Updated the first post with the m4a tag reading bug. Thanks to johny_dmonic.
Noted that the zoom issue on >2MP photos is under dispute at the moment

Alright.. the new firmware for W800i. Perfect.
Pictures can zoom.. sound quality great... M4A readable.. No hissing... bluetooth ok... what else you all want to know?

Does R1BC read M4A tags on your phone?
If I have made a mistake in the first post, pelase let me know. Sometimes it's quite tricky knowing exactly what bugs have been fixed / introduced or features added when you don't actually have the firmware yourself, and people disagree with one another as to what is and what isn't fixed

Anyone with ORANGE_GEN customization had any luck yet?
Posted by darrengf
i have just received my phone back from ACR Logistics as I had a faulty Joystick and my software is still on R1A
I have a Orange K750i and did ask them about the software so they dont for branded phones.
I have just tried the update too and it still says that i already have the latest version.
Sorry not yet!!
ps ACR were 100% gr8 in repairing my phone compared to carphone warhouse who took 6 weeks. ACR 1 week and 2 days.

Does anyone have an idea when R1BC002 update will be available for UK O2-branded phones? I have just tried again and I still get that message stating that I have the latest version.

Well O2 users should be allowed to update according to O2!

Whats an M4A tag?
Posted by Tervel
I have a German O2 phone and I was not able to update the firmware to the newest one yet. I am trying again with the latest version of the SEUS to see if it makes any difference.

m4a tag refers to the id3 tags of m4a media (aac encoded). most probably have converted their mp3s to m4a because of it's smaler in size and higher quality. r1na (?) and r1aa can read m4a tags (for W800i) but was removed in r1bc.

I have tried to update for 3 hours now but get failiure everytime it starts to load, then I read the other tread about the hissing noise in the new FW
I´ll think I stay with R1L002, no hissing and no other bugs exept the camera delay. Hopefully SE will make a new FW without the hissingsound!
I think they have turn the amp over the limits to please the demand of high volume and need to take it down to R1L002 level again.

i cant seem to find the "continue anyway" when i was trying to update thru SEUS .. and ideas?

My update worked the first time without faults.. lucky me.
Pictures which can't be zoom... how big is your picture.
I don't see any speed updates on the phone in this new R1BC but then the camera said that it snaps a little faster.. yeah.. it's just a little faster.

Anybody with EUROPE_5 managed to update to R1BC002?
@mwarner
Maybe the CIDs for which the update is available to be listed in the first post?

I would have thought you would know youself where you got the phone from and what it's customisation is!
However, looking at http://www.topsony.com/lista_cda_k750i.html, it would appear that your phone has a Generic Russian CDA alongside an Asian Pacific region (it should be European)!
I would suggest that you will probably not be able to update through SEUS if the phone has been tampered with (e.g. through DaVinci). Why not just try it yourself and see what happens?

I find it difficult enough finding out what firmwares are added for the major UK retailers, let alone maintain a comprenensive list of CDA numbers. I don't have access to such information from SE - I just rely on other Esato members keeping me up to date on what firmware is applied through SEUS to branded phones.

Got your phone back from service center? I also sent my w800 to service in Norway. I got the phone in return today (3 weeks waiting) with the message “Not able to reproduce error”. Aaargh! The mp3-phone is useless for me if I can’t use it for audiobooks!
I will try the latest firmware now. Crossing fingers.

Is this really true? No hissing at all with the new firmware? Can anyone confirm this?
Posted by Xugaa
yep, though some seem to think/have some other problems for some reason... mines perfect
Posted by yngvewb
I'm still confused:
From the front page: "- FIX: Background noise during lower volume calls ('hissing bug') now fixed. "
My problem is background noise when playing mp3. Has this hissing been reduced?
Posted by Xugaa
i think it has yeah. i think i saw a few posts back some people saying that it was fixed and good in music now. i have never experienced these problems, even in the last firmwares. so perhaps its not for me to say, but never the less you should upgrade the firmware...

i have R1L002 is it worth while updating to the new one

Don´t think so, have you got any problems with that FW?
I have the same and it works perfekt with no hissingsound and no filetransfer problems,
I would like the volume to be slightly louder, but it seems like the hissings starts then
Keep it until everything have been sorted out!
If you change FW, let us know if you got the hissingsound!
Most of the people here change from later FW and maybe have get used to the hissingsound and maybe not notice.

