once in a while between mp3s has disappeared.

I just tried Davinci to update my w800. I have to say it's some good piece of software. No problems. I've debranded to R1BC002 (updating the firmware also debrands the phone.) I think the hissing issue and sound quality issues are still there though. Phone call quality has improved.
However, the audio things I complain about could be just because I'm some sort of an audiophile.

Still there sometimes. I find it helps to format the memory stick when loading new albums but remember to backup your media data.

@ O2 K750I: You're right, I just noticed that the noise is still appearing, although less often.

Hi
I upgraded my Orange U.K. K750I from R1AA008 to R1CA021.
The new firmware has made the menus a lot quicker, Taking a picture is also quicker & the phone does respond faster to button presses round the menu system.
Also seeing how much free memory is left is far easier now its displayed in MB instead of KB lol.
But it does bring a new bug!
When sending a text message instead of the nice scrolling progress bar I used to get, Now its just a solid black bar.
Looks like Sony Ericsson need to tweak the firmware a bit more lol.

Try re-applying your current theme, or try a different one. This happens to progress bars sometimes during phone upgrades.

From what I have seen so far, the 'static' on the phonecalls is gone, but the static that was audible when starting/stoping the radio or media player is still there. Also, the autofocus "motor" sound is now really audible, with the AA all I could hear was the beeping. Battery life doesn't seem affected. And the lag between clicking on the shutter button and the actual photo taken is really really annoying. Haven't tested BT yet.
Had the same problem as Calleboo describes since AA, no theme change or upgrade fixed it, LOL I have accepted is as "normal" now.

No joy for me on Voda UK (still stuck on R1AA) on each of two handsets:
102338/2 R32A VFE_2
102338/68 R4A EUROPE_2
What CDAs do those Voda UK users who successfully upgraded have?
Cheers

As I see it there are three quite separate but possibly confused issues with mp3 sound quality on the firmware I am currently stuck with on my O2 W800i (R1AA008):
- Constant low-level hiss when the headphone output is enabled
- Additional "fizzing" crackle during fade-in/fade-out and quiet passages on songs
- Occasional clunks (like the headphone amplifier's being turned off and on) in the silence between songs
(1) I suspect is unavoidable and because of poor quality audio components. (2) I understand is the bug introduced when SE fixed a distortion problem. (3) especially seems to happen if the skip functions have been used but this is not certain. (1) and (2) in particular are only really noticeable with the supplied headphones, and not with hi-fi etc.
There seems to be some confusion over what hisses, pops and crackles are and are not present/resolved in the more recent firmwares, so perhaps breaking the problems down into these specific categories might help.
Can anyone then confirm which, if any, of the above numbered issues are fixed in R1BC002 or later?

Hi all again,
I have a question for you people who use DaVinci credits to update your phone firmware ..
Regarding SE W800i , does DaVinci have the new firmware R1CA021 for it ??? or only the R1BC002 ?????
Cause if DaVinci got the new F/W R1CA021, it means SEUS will release it as well sooner .. but if DaVinci only have R1CA021 for K750i .. it means SEUS will NOT release anything for W800i ..
Or maybe i am wrong ??

Yeach.. I guess R1CA021 will never be released for W800i...What's the deal then since R1CA021 only improves the camera driver to 5.3...it's a must for K750 as an imaging phone but it's not for a Walkman phone...W800 has already gotten its successor : W810...so, everything you want is in the new phone. R1CA021 is also the final firmware for K750 as K800 will be announced in the end of June...Or Am I mistaken?

Just updated my Orange UK K750i to R1CA021 and i still get USB transfer problems. 512mb card is wasted on this phone.

yes you are mistaken.
Firmwareupdates does not stop just because a sucessor to the phone is released. Example: new firmwareupdates for K700 were released long after K750 were released. Theres no such things as "final firmware" untill S//E find that all relevant bugs/issues are solved. This may be R1CA021, or it may not be, we dont know that yet, and it definately has nothing to with a new model being released or not.
Somtetimes though, you do see that some users feel that certain issues are not solved even when S//E desides for "final firmware" - depending on relevans of issue. Its not impossible to see that a minority of users complain about something that most others dont care for or dont experience, and something that S//E doesnt think is an issue. Or you might see that certain issues are not solved simply because they cannot be solved. So im not saying that firmwaredevelopment for a specific phone continues forever untill every single user on the planet is satisfied, but S//E never abandons firmwaredevelopment of a phone with known bugs, that can be fixed. just because they release a new model.

Don't you think that 'orange' might have something to do with the poor performance? Or maybe even that beige box you are plugging the grey lead in to? The vast majority of people have no troubles at all.
I have a range of memory cards, none of which are problematic.
Instead of blaming the memory card why don't you investigate your computer system, whatever software you are using to transfer files across the lead, and then search the net for people experiencing any similar problems.
Maybe you've gotten a dud card, maybe your operating system is loaded up with spyware and a million viruses, maybe it's all good and Orange screwed up the firmware... There are numerous possibilities - since you don't provide any details on the problem, or steps that others can follow to reproduce the problem, how do you expect anyone to help?
Not jumping down your throat in particular, just a little mystified by people who would rather bitch and be spoon fed rather than try to solve their own problems.
Cheers.

Have you tried formatting the memory card & then transferring stuff to it via the USB lead?
Are you using the "Safely Remove Hardware" option on your Windows taskbar before you unplug the phone from the USB lead?
Ive got a 2GB card in my K750I on Orange running R1CA021 firmware & have no problem with file transfer.

I need help......
My orange uk w800i has been updating via seus and the green bars are at the end but it still says updating software, please do not touch the phone and its been like that for the last 15-20 mins. I know its to risky to just disconnect it but it doesn't look like its going to stop. Does anyone know of a safe way to end the update safely??
Please help......thanks
