Fake pic?... phone is already on in the pic so why have the option?

Posted by Anger
Actually the phone is off, it's on fly-mode, which means that the "phone" part is off (you can't call or receive calls), but you can listen to your music and blah blah blah...

I guess lol I don't have the W800i

No it's not in flight-mode... cause when it is the signal bars are crossed over to indicate that the "phone" is offline... in the picture the phone is allready on... so something is fishy....

Firefreak: it's not a fake pic; you can see it's from mobilmania.cz and it was taken from gsmarena's k750/w800 preview, months before those two models were released (read: pre-release firmware)

Posted by chrisdaemz
With the latest firmware I can use the camera when in flight mode. All you have to do is lock the keypad and open the lens cover... Easy as that

Such an unbelievably long thread!!!

I reckon the orginal thread starter should summerise the best replies!!!

Seriously, it would be useful if we had a poll for the best firmware so when someone like me gets crashing on bluetooth use I can look at it and select a recommended firmware (I last updated to standard k750i firmware via SE standard tool late feb 2006)

Unfortunately this forum doesn't seem to have a vote feature...

Posted by O2 K750i
I will vote for S60 - nothing to do with the K750 or W800.

This is such an unbelieveably long thread because SE are unbelieveably poor at Software.

- BUG: Increased background noise during phone calls when the volume level is set to a low level. .

Well i had this Problem on my W800i (orange UK)so i thought updating to R1BC002 would of fixed this but the problem stay is there, ive replaced the handset from orange but the problem didnt lay with the handset,

is there any firmware i could downgrade to , to get rid of the background noise on my w800i or any fix since the noise is quite annoying and cant hear the other person much.

Posted by vanpeltje
i have the newest firmware (i think) R1BC002, But.. my camerabutton refuse to make a picture! it's really one at the 10 times that it says tuut tuut & clack and makes a picture.
Is their something wrong with the firmware or what?

Must have been WAY before release then... I tried a prototype atleast 6 months before release and it didn't have the camera option either...

The starter of the thread is me, and I do keep it up to date with any useful information I get from the contents of the thread or from other sources. Take a look at the first post

In terms of that is the best firmware. I would say:

1. R1BC002 (sorts pretty much all problems)
2. R1L002 (great apart from the lower video quality)
3. R1A044 (The first firmware, which was very good if you had a phone which didn't crash every few days)

How does battery life compare between R1L002 and R1BC002?

My experience is that R1L002 had twice the battery life of R1AA008 on my K750. If I could do it for free, I would go back to R1L002 just because of that. R1BC002 is not out yet for my CDA

Posted by mwarner
I wouldn't say that the battery life is that much different. R1N035 introduced improved reception that came at a slight expense of battery life. However, I have had most firmwares and would say that the difference is fairly minimal. My guess is the difference in battery life is no more than 15%. I personally have not really noticed a change.

Damn..camera in flight mode...that is like soo cool...am like soo happy

Posted by O2 K750i
@mwarner

I agree with your battery assumption - I have noticed a drop in battery performance as the phone has aged - the battery has needed recharged every day due to listening to MP3 at work. I think this loss of battery performance is what may be an issue here.

Hi! I was wondering whether anyone could help me with the following problem:
I am running the Update Service S/W (Version 2.6.4.9) and once I have chosen the location and the screen with the START/EXIT buttons appears, I cannot select START but only EXIT!
Any hints? I have the latest Macromedia Flash Player (ver. installed.

Please do drop a line if you know how to solve this!

Thanks

@ mjah132 I had the same problem, Uninstall SEUSII and perform a fresh install with latest SEUS installer, fixed problem for me

Anyone else noticed this glitch in the new firmware? I've got the k750i on o2 and recently updated the firmware but now, if i receive an SMS from a number i do not have stored in my phonebook (sim or phone), then i go to try and save it by going to "More ->> Use Number ->> Save Number" my phone reboots and does not save the number. The only way i can save the number is by dialling the number and hanging up before it starts ringing then saving it from the Calls List. Neither my sim memory or phone memory are anywhere near full. I've tried going to "More ->> Details ->> More" from the text message but the phone still reboots after letting me choose which contact i would like to add the number to. This has happened with 3 different numbers and 3 different contacts that i have tried.

Mind you, having a firmware version that noone else on the planet owns must cheer you up a bit .
Seriously though - what problems are you having with your firmware, and what revision is it?

I have just tried this with my O2 UK branded R1BC002 K750 and do not suffer the reboot issue. Perhaps your firmware is slightly corrupt? If you are concerned about this issue I would try a master reset, which may fix the problem for you.

How do you conclude that locking the keypad and opening the lens cover institutes "flight mode"?

I tried it on my K750i and all it does is turn on camera mode.

