I have this problem too

Hey everybody
I tried the "UpdateService_Inst_2.2.11b.exe" instead of the last one available on SE.
And yeah, now it works... even if it updates itself at starting.
I found this version on http://rapidshare.de/files/13[....]eService_Inst_2.2.11b.rar.html
Hope it will help you all. (Thanks Steve for the advice)

No problem. I still receive the message "no update available" when trying to update my Orange UK K750i handset to R1AA008 using 2.2.11b. Any one with my setup managed to update?

is the R1BA firmware available in SEUS?
Posted by RTouris
No, R1BA is not available in SEUS II. At least not in its current form yet, since it's just a beta at this stage.

A question for the experts. Yesterday, I updated my phone to R1AA008. Today, a friend passed by and asked me to update his. We both buy our w800's the same day with the same provider.
After I succesfuly update his, we compare and Surprise, this came:
Mine: ITP SW version
CXC 125 932 R1G
His: ITP SW version
CXC 125 932 R1E
What happened here? If both phones are the same area, provider and all...why the difference? What is the difference inside the phone? What this ITP CXC number means? Which one of this is older?
Thanks.

yesterday , i tried to update my phone to RBA013 , it started successfully , at the end of process ..........
Tell me why ????
Posted by Hesky
@ Blackjack296
R1BA013 Is not available onSEUS!!!!! that is why there is no new f/w available. R1BA013 is only on BETA! so if you try flashing with SEUSII you will only get what the rest of us have R1AA008
If it is in BETA they are not going to let just anyone have it!, Just think of all the complaints they would get if it had major bugs in it!
SEUSII is for issuing finalised fimware only!

Anyway who are these Cruiser people? How could they have the new f/w before SE officially releases it? Is it a kind of leaking f/w from SE lab to modify here and there? Will SEUS have this R1BA013? So,who leads who? Who follows who?

Exactly what i wanted to know. I googled them several times but i couldn't pin point them (cheers for the link to the cruiser team).
The only thing i want changing on the new firmware is the ability to set different ringtones for different profiles.

any idea when SEUSII will release a new firmwarE?

Is R1BA013 out in SEUS?
Posted by CellDude123
Can anyone tell me how much time does it take to update the firmware in W800i? I mean from the start to end.
And how big is the firmware file approximately?
Thanks.

Doesn't take that long. I think around 10-15 mins (if i can remember). You don't really get informed on the file size of the firmware.

Apparently the R1AA008 firmware adds an interesting bug: the bluetooth headset standby bug. I have an W800i and I tested it using an MSI FT200 and a Plantronics 320. Both exhibited the same issue: after 10-20 minutes at most, the headsets in standby no longer received the sound from the phone. Either for incoming or outgoing calls.

Funny, I have R1A and have no BT problems, use Plantronics h\\set for an hour a day and no issues..............

UpdateService_Inst_2.2.13.7d now available.

Posted by Xugaa
how can i check the version of my update service?
Posted by Hesky
@ Xugaa,
Never thought of clicking on Help, and About in SEUSII?
plus you will always have the latest version as it will auto update on starting

yeah, help and about should let you know what version of the update service you are using.

So after SE had stated that there would be no more firmwares released for the K750i, it looks like there may well be one final one in the pipeline?
It seems strange for it to include a 'self-updating' profile, when there are a limited amount of additional firmwares to be put out?
Perhaps SE will turn to more of a 'patch one problem at a time' type of updating, making it still feasible to have this profile on the K750i - to address minor bugs?
Posted by Xugaa
or maybe there's a surprise coming our way...
Posted by Sir Ice
One may only hope. In my case that they will fix the bluetooth headset bugs.
Posted by baste07
i'm anxious for a new firmware to be released. hope it comes out soon and with big improvements

A question ..
R1BA013
- Released by Cruiser Team on 24/02/06.
- Add new profile in Settings / Connectivity / Device mgmt., possibly to enable phone-based firmware updates.
possibly to enable phone-based firmware updates <--- does this mean we are going to be able to UPDATE or UPGRADE our Sony Ericsson W800i through GPRS ??
Cause some other Sony Ericsson contain this possiblitiy to update thier phones firmware by GPRS !!
Anyone knows ??
Posted by mwarner
@night_66
Yes, this is a possibility - although it's difficult to say until a new firmware is released AFTER this one. I believe it tells you that "your firmware is up to date" when you select it, hence it is believed it can be used to update your firmware via GPRS.
@baste07
What are you looking for in the new firmware? R1AA is perfectly stable as far as I am concerned. If you are looking for significant new features you will likely be out of luck.

Well,the new K800 is on the way to replace our K750-so,I almost 90% believe that there won't be any more f/w update..everything we hope for is all in the new upcoming phone..

I think SE will make an universal firmware for all cells which have the same hardware like w800/k750 and the new w810.
Posted by rajprit007
Hello Is there any new firmware out on SEUS newer to R1A008
Posted by baste07
no. no new firmware yet out.
i'm lookign for flight mode and maybe a music player like the one in w800
Posted by iabi
Hi, can anyone tell me how to install spanish lenguage pack on my w800i for t9 anda menus? thanks

@rajprit007
> Hello Is there any new firmware out on SEUS newer to R1A008
No, not on SEUS. As always, look at the first post for the latest information. As you can see R1BA013 has been 'released' by Cruiser, but this is not available through SEUS and may never become an 'official' firmware.
@icutcher
> I think SE will make an universal firmware for all cells which

The firmwares are already 'universal' in many ways. They are all based on the same code, but just with certain modules exchanged / disabled (e.g. Flight Mode or the Walkman media player)
@baste07
> i'm lookign for flight mode and maybe a music player like the

This is exceptionally unlikely. The only difference between the K750 and W800, apart from the outward appearance, are the differences you outline. SE would have nothing to gain by making the two phones identical and would confuse the Walkman brand by doing so.

How credible is this info? Any official links?
Posted by baste07
i doubt that there wouldn't be any firmware upgrage for this phone
Posted by RTouris
Since R1BA013 beta is out I'd be inclined to believe that at least that one will reach the masses.

Mike,
in regards to:
~@baste07
~> i'm lookign for flight mode and maybe a music player like the
~> one in w800
~This is exceptionally unlikely. The only difference between the K750 and ~W800, apart from the outward appearance, are the differences you ~outline. SE would have nothing to gain by making the two phones i~dentical and would confuse the Walkman brand by doing so.
~Mike
if this line of reasoning is to stand then i am puzzled as to why SE would include the PlaneMode function on the K790/K800 and the K610.
wouldn't it a testament to SE customer support if they showed loyalty to their current customers and made the Planemode functionality available on the k750i (what i use and LOVE) retroactively via a f/w upgrade?