no i tink ill stay with it if the newer ones are not any better thanks

Hi! Anyone have any idea why the microphone stopped working after upgrading my k750i to the latest firmware R1BC002 ? (I can hear but they can not hear me)
Thanks
Posted by Firefreak
The hissing when playing mp3s is gone in my phone with R1BC, as is the cutting sound during low volume calls. I love it.
As a note to you K750 users with W800 firmware. R1BC is now available from Davinci...
Posted by rockygali
you can hear them and they cant hear you... hmmm sounds oblivious...
anyway have you tried resetting your device? a master reset perhaps...
or have you tried updating again? anyway, how did you update went? was it flawless?
Posted by Kristoffer
I still got the hissing with R1BC002. Every time I start the mediaplayer I hear the hissing noise… Never goanna get rid of that with this phone…
Keep the R1L002 if you want to be sure not to end up with this stupid hissing noise…
Else I think R1BC002 is a go FW.

That’s just too bad! I got a friend working at a mobile store that upgrades SE phones. If the old R1L002 firmware really didn’t have any hissing, I’ll gladly downgrade. The mp3 player is totally useless with the hissing sound now.
I still have R1AA008, SEUS don’t let me upgrade to R1BC002 jet (Got Telenor, Norway).

for me the hissing sound is onely when i choose manual equalizer and make the bars at high levels.
i think that is dangerous for phone either, cause this is over omplification and can damage the sound ic.

so any uk o2 users yet ??
if we shud b able 2 update then why carnt we ??

hi guys,
what is this 'Vinci' version of f/w upgrade? can anyone give me an insight about it?
Posted by Dan_Aykroyd
DaVinci is another way of updating your phone; it's a third part application & firmware file that, paying, will update your phone to a desired version of the software.
If you use it, you won't be able to update anymore using regular SEUS.

Tjeck this out:

It make sense regarding the hissing noise...

So what's the advantage for chosing 'da vinci'?

* If you have a k750i you can convert it to w800.
* If you have an operator-branded firmware you can de-brand it (and sometimes unlock features that operators have removed).
* You can change the menu/T9 languages.
* You can remove the camera sound in silent mode.

I was on R1L002 for months, just updated about a week ago. The only real disadvantage with this firmware is the poor video quality however their are some good improvements in R1BC, for example picture menu hourglass, better video quality, better pic quality in lowlight, and other things (see start of this thread).
It's worth updating to R1BC, but if you only get R1AA when you update (some phones won't update to the latest), then you may inherit the invalid parameter error when copying files to the computer over cable.
So it's hard to say, but I gave it a try, got the R1BC firmware, and haven't looked back. It's a lot better than R1L002, but without the transfer bugs that plagued the firmwares inbetween R1L and R1BC.

Hi! Yes, i've tried 3 times and also did a master reset. The update was flawless.
Posted by rockygali
hhmm, prolly a hardware failure, it coincided when you have updated the device thinkin that the update was the cause of this failure...
try returning it to the shop for replacement... is still under warranty?
Posted by bosched
I would agree, does sound like a hardware problem to me, the only other thing you could try is to uninstall then reinstall seus, run seus and say continue anyway when it says no update available. seus will then redownload the firmware and flash your phone again, just incase your phone has had a bad flash..

So does anyone have any idea about my problem (mentioned on pg 362)
Immediatly after upgrading to the new firmware, I lost the functions of the down and left joystick buttons, the 1,2,3 buttons, and the power button.
Since then, the two softkeys and the back and 'C' keys have also stopped working.
I know its software related, because when clicking the buttons, they still make the key click sound, but they just dont do anything.
I want to flash the phone back to the old firmware (R1AA008), didnt have any problems with that right up to the minute before the upgrade. Is this possible without paying for Da Vinci etc?
Posted by ralfzs
I have R1AA008 software and somehow I have a problem with my PC
recognizing properly memory stick (MS Duo 512MB). Every time I connect the phone tp PC it tries to install a driver (it was installed before with lower software releases and working perfectly) and finishes with error "Access Denied" and I can see MS in Device Manager but with a hardware problem.
I have tried to format MS using the phone but this is not helpful. Is this a software upgrade problem when a new release has MS bug?
Any ideas?