@ leibniz

K750 do not have a flight mode? so how can you test this?!? lol

Posted by tranced
Sorry to bother but, i need to know what k750 fw can the cam shutter be turned off in silent mode?

Posted by aremaboy
Silent shutter in silent mode:
R1BC002 CHINA_CL
APAC_1

Posted by Hesky
@ tranced

No there are no settings to do this on the phone it is a setting in the firmware, although.. davinci team are able to do this but it will cost you 1 crdit. see first post for links and make sure you read ALL davincis How to's.

Posted by Tervel
@leibniz I'm pretty sure he's referring to a W800. Early on there was no instructions on how to turn the camera on in flight mode, only the MP3 player.

Posted by leibniz
Ah yes. Well that would explain it.

I thought there was some magical trick to enable flight mode on a non-converted K750i. Silly me. D'oh!

As cool as flight mode would be, I'm still not ready to install the non-K750i firmware.

Unrelated, but still - luckily the K800 will have flight mode out of the box

Okay my fault didn't mention that it was with my W800i...

Could the k750i be updated with w800i's firmware? I've heard people talk about it but never really seen one with that kind of amendment, and how would it affect the sound quality in general of the k750i?

I apologize if this has been attended to before, please point me in the right direction.

Posted by aremaboy
Don't ruin your K750. The sound quality is 100 % the same as when you attach original HPM 70 to it..

I successfully flashed my D750i to W800i's firmware a few months ago, and now it is recognised as a W800i but it won't update to the latest firmware when I use SE Update (it says I already have the latest, which I definitely don't).

Is this normal?

[ This Message was edited by: W99 on 2006-04-29 12:52 ]

W99, It wont Update a D750 with W800 FW because SEUS checks the phones IMEI number to ensure it is a W800 handset.

Posted by jasond
This morning I ran the setup wizard on my K750 running R1BC002, and I'm not sure if it's just me, but I think the wizard has changed from when I first bought the phone?

The demo phone in the images is now silver, and it goes into more detail about the separate buttons than before rather than briefly summarising the buttons, and just setting up the time and importing contacts etc etc...

Naturally, it's entirely possible that I just never paid enough attention to this in the first place, but I'm sure there has been some improvements/modifications. Has anyone else any thoughts on this? Or old firmware’s to compare?

Posted by amyroukai
A small warning, the latest SE update tool (v2.6.4.9) is incompatible with the latest java update, had to remove the jre-1_5_0_06 and reinstall the jre-1_5_0_05 for it to work... LOL Vodafone Greece has yet to allow the latest firmware so it makes little difference for us.

Does the SEUS update to R1BC for UK Orange branded W800's? Or is it still R1AA?

The first thread of this topic doesnt seem to suggest so but I don't know if it is up to date?

Posted by SEProblems
Orange branded phones still can't update to R1BC002, I hope it's released soon.

Posted by superleeds27
what about O2 phones?

Posted by pdub
Orange UK are useless. Gettin more and more problems with my phone now.

Posted by kulorex
Plz help! I tried updating my phone from R1AA i went as far as 'phone updating please do not touch your phone' but i had a server down on my internet connection. since then my phone refused to come on. i tried again today with the update, but it says my phone has the current software.
Please help! my phone is still off! Plz help! plz!!!

Posted by mwarner
It's quite unusual for SEUS to completely screw up your phone. I would suggest removing the battery, putting it back in and then holding the power button for longer than expected.

If you are totally screwed then either take it to a SE Service Centre or use a third party tool such as DaVinci.

Just delete the DB folder in SEUS folder (Program Files) and retry to update (the firmware to download again - so wait - about 17 megabytes to be downloaded). Luck!

@mwarner
i tried it but it couldn't work!! I'm all the way in Africa don't see how easy it will be for me to send my phone to SE. How do i go about the Da Vinci thing? tell me a little about it. is it safe? is the firmware reliable? where do i start?

so how do i safely delete the DB folder? plz give me step by step guide. don't want to do more harm than good.
thanks. keep the help coming!

Posted by Vicser
Don't execute SEUS, just delete Program Files/Sony Ericsson/Update/DB folder (catalogue) and try to update again.

Posted by aremaboy
I'm sorry to say that SE service centre is the ultimate solution. They will re-flash the phone or if it's under warranty, ask for a replacement. Here in Indonesia,I updated my phone in a internet cafe of 40-80kbps speed, and it always succeeded. I suspect your PC had problems, not SEUS itself. Hopefully,R1BC002 is the final f/w so that there'll never be more dead phones around..

Posted by kulorex
I've tried deleting the DB folder as you mentioned. I've installed it again but still no luck. it still comes up with the same message that my phone has the latest software. My phone is still off and i don't know what to do. Someone please help me! PlZ!!!!

Posted by mwarner
@kulorex

So what have you tried so far? Have you managed to get the phone to boot up? Does SEUS recognise the phone?
