Just took some quick pics for you matey

One thing i did notice when i updated the k750i i had last night is that when i did the led test in the service menu the led didn't light up and it did b4 the upgrade.

Weird thing with this one , just intstalled speed chaser on it and only shows half a screen ??

the picture's out side look very good again and no blur.thank's..but i think its more so distance shots that get the blur in them would you post a few later at a distance buliding and tree's? only i have seen some good and some bad just seem's hit and miss at the mo with the camera maybe the placement of the len's might be slightly out on a few...thank's for all this help mate..just annoying with the faulty one's finger's crossed your's is good at a distance..

also whats the thing you installed is that on the phone??Weird thing with this one , just intstalled speed chaser on it and only shows half a screen ??

Well what a disaster this upgrade has been for me.

Spend about 45mins on various phone calls to SE, O2 this morning, SE intially weren't very helpful, O2 told me what i knew already; the firmware isn't approved on O2.

Went to the O2 shop at lunchtime and they told me the only way to fix this problem was to send it back to O2 repair (which will take a week) where they would re-flash the phone to the original firmware.

Rang SE again this afternoon and the guy was much more helpful, he aknowledged that SE know there are issues with the new firmware and that they are working towards an 'iminment' release of operator specific firmware - I pushed him for an ETA (as O2 will take a week to fix it) and he said this week.

So i'm going to hold on in there, and fingers crossed, i'll be able to use the SEUS again to get my GPRS working.

Pretty relieved that SE know there's a problem, after not knowing whatsoever this morning.

My fingers are crossed with you m8 and i really hope SE gets a O2 specific firmware out soon

We also need a new generic fw , unbranded handsets also suffer the lost of mms and gprs using o2 sim cards

got same from SE - release of O2 branded software this week - Ive got probs with update SW R1J002 - GPRS doesnt work - apparently I need O2 specific code.

It does make me smile when I call SE and the guys answering ask "what problems have you seen"? - I guess they are compiling a database from Jo Public Test House Inc.

My R1J K750i is working on GPRS, O2 sim as well. First attempt it didn't work but it does now. Also tested the MMS which also took two attempts through GPRS, worked first time using the standard wap profile.

Question : an application like the new NetFront web-browser for S600 it is in the firmwire ??? If it yes Se can put it in the futur K750i firmwire ???

i just noticed, when i plug my phone into usb it shows a new folder: mp3.
it wasn't there before the update...

so, these network spcific updates, do we think they will they be for all networks?

Hmmm...

"Your device is not permitted to use this service
Your operator does not approve the usage of this service for this device.
We look forward to assist you again soon.
Thank you for using Sony Ericsson Update Service! "

Pehaps SE have pulled the whole site down while they are working on the specific network updates.

Posted by Dazzz
Oh.

Just when I finally have a few minutes to get on with it...
*sigh*

Hi

As far as I can see, the biggest problems of the phone have been solved.

1. Bluetooth headset (HBH-662)
2. Phone freezing

And therefore I can now wait in peace for the next version, whitch hopefully solves all those minor things too.

Well SE are defintely aware of the O2 GPRS issue, but one would presume that there will be specfic firmware for O2, Voda, T-mob and Orange, making sure they indivdual customisations work okay.

Thats what i hope anyway as theres no GPRS for me until this new updates out.

It's a problem that the java applet doesn't load fully or correctly. I had to switch the browser I was using to get it to work. Also make sure you have the latest java installed on your browser.

@rickster2kuk

There is no isolated "O2 GPRS" issue! This is a problem also on other networks, even on unbranded phones.

My phone is a "free" phone from week 18 with the GPRS problem.... and I'm on Telenor in Norway.

Posted by darrengf
Im on Orange and havnt had any GPRS problems before or after the update.
God i hope i dont start now
lol

Posted by djastle
What browser/internet settings do you need to download the update? I'm having trouble downloading the update as well - getting the blank page after ticking all the boxes. I'm using Mozilla 1.8b and have windows firewall turned off.

Posted by nabraxas
My update went well, worked first time, one of the differences I've also noticed it the text "Silent mode on" when you put it into silent mode using the # key, don't remember this previously; I've also noticed that GPRS no longer works, but I'm sure this will get sorted.

U need to go to www.java.com and install the java applet. I had the same problem with only a blank page.

Let us know when u come right

Posted by Orange K500
my k750 is 05w19 suffered only 1 lock in 3 weeks. I am now on R1J and cannot GPRS

Does anyone know if the new handsets will have a hardware mod?

If not it may be worth holding on to flash new firmware "soon" otherwise I will ask for replacement on 20th from O2

Any views:?

how to install Update Service USB driver????????
please help!

Posted by masseur
the instructions are on the download page for this driver

Installation instructions
1. Download the zip file to your computer. Remember where you put it.
2. Unzip the file to a temporary folder.
3. Turn off your phone.
4. Connect the USB cable to the PC but not to the phone.
5. Hold down the 'c'-key and connect your phone to the USB cable.
6. This will start the Windows Found New hardware wizard that will be used during the installation.
7. Follow the instructions in the wizard; choose to "Install from a list ..", then press "Next".
8. Browse to the temporary folder created under step 2 above to point to the driver to install, then press "Next".
9. When the driver is installed, press "Finish".

thanks!!!!!!!!!

Has anybody had the "Your device is not permitted to use this service" message when trying to update?. I'm with O2 UK.

Posted by dodgydodgy
It's a change - they have stopped people on O2 downloading the update due to the GPRS issues.

There should be a new firmware update out specifically for O2 sometime this week.

Posted by JohnK750i
I got my K750i Unbranded last Sunday, had 3 freezes every night I went to sleep.

I updated the firmware yesterday, had no problems doing so, just followed the instructions provided by SE.

The phone is much smother and I had no Freezing last night.....hope this continues.

Updated the first post with R1J002 details and firmware update links. I've just returned from taking some training courses in Kent, so i'm a bit behind! I'll no doubt do another update once I have fully caught up.

I seem to be stuck, I am trying to update my k750i but am having a problem. When i unplug the usb cable, leave the phone off for 20 secs, then hold down 'c' and plug the cable in again. once i do this, the phone just boots up normally, and the update software on the pc does not do anything, i know it says the update should start in 15 seconds, but nothing happens, it just seems to stay there waiting.

please help

As an update to the O2/GPRS issues.

As mentioned earlier I'm using an unbranded 02 UK headset which is week 20 (05wk20).

After upgrading the firmware I could still use GPRS, but following a master reset (hoping to get bluetooth working), I've now lost that, and have the same errors as others report here.

Does anyone know what a master reset could have changed that would have broken GPRS?

Posted by Killhippie
You need the SE update driver, its all listed on esato ,do a search

Posted by jofullalove
I have downloaded the driver, but when i do the 'hold 'c' and then connect usb cable, the computer doesn't start a new hardware wizard.

Posted by Killhippie
Go to device manager and uninstall the apropriate item (thinks its flash usb) but you should be able to find it,then remove the phone and retry hopefully the pop up will appear

Posted by JoshuaSLK
Can somebody who has updated his unbranded K750i send me the
HL1_125953-EU4-MR1_000000_0000_R1J002 File?

i updated my!!!
i am happy now!!!

Posted by jofullalove
I deleted everything from the device manager, that related to the phone, however when i do the 'hold c and connect to usb' the computer automatically installs the phone and the usb flach drive, without opening the wizard. it just installs it all itself. i don't know what to try now.

First post now fully up to date.

The phone has to be off first. Is you phone off when you try it?

It would be great if SE released a firmware update tool for Mac users...

O2 just told me the 27th for K750's to be in stock, damn i hope they come up with a software fix for the gprs asap

@ mwarner

Thanx for updating the main post.

Here is one bug i found in the new firmware. When you got to emails, write new, add recepient, it shows as No Emails, No emails, No emails instead of my actual email adresses.

I remove all my contacts and re send them via bluetooth to see if the problem still persist.

Also i noticed a funny thing, when i highlight a No Email, i get an option of more, when i click that, i get an option to make a video call....??? Pretty wierd.

Don't have that problem... sim-free unlocked phone...

Posted by Phantomlynx
Question: for you knowledgeable types... How do I know if there is a more recent version of the firmware available? I know how I find out what version I'm using, but as far as I am aware, it never said on the the site what version was now out. Do you just regularly begin the process and see if anything happens? Surely there is a smarter way!

Posted by mwarner
There is no smarter way, unfortunately ... just keep an eye on Esato, and this thread in particular

I am on IRL Vodafone, but my phone is sim free from O2. I also get the Message "Your device is not permitted to use this service"

I somehow was able to download to my PC the update setup exe "seus_setup118" and it extracted files to my PC. Is there any way to install this to my phone ? Or does anyone know how it works?
